I dressed up for the dinner with Cassandra’s father wondering what he wanted from me.
Since I ended things with his daughter, I had not been invited to their family home because according to him he had considered it a direct insult to him and his family even when it had been his daughter who had cheated with my brother.
The Martini’s were another powerful mafia family but it did not help that Lorenzo Martini had only one child and she was a girl.
No matter how powerful they were, they were vulnerable and here was always some inner power tussle that went on in his clan.
Cassandra was dangerous but she wasn’t very smart and there was no way anyone was going to allow a woman head the cosa nostra when they were men waiting to get their hands on the mantle and rule.
