Barry surveyed his ingredients and sighed. From the state of the pantry, the cowboys had subsisted on meals made chiefly from packets, jars, and cans. However, with the need for speed that morning, sadly they’d be having more of the same. Barry began by emptying a catering-size packet of instant oatmeal into a pot. He added water and set the pot on the stove to boil. Knowing plain porridge was boring as hell, he went back to the larder and brought out an unopened jar of pumpkin spice and a bag of mixed dried fruit. These were added to the pot as was a tablespoon or three of instant coffee creamer. While that simmered, Barry got to work on the rest of the meal.
