Athena’s POV
Caine opens his eyes and lifts his head, but Sam makes no movement. “Caine, are you okay?” I ask the wolf after I establish a connection with him. “Athena, is that you? What are you doing here? It's not safe.” He replies and tries to get up, but he is too weak. I rush over and try to help him stand and Lucy comes to help too. “Mate?” he asks me and I just nod. She touches him and gasps. “Mate” she says and hugs him. Sam hadn’t even stirred or opened his eyes.
“What’s wrong with him? Why isn’t he waking up?” I asked Caine over the connection. “He is too weak, he has used up most of his strength trying to keep Abel at bay.” Caine answered.
