"Hey, Ellen. Are you okay?" I snapped back when I felt Cain's hand over mine. I immediately removed my hand, then gave him a forced smile. "Y-Yeah ... I'm just thinking ..." Cain just looked at me with a questioning stare. Obviously, he doesn't believe in my excuse. "Are you sure ...?" I don't know what to answer him so I just stood there in my seat. They all looked at me because of that. "Oh, where are you going?" Math asked. "I'm done eating." I gave him a fat answer, then I immediately walked away from that place. Since it was two hours before my next class started, I just thought of hanging out in the school garden. One thing that I've found out in this school is that, if you want to be at peace, then go to this place. I just need some time to breathe. Honestly, I really need to stop having this crush on Mathieu. But it's really hard since I also see him every day. I better do something about this ... It's stressful, honestly. There weren't many people when I came to the garden so I was able to breathe easily. I took my phone out after. I saw a missed call from Allie about a couple of minutes ago so I thought of just calling her via video call. She immediately answered it. My forehead immediately twitched when I saw his face on the screen. "What the heck is on your face?" "Face cream, sis. I also don't know why it's orange. Anyare there? Who's with you?" "I'm all by myself." I told her. "Aww ... sorry, no one." annoyingly he says next. "Mat-mat? Why don't you just go with them first?" "I was with them earlier dFireng lunch, in case they're also there Charline. I just get visited every time I hear the two." Allie smiled at me. "Jelly?" "Kinda." I will admit. "Anyway, you don't really look sick. Are you really sick?" "Nothing." his short answer. "I just said, I have a fever because it's embarrassing to say that my stomach hurts." I laughed suddenly. "Your period today too?" "Yes. What, including menstruation, are we together ?!" he asked with a laugh. "I've been at the clinic before since I was having dysmenorrhea. Hopefully, I won't be moody later ..." "Me too. That's why I'm absent because of my stomach ache." he says. "Don't worry, I'll come in tomorrow so you can have someone with you again." That made me smile. "Yeah. Get well soon." we talked for a few more minutes before I said goodbye to him. To be honest, even if it all started with stupidity, I can still confidently say that at least, Allie is someone I can count on. She might not be as refined as most girls around, but come to think of it, she's always been there whenever I need her. I'm already liking her because of that. And now, honestly speaking, I'm kinda missing her. It's also hard when I'm too used to someone, nuh? The one I always look for when they're gone? Will the time come when others will look for me? I'm just wondering what it felt like if I would be someone's priority ... "Hey, Ellen ..." I was surprised when a familiar voice called me not very far. I raised my head to check who it was, just to see Cain standing near me. "What are you doing here, Cain?" "Nothing in particular." he cleared his throat, then lay down beside me on the grass. "This is my sleeping spot, you know." "I can go if you want." He looked up to me then giggled. "I'm just kidding, Ellen. You can stay here with me if you want some peace and quiet, though. Promise, I won't talk." he put his arms behind his head. He closed his eyes after. I stared down at him, then sighed. We stayed that way for a few minutes. No one dared to break the silence. Cain was still lying in that position when I suddenly thought of asking him something. "I have a question." I started. "Hmm?" he replied. "Tell me why you're here again ..." He opened his eyes. "I already told you, remember? I used to sleep here all the time." I sneered. "Yeah, right. But do you really need to sleep on this spot? I mean, that garden is spacious. Why are you still lying here next to me?" He just laughed softly before closing his eyes again. "Nothing, really. If I'll sleep alone, someone might disturb me again. At least if I'm with you, they would think that we're company." "And do you think that's a good idea?" He nodded, still his eyes closed. "Yup. You see those guys over there?" he pointed to a group of students not far from us. "They've been thinking of approaching you earlier. Would you rather them talking to you than being here with me?" "This isn't so bad." I admitted. "I'll just pretend you're not here, then." "Okay. I'm not here." The silence between us is longer this time. When I checked on him, Cain seemed to be really sleeping already. I can't help but to look at his face. Like me, his family is also very rich. He is also good-looking and to be honest, I think he is somewhat decent. I can see why many girls are so crazy over this guy ... I wonder if he also feels tired about everything, though. Isn't being the 'prefect guy' exhausting? The wind just blew me away after that. What the hell am I thinking? And why the hell did I end up being with this person here, anyway? I guess this is better than being really alone ... An hour has passed when I decided to check on my phone again. My next class is about to begin within fifteen minutes. Since we're on the same track, I think it would be best if I wake him up first before leaving.
