I just stopped scratching Khalid when the emergency room door opened. I immediately stood up when I saw the doctor come out taking off the bloody gloves on his hand. I immediately avoided looking at it then I approached the doctor.

The doctor removed his mask then he bowed for a moment and sighed in frustration before looking up at me again and saying what broke my heart.
"I'm sorry. We did everything we could to save your son but still, he didn't make it. We didn't save him. I'm sorry, miss, but we lost your son."
