CHAPTER SIX Maya parted the blinds of the window near the front door for what must have been the twentieth time since their father had left. The street outside was clear. An occasional car drove by, but they didn’t slow or stop. It scared the hell out of her to think what her dad might be caught in the middle of this time. Just for good measure, she crossed the foyer to the kitchen and checked her dad’s phone again.
