Chapter Three: It's Him!
KIRA woke up with a throbbing headache. Her head swells as if it was going to explode. She shivers when the room suddenly felt so cold – cold enough for her to wrap the soft comforter around her body. But she can’t believe her eyes when she noticed that she was lying n***d in bed!
What the f**k? Where are my clothes? Why am I n***d?! Kira immediately felt anxious. She has no idea of what was happening?! She quickly rose from the bed and looked around.
Kira examined the placed with confusion and she was taken aback with what she saw. This is not her room! The design of the ceiling to floor curtains was not even familiar! She couldn’t remember owning any dark and white expensive furniture in her room! Her room does not have black and gray walls and it is not that spacious! And most of all, the scenery outside her room isn’t overlooking a wide city!
Kira suddenly panicked. She tried hard to remember what happened last night to know how she got there. The only thing she remembers was her being with her cousin in a bar. She was partying so hard – dancing, drinking a lot of booze and –
“Oh my god...” she gasped when she finally remembered what really happened last night. “Oh my... Oh s**t! What did I do?!”
Kira was hyperventilating while getting out of bed. She can feel her whole body shaking. But she winces in pain when suddenly, she felt sore between her thighs. She bit her lower lip and closed her eyes, silently praying that she didn’t do what she thinks she did. But basing from her aching muscles of her body—f**k, did I really do it? She removed the thick comforter to search for that proof, and when she found what she has been looking for; it only confirmed her suspicion about what really happened that night.
The red stain on the white bed sheet proved that she really did it. She really had s*x with a stranger.
I've really done it, haven't I? She blamed herself. But to whom?
She carefully examined the room, hoping that somehow, the stranger whom she had s*x last night might be around. But to no avail, there was no sign of another soul in the room aside from the strong masculine scent left on the sheets.
She tried to remember the face of that stranger who took her virginity. Blue eyes, firmed jaws and those sexy red lips that she can barely let go to taste. She carefully closed her eyes and let out a deep breath!
What the hell are you thinking, Kira? You do know what you just had lost right?
With a mixture of fear and frustration, Kira did what she had to do. She quickly searched for her clothes around the room. But only to remember that it was torn into pieces. When she looked up at the dresser, she was surprised when she saw a paper bag with an imprint of a famous brand of clothes on it. She slowly approached the dresser clutching the thick blanket that was wrapped around her n***d body. When she had reached the front of the dresser, she saw a post-it note on the paper bag.
'Stay. Wait for me.'
-R. King
Kira's forehead creased as she read the note. What does he mean by 'stay'? Stay, here in this place? She gasped in surprise. No way! There’s no reason for her to stay in here! In fact, she must not stay and she doesn't even know that guy. Her forehead twitched as she remembered his blue eyes. She doesn’t know but it seems familiar. Of course, she had seen many men with blue eyes, but from that man, it feels so… strange. It was so… familiar. Especially when she can see an unknown emotion as he looked down on her. She wanted to know what it is but she can't tell and comprehend.
She hurriedly took the note off on the paper bag. She crumpled it and throws it in the nearby trash can. She stopped when she saw a torn red dress inside. She sighed heavily and even though she was exhausted and in pain, she hurriedly got dressed. The size of the clothes and undergarments fits her well. She wondered how he was able to know that.
When she finished, she looked at her reflection in the mirror. She was ready to go out - her face looks more presentable with no visible sign of late-night s*x. She went to the door and immediately opened it. She was startled and in shocked when two men, who were standing by outside the room, approached her.
Kira seemed to get the attention of the two so they quickly confronted her. She was not surprised when she found out they were bodyguards when she noticed the earphones attached in their ears.
Did that 'R. King' seriously left this two to ensure that I wouldn't leave the suite?
"Where are you going, Miss?" asked the almost-bald guard. The other one is very bald with a shiny head. “Going home?” Kira replied instantly.
The two looked at each other and returned their gaze. Kira raised her eyebrow. No, I need to go home. He can't seriously keep me here.
“Look, I really need to go home. I need to get dressed because I have a job. If you think that I stole something inside, I didn’t, I swear!”
The two were silent but gave her a way out. She felt a sense of relief because of it. She thought at first that it wasn’t gonna be easy to get out there, but she did get out anyways.
She was right about her suspicion that she was in a hotel; she confirmed it when she got out of the building. And she did not expect that she got to spend a night on a hotel that only the rich could afford. The exterior design was magnificent and breath-taking. You can immediately tell that this is a first-class hotel. The interiors even look very rich and classy. The man whom she spent the night with seems to be very wealthy. She just shrugged. After all, she had no plans to chase that man no matter how rich he was. She’s not a gold-digger. She is contented living a simple life.
But what about my virginity?! It’s gone!
Kira sighed deeply and squeeze her eyes shut. At least, she thought, she did not lose it into a cheater. And she did not regret it either. She didn’t know how to tell it but, he was a gentle and great lover.
Wait, what? Lover?
She sighed again deeply. Of course, she could tell already what kind of man she had s*x last night. That type of man with that caliber can make all women fall into their knees, without making an effort, for sure.
Then the face of her fiancé suddenly pops into her mind. She cringes at the sudden thought. She immediately erased the ungrateful image.
Shameless pig!
You need to wake up from your dreams Kira. Princes’ are only found on fairytale and fictions. There’s no way a man that is loyal and faithful is left in this world. Maybe there is some, but there’s no way I could have that!
Kira decided to wait outside the hotel. Most of the vehicles that passed by are cabs and private automobiles. She looked inside her purse to look for enough money for the fare. But she was immediately startled when she noticed that the two bodyguards from the hotel followed him. She felt worried all of a sudden. What do they need from her? Is the man whom she had s*x is a member of a g**g of some sorts? Oh, noes! So much for conclusions!
But damn, she needs to get away and protect herself! There’s nothing wrong if you just wanted to protect yourself, right? Safety first!
It seems like the bodyguards who followed her work for that R. King because she could hear them whispering and telling something on the other line using other languages. It was somehow, European?
“She’s making her move,” she overheard what they were saying as both of them looked at her direction.
She started walking away from the hotel. She immediately looked for a taxi but all of them were occupied. Thus, she was forced to cross the street and luckily she found a vacant one. She was relieved to be comfortably onboard the taxi and was pleased with the thought that those men couldn't chase her. Thank goodness.
Kira pulled out her phone from her purse and saw many unanswered calls and messages from Ally. She silently cursed; her cousin has no idea where she was! She immediately told the driver to pull over. Her cousin will definitely kill her when she got home. She’s 100% sure of that!
After a few minutes, the taxi entered the village where her house was. Upon seeing her cousin's car along the driveway, she was slightly nervous. When the taxi stopped behind the black Vios she handed her fare to the driver. The driver had not given her change yet when she heard her cousin's high-pitched voice before she goes out.
"b***h! Where have you been?!" She almost jumped in panic because of that. The taxi driver seemed to be shocked too and as soon as she got her change and went out of the cab, the driver immediately left.
"Did you know that I was worried sick about you when I didn’t see you at the club?! I thought you got home earlier, but when I visited your house, you weren’t here?! Where in the hell did you go?" asked Ally without even pausing for a minute. Kira couldn't help but smile. She noticed one of her neighbors who seemed to be disturbed by Ally's voice.
Hayst.
"Good morning, Ally," she greeted instead. She was not surprised to see the look on Ally’s face – like she could eat a person because of frustration. But her cousin approached her without replying and smacked her in the arm.
"Ouch!” she muttered as she rubbed her arm.
"Hmmph! You haven't answered my question yet!" Ally yelled at her again. She sighed because of that. Sometimes Ally can really be overprotective because she’s worried about her. And she's the only family she has right now.
“Let’s just talk inside the house, shall we?” she replied while walking towards the gate.
"Kira! Are you even listening to me?!" Ally yelled at her as they entered the house. She sighed then went straight to the sofa. She was tired - very tired.
“Kira?" asked Ally in a concerned voice. Kira just looked at her and didn’t bother to answer. Ally was now worried, she then asked: "Are you alright?"
She nodded in response and then closed her eyes again. She heard Ally took a deep sigh and then spoke again.
“Where have you been? I tried to call your phone but it's out of reach. I also bombarded you with some text messages. Did you know that I didn't sleep well last night because I’m worried that something bad might happen to you? I almost went to the police to report that you’re missing!”
It was at that moment when Kira finally woke up. She rose from the sofa and sat comfortably. She took a deep breath then looked at Ally.
"Sorry Als, I was just ..." she didn’t finish speaking as they heard the doorbell rang. They look at each other until Ally volunteered to get the door. Ally soon returned inside with a confused look carrying mails in her hand.
"Letter of Notice?" she asked Kira as she handed her the mail. Kira immediately opened the letter and read it. She was surprised when she found out that it came from the bank where they got the house mortgage. She was nervous.
"Kirs.."
The letter says that she has three months to pay her bank debts. She relinquished the title of the house and land to the bank to pay for her parents’ hospital bills as well as the expenses on their funeral.
Ally sat beside her. Kira was sealing the letter when- "What the heck! I thought you had one more year to pay off your bank debt?!" Ally said angrily.
Kira sighed and placed the letter on the table. She put her palm on her forehead.
Argh! Why these problems are occurring at the same time?!
Now, where would she get the money to pay for the bank? This house is very important to her. This is the only memory she has of her parents, and the only thing left to her. She had no choice before - she had no other source of money to pay for her parents’ hospitals bills. Thus, she was forced to give up the house. It was the last option on her list, heck it wasn’t an option at all. But no one wanted to help her. Ally offered her money but she didn't accept it because she knows that they were also facing financial problems at home. Even though it was against her will, she was compelled to sell the house.
"Kirs? Are you okay? Do you need anything?"
"I'm okay, Als," Kira replied while looking at her cousin. She looked concerned. Kira smiled at her. "Aren't you going to work? It’s Thursday!" she asked instead.
Ally seemed to remember that she had to go to work and she got up right away.
"Damn! Of course!" she got up and started to walk towards the door. She paused for a minute, turned back to look at her and said, "Let's talk later." And she walked out of the house. Kira just sighed again.
She looked at the letter above the table again. She was reminded of her ten million pesos debt. Where in hell could I get that kind of money in just three months?
"WHY are you late Miss dela Vida?"
Kira bit her lower lip when she heard her manager's voice. She turned away and saw her standing behind her. She looks pissed and she could see her eyebrows rising judgmentally beneath her bangs.
"Good morning, Miss Catintin!" Kira greeted politely. But the unmarried woman raised her eyebrows instead.
"There’s nothing good in the morning, Miss dela Vida, especially now that the boss is coming,” she said with authority her voice. “Follow me in my office. I need you to do something for me,” said her manager as she walked past her. She immediately followed her. As they reach her office, Miss Catintin handed a bunch of folders.
"Fix the finances written there. The boss wants to see it later. Also, review the list of expenses last month, the boss wants to see it too. And please do it as soon as possible. Remember, you did not report here yesterday and today you came in late,” she reminded her.
She was slightly taken aback by what her manager told her. Yes, she thought about going to work for just half a day since she won’t accomplish anything if she will stay in her house all day. Besides, she needs to work to pay off her debts.
"Yes, ma'am. I’m very sorry if I didn’t report to work yesterday and if I came in late today. I am not feeling well lately," she explained.
Her manager nodded and sent her back to work. She started working on the finances and list of expenses that have been assigned to her. She spent the whole afternoon, encoding and reviewing everything. Her back and eyes were aching because, she almost camp at her cubicle for nearly five hours! And when she finished everything, she felt, relieve!
When Miss Catintin asked for the file, she was able to submit it one time.
"You can go now. You don’t look very well. You need to rest. Take a one-day break; I don't want anyone to work while they’re sick. Besides, I don’t want others to be infected by your illness; we could lose a lot of good employees if that ever happens." After that remarked, Kira's manager turned her back and made her exit through the door.
Kira smiled at what she had heard. Although her manager is quite strict, somehow, she had a kind heart.
She organized her table and fixed some of her things before she decided to go home. Many of her co-employees told her to get some rest so that she would feel better. Actually, she’s not sick. She is not just feeling well. If we count the fact that she couldn't walk properly because of—she dismissed the thought immediately.
That man.
When she got out of their office and quickly walked towards the lift’s direction. She was relieved to know that she was alone inside. When she reached the lobby she quickly walked towards the exit of the building. But she suddenly stopped midway when she saw someone familiar along the way.
Two familiar-looking men entered the building. And she can’t believe her eyes until she recognized the two. 'Those were the bodyguards who were chasing me! Why are they here?! She immediately hid to a nearby vase of plant that was large enough to cover her. She doesn’t want to be found. She needs to hide from them!
But why is she hiding? She didn’t do anything wrong!
Kira examined the place and looked if the men were still there. But she almost cursed and prayed to every saint she knew to help her when she saw that they were coming in her direction. So before they could even notice her, she pushed herself further and hid carefully behind the vase. She knows she couldn't keep hiding in there forever. But that’s the only way she knew!
While observing the guards from afar, she concluded that the bodyguards were either waiting for someone or they might be looking for someone. She even caught the attention of other employees, and she just gives them 'sshh' sign when they looked at her direction.
Kira covered her mouth to prevent herself from making any noise. She just saw one of the guards looking at her hiding place.
"Look for her. Trust me, you don’t want to see me angry.” Kira heard a man speak. He could not help but take a glimpse at the man who was talking. His voice was quite familiar.
From where she stands, she could all see them from behind. There are quite a few people around. The three headed towards the elevator. As far as she knows, it's the boss's personal elevator. But again, she pushed herself to the corner of the vase when she noticed that the man in the middle turned around and looked at her direction.
Kira's position enabled her to clearly see who is going in and out of the elevator. And when the three of them entered the elevator, her eyes went wide as she recognized the man from the elevator. Their gaze almost met but fortunately, she hid herself on time.
She was clutching her chest. She could feel her heart beating faster. Gosh! That’s why his voice sounds familiar! It's him!
But, what is he doing here?
