Julius returned to the cave and was immediately greeted by Eisha who was in the middle of processing the monster corpses that the homunculi had brought back.

“Julius, welcome home~”

Julius placed the monster corpses he was shouldering to the side and scooped up Eisha in the middle of her work. He didn’t mind the fact that her hands had turned into monstrous claws that were dripping with monster blood.

“I’m back, Eisha,” Julius gave her a deep kiss before putting her back down. He still had his arms wrapped around her as he stared deep into her eyes affectionately. 

Even though he was living his life normally, Julius was constantly being tortured by the numerous voices inside his head. After acknowledging Eisha as his wife, she had become the anchor that kept him sane.

He leaned in for another kiss to which Eisha gladly reciprocated. Eisha giggled in delight at his return home greeting. She had longed for these tiny shows of affection so she was living the dream right now.

“Prince, let me wash my hands first~”

“Alright,” Julius let her go and Eisha went to get her hands cleaned. “Next time, just let the homunculi do it or just wait for me!”

“It’s alright Prince, I’m used to working so don’t mind me~”

Once the homunculi were finished stacking the corpses together and bringing the parts Eisha already processed, he quickly began absorbing them.

The Food and Iron resource only showed up in his system window, but they hadn’t physically disappeared like the Flesh and Blood. However, he received a prompt right after.

After he received the system prompts, Julius began feeling unsteady. His head began throbbing as his body felt bloated.

[Warning: Host has absorbed too many resources and quickly build storage buildings!]

“Damn, why didn’t you tell me that I had a limit…”

Julius hastily created 2 buildings of each storage building type. He placed them together on one side of the cave. Eisha had quickly rushed to his side before he nearly collapsed. She set him down carefully and the two waited for the buildings to be completed. 

The buildings all had similar shapes with only a few minor differences. He quickly transferred all of the resources he had absorbed into those storage units and quickly felt steady again.

[Note: Storage units have been completed. Any viable sources of materials brought into the cave will immediately be turned into resources.]

“Ah, that’s good…”

Julius stood up and went to clean himself. The evening was already upon them so Julius wanted to get ready for their long night ahead. He still remembered the innumerable amount of red dots on his minimap from yesterday, cleaning them all up was going to take a very long while.

He already had enough resources for the Fiend’s Dwelling so he quickly created one. It was going to take a while for completion since the system estimated around 2-3 days so they would use that time to clear out as many insect monsters as they could. 

Unfortunately, Julius lost a homunculus since one was needed to ‘build’ the Fiend’s Dwelling.

It didn’t matter, however, because they weren’t going to exterminate every one of them just yet. Julius still needed to develop his forces before he could take on such an extreme task.

“Eisha, get ready for a long night. We’ll be hunting those ants until we’re tired of it!”

“Yes!”

While they were waiting, the two didn’t forget to eat. Since they finally had some Food resources, Julius decided to see what it was. When he tried to take some from the Food Cache, a large slab of meat popped out.

It didn’t look raw, in fact, it had that golden-brown color of well-roasted meat. He took a bite out of it and the flavor was just like its appearance, it was good.

He took another one and gave it to Eisha who ate it deliciously. It had been a while since they had a proper taste of meat. The only things missing were the side dishes and some seasoning. 

It didn’t taste bland perse but it didn’t have that human touch. They were Fiends now so it didn’t matter anything, however, human food tasted good.

“Eisha, we really need to procure some seasonings. Salt, pepper, and stuff like that.”

Eisha gulped down the last piece of her slab of meat and said, “Maybe we can find some kind of village past the forest that Prince found earlier?”

“Hopefully.”

The two had to wait for a bit longer before the monster insects dug themselves out from underground. In the meantime, Julius opened up the status screens for Eisha and all of the units he commanded.

The faceless homunculi all had the same stats while Proto actually had better stats and skills than they did despite it being a homunculus like them.

Well, unlike the other homunculi who were spawned by the Creation Pods, Proto was created directly from Julius’s flesh and blood. It was bound to have some advantages compared to the other ones since it was unique.

They patiently waited until finally, the ground began rumbling as the shrieks and cries of the monsters finally emerged. Julius’s minimap began to overflow with the color red.

“It’s time to hunt!”

Julius had assigned his homunculi into two teams, an assault team and a retrieval team. The assault team, as their name suggests, would be in-charge of attacking and killing while the other team was tasked with retrieving the corpses and returning them to base.

Julius, Eisha, Proto, and 5 other homunculi were in the assault team while the remaining homunculi were in the retrieval team. The operation immediately began as they all rushed out of the cave. 

With all their minds connected, Julius and his forces all moved like a single organism. It was the first time Julius was personally leading a campaign like this against monsters, but the feeling was exhilarating.

Eisha had already used her Metamorphosis skill to change her body into a more suitable combat form. Her hands and changed into claws with her nails stretching out menacingly. 

There was a slit on her forehead with a red jewel embedded inside like an eye and she had sprouted bat-like wings that were capable of flight. Her teeth sharpened as her mouth transformed into something resembling the faceless homunculi’s mouths.

Her skin had turned a pale grey color and so did her hair. Her eyes had become slit-pupilled as her irises changed into a ghastly red color.

The skill transformed her to become like this and she hadn’t imagined the form at all. She looked through the eyes of one of the homunculus and saw her frightening transformation. 

She nearly freaked out not because of the hideous form but because of what her prince―her husband―would think of it. Eisha didn’t want him to be repulsed by her new form but she didn’t have to worry because Julius copied her skill using his Creation EX and used Metamorphosis himself.

His transformation was just like hers except he didn’t have a slit on his forehead nor did he sprout wings. He retained most of his human features except that he grew 2 horns on his head, his eyes had changed similarly to Eisha, his fingers had turned into claws, and a thick tail sprouted from his rump.

His hair and skin had turned grey like Eisha and his mouth transformed similarly too. Unlike Eisha, his tongue had transformed and elongated just like the faceless homunculi. He also grew a size bigger making him look more evil and intimidating. His form, if anything, was actually much more terrifying than Eisha.

In this new form, he didn’t need a bow because he had gained a few new abilities. He stretched his arm out and shot out a crimson-colored energy blast at the insect monsters that finally came into view.

The impact wasn’t too shocking. The blood arrow only pierced through a few insects before it dissipated. It wasn’t enough to deal a large blow to the massive swarm, but it was enough to get the attention of a few of the insects within the vicinity of the monsters Julius had killed.

They quickly noticed the small band of enemies rushing at them so a few quickly broke away from the group and charged at them. 

Julius only smiled as he sped up. Eisha was also getting excited as the fiend blood coursing within her began to boil. The homunculi all raised horrifying howls before the two sides collided with each other.
