The elven army pushed through and systematically began dismantling the human army’s vanguard before aiming straight for their center section and backline.
The human army’s rearguard was still preoccupied with handling Eisha and her fiends who immediately rushed to her side, completely ignoring and plowing through anyone in their way to their queen.
The Fiends were almost unstoppable as their few numbers clashed with the humans. Whenever any of them were injured, they’d just regenerate themselves by feasting on any of the humans that were unlucky enough to be nearby.
The homunculi pushed through, got injured, devoured a human, regenerated, and continued pushing through to Eisha’s location. Some soldiers noticed this and began making way for the monsters in fear.
No one got injured after this so they released a sigh of relief, but it was their mistake. Thanks to their cowardice, some of the elves who were following after them took advantage and began casting their nature magic in the middle of their formations.
A single mistake led to not only one fatal outcome since once the homunculi regrouped with Eisha at the rear, but they also began killing and devouring the mages. When the mages were devoured, this led to an extreme evolution for the homunculi.

The prompts popped up in front of Julius’s eyes. He took a brief note of this and quickly dismissed them. He was busy slaying as many human soldiers as he could while in his Metamorphosis state.
‘Those aren’t mine so they have to be Eisha’s homunculi! What in the hell is my wife doing?’
Julius had a smirk on his face as he thought of this. His army grew more powerful as they devoured even more organisms or materials. This amazing adaptability and evolutionary ability was something he didn’t know about before.
However, since the abilities were something that was derived from the Fallen, the apparent enemy of the whole universe, Julius was rather perplexed. If the strength of an enemy race could make his race this powerful, just fighting the Fallen head-on with his Fiends was not something smart.
It was a known fact that anything original was the most authentic. His race was just a ‘copy’ of the Fallen. This amazing power was bound to be stronger in their hands than in his Fiend’s race.
The voice in his head always reminded him of their original objective which was to destroy the Fiends but fighting fire with fire wasn’t always the best solution. The battle between his Fiends and the Fallen might even end up in mutual destruction.
Julius obviously didn’t want this, but he’d have to plan for that later in the future. Right now, he was still just a weakling relying on the gifts the system gave to him and he had to deal with the current problem at hand lest he became too distracted with his thoughts and blundered, leading to an unfavorable outcome for this ‘small’ dispute with the humans.
Julius refocused his mind and continued to crush the humans in front of him. He would get injured at times but those injuries were easily resolved. Unlike his homunculi who needed to devour the corpses of the humans they killed, Julius only needed to stab his arm into his target’s body and absorb the life essence out of them.
The process was similar to how he absorbed the corpses of the monsters he hunted or the materials he mined and foraged. Naturally, the resources in his body would be consumed but that was a small price to pay.
A few of his homunculi had been killed but Julius could just make or revive them again. All he needed to do was drip his blood on the homunculi corpse and they’d be resurrected. The repeated deaths and revivals of the faceless monsters dampened the morale of the human soldiers.
The attacks seemed never-ending to the humans despite there only being a few homunculi supporting the Metamorphosed Julius. They had a whole army but they couldn't deal with Julius and his squad. Instead, they began to cower in fear whilst retreating as their enemies continued advancing.
They couldn’t be blamed. Most of the soldiers present weren’t actual trained and tempered warriors to begin with. Most of the soldiers that had come were either commoners or serfs that had no battle experience.
These people were only here to fill in the numbers of the army. The actual soldiers were all concentrated in the vanguard and rearguard but even then there were still some commoners and serfs mixed in their ranks.
Thanks to this fact, Julius and the elves were able to deal a significant blow to the humans.
Viktor was overseeing the battle at a safe spot and he couldn’t help but grind his teeth in anger and frustration. First of all, his ambush tactic didn’t work but it still didn’t matter since he wasn’t banking on it to work in the first place.
If it wasn’t for the pestering monsters at his army’s flank, he could have proceeded with the next stage of his plan which was to outflank the elves stuck on the river but his enemy beat him to it.
He was planning to stall the enemy until he could move his mages and archers into position for a long-range bombardment but even that had failed when the flying witch monster suddenly swooped in from the skies and began attacking his army’s rearguard dampening their movements.
The few that did move to the front were now useless because the elves were now entangled with his army and he couldn’t order them to fire upon his own people. That would just quickly spell their doom since he knew that the elves had some tricks up their sleeves.
However, what he was most surprised by was the fact that the ‘humanitarian’ elves had actually begun killing his men. Before, they would at most injure his people before sending them back out of the forest.
Not today, however. Today, they were fighting to kill. Their arrows, blades, and spells struck true, each delivering a fatal blow or directly killing his men. This wasn’t how things were supposed to develop.
He was planning on taking advantage of the elves’ humanitarian ways to set them up but now, that was no longer possible.
With the elves’ burning murder in their eyes, it was going to be tough for his rag-tag army of commoners, serfs, and some proper knights and soldiers, to get away from here.
Most of the soldiers in the vanguard were trained veterans and actual knights. Viktor’s heart was in pain when he saw the elves decimate them.
“Order the men to retreat! We can’t win this war if the elves are fighting to kill! These bastards...were they waiting for a confrontation like this so that they could kill us all?!”
Viktor ordered the retreat and Eisha, who had her senses honed in on the fella since he had been yelling and causing a ruckus at the far back of the army, quickly took notice. She relayed what she heard to Julius immediately.
“The commander? Apprehend him Eisha. Don’t kill him, just hand him over to the elves.”
“Yes, honey~”
Eisha quickly moved as commanded and rushed towards the fat-bellied city lord. The soldiers around the man quickly took notice of Eisha. However, they couldn’t react quickly enough.
Eisha’s claws suddenly extended and she pierced her claws into the fat man’s back.
“GAHHH!!!”
“Hihihi~ he squeals just like a pig too~”
Eisha smirked before taking off. On one hand, she had the city lord impaled on her claws. Eisha made sure that her claws didn’t pierce through anything vital. This man was the commander of the army and he was bound to be worth something.
She still didn’t know that the man in her claws was actually the city lord. So his actual worth was beyond measure. At the very least, she and Julius would gain a favor once she delivered this man to Vysin and the elves.
“Aghhhhh, you witch! Unhand me!”
Eisha looked down and frowned, “What did you just call me?”
Just before the man could open his mouth, Eisha slashed at his chest and tore a little bit of the fat off the man’s body.
“GIYAAAAHHHHH!!!”
“You better shut your mouth if you don’t want me to kill you!”
Viktor immediately paled when he heard that. The one thing he cared most about in this world was his life. He quickly shut his mouth and restrained his cries of pain as best he could.
“Hnnngghhh.. Mmmrrgghhhh…”
“That’s a little better, piggy~”
Eisha slapped the man’s obese face twice before heading straight towards the elves.
At the back, the city lord’s personal guards were at a loss. They didn’t know what to do, but Viktor’s assistant, Paige Winston, quickly took command.
“The city lord ordered the army to retreat! Quickly follow his orders!”
“Winston, you―”
“I’m not trying to abandon him but would you like to go and save him? Look, that woman is bringing City Lord Viktor to the enemy’s camp! Unless you can storm through those faceless monsters and get past the elves who are now set on killing us, then be my guest!”
“...”
His words held merit. Not only that but when the army below saw Eisha leaving with the city lord impaled in her claws, the commoners and serfs began despairing. They had received promises of riches and food if they readily agreed to join the army this one time.
The city lord had promised them that this time’s campaign was going to be easy and all they needed to do was fill in the numbers. Things didn't go as they had initially expected once the elves began fighting to kill.
Now that their city lord had been taken away, their morale immediately plummeted and they all began retreating. Earlier, the city lord had already issued the order to retreat before he was taken away so they gladly fulfilled his orders.
Viktor saw the movements of his army below and couldn’t help but curse inwardly.
‘Those useless peasants! Save me you fools! Save me!!!’
There wasn’t much his soldiers could do. The mages and archers as well as the captains of the army saw Viktor’s predicament but it was hard for them to attempt a rescue mission.
If they wanted to try and stop Eisha right now, it wasn’t going to be a good idea since she could use Viktor as a human shield if they decided to fire off some arrows and spells. They could only watch as their leader was blatantly taken away from them.
Eisha quickly relayed her success to Julius once she touched down on the area behind the elves.
‘Honey, mission accomplished~’
‘Good work, since their commander is down, I’ll pull back now. My Metamorphosis state is only over.’
‘Be careful, honey.’
‘Right.’
Elder Vysin had already noticed Eisha’s stunt earlier and he had retreated from the frontlines to meet up with her at the rear. When he saw the plump man, he immediately recognized who he was.
“Hahahaha, City Lord Viktor, what a pleasant surprise.”
“City Lord?” Eisha asked, looking down at the obese man. She pulled out her claws and quickly shook off the blood. “Looks like I acquired quite the important person. Will this do, Elder Vysin?”
“Yes, thank you for your help, Madam Eisha.”
“I’ll go meet up with my husband now. I’ll have my homunculi stay here and kill as many humans as they can. They look like they’re retreating now thanks to this one’s orders,” Eisha said before kicking the fat city lord. “Turns out he wasn’t just the army commander but also the city lord!”
