Julius walked out of the Dark Spire and moved towards the north side of the island. He had to walk up a small hill before finally arriving at the Dark Pool he mentioned earlier.
This pool was a pool of water, rather, it was a pool of liquidated negative fiend energy. Julius didn’t know how this came about, but the concentration of negative energy in the air was so sublime that it allowed the condensation of liquid negative energy.
This liquidated energy was gathered into a pond that he artificially created using his [Creation EX] skill. This pond was overflowing so Julius had to create a river that ran off to the edge of the island so it cascaded down like a waterfall.
Naturally, the energy dissipated into its gaseous state once it exited the barrier of the island.
This Dark Pool was actually the spawning point of a dark fiend. All Julius needed to do was provide a fresh corpse or a regular fiend and submerge them into the liquid energy which will transform them into dark fiends.
Another use of this Dark Pool was also to cultivate. When Julius arrived at the pond’s side, he stripped his clothes and submerged himself in the black waters. Even in his evolved form, Julius wasn’t able to stay submerged in the waters for so long which was why he still preferred training through meditation rather than this.
When he arrived at the bottom of the Dark Pool, Julius closed his eyes and began breathing normally. The liquid energy didn’t suffocate him. Instead, they rushed into his body through all of his orifices and pores, permeating his entire being.
Julius made sure to circulate as much negative energy he could inside his body but limited the amount he stored inside his Dantian. He didn’t want to upset the balance he was painstakingly trying to create between his positive and negative fiend energy.
The Dark Pool helped him increase the amount of negative fiend energy he had in his body within a short period of time. Since its creation just a few days ago, Julius had been able to equalize his two energies just yesterday with its aid.
His original plan was to take things slow and cultivate his negative energy but now, he didn’t need to do that. Julius only needed to maintain the balance between the two energies dwelling in harmony inside of him now.
As for the excess negative energy that was permeating and circulating inside his body, Julius used that energy to strengthen his body.
The system showed him two types of training, the first being internal training, which was what he was already doing by amassing both the positive and negative fiend energies within his dantian.
And the second type was external training, which was the training of the body, mainly, his muscles and organs.
The two categories were a little vague because each category complemented the other that it blurred the line that separated them. For instance, internal training would cultivate the energy stored within one’s dantian, the energy point where all living creatures would store, exert, and generate energy such as mana and the like when executing their abilities.
Said abilities would enhance the person’s body involuntarily but there was a limit to that which was restricted by the external type of training. There was a saying that a healthy body begets a healthy mind.
This held true for the internal and external training. The external training would benefit the body by directly strengthening and enhancing the person’s muscles, bones, and organs which in turn would allow the person to store more energy inside their bodies.
An example would be a teacup and a gallon container. Obviously, the gallon container would be able to hold more water than the teacup. This was the same for a person’s body.
A stronger body would allow a person to hold more energy and in turn, allow them to exert a stronger power when they did battle. It was a simple fact which Julius understood from a long time ago, however, he didn’t think it had such a close tie with the training itself.
External training was a concept that was new to him. All he previously knew about external training was the building of the body, but never did he think about enhancing his body with energy or anything like that.
In fact, most people who trained and cultivated energy would subconsciously strengthen their body with energy but never would they do it actively as he did. The only exception would be the dark alliance’s people.
The demons were creatures that were able to directly manipulate mana without the need of storing it within their dantian because a demon’s dantian actively produced mana, unlike the humans, dwarves, or elves.
The giants weren’t like the demons since they couldn’t use mana at all, however, there was something striking that the two had in common and that was their preference in using external cultivation.
They had inherently powerful bodies but they built them up and enhanced themselves through external training. It was rather funny, but the humans thought that the demons and giants’ method of attaining power through the cultivation of their bodies was a devilish way.
This was due to the side effects of external training. Permeating one’s body with energy didn’t come without a consequence. The energy that the demons and giants used to strengthen their bodies would also alter their bodies in a way, that in the eyes of the light alliance, was rather demonic.
Julius’s body didn’t change in any way because his [Metamorphosis] enabled him to do that at will so he was able to maintain his normal form.
To the demons and giants, training their bodies and the number of mutations that were mostly positive such as growing an extra pair of limbs, eyes, wings, or horns, was like the laurels they used to measure up the strength of an individual.
The more mutations you had, the more respected you were since this meant your power was at the top and both the demons and giants loved and respected people with power. This was one of the reasons why the giants and demons held the people of the light alliance in such contempt.
The two races viewed the fragile-bodied creatures as insects they could stomp at any time. They were easy to kill and if it wasn’t because of their numbers being overwhelmingly larger than their own, the two allied races would have long since launched a full-scale attack on the light alliance.
They were physically superior and were without a doubt much stronger than most of the race of the light alliance. This was a fact since whenever an invasion happened, the light alliance had to team up to lockdown and kill even one individual from the dark alliance.
Naturally, not all of the dark alliance’s people were so strong that they could take on a battalion of soldiers or something. Only a select few, similar to those like the deceased ArchBishop Tallos and Holy Light Sammael.
However, the ratio of individuals that were of this level was 5 to 1 in favor of the dark alliance. That was just how powerful the two leading races of the dark alliance were. If it wasn’t because the god and creator of the demons had tasked a majority of its children to stay within the Lothur Continent’s borders, the Harrdigor Continent would have long since had new masters.
No one was able to find the true reason why the ‘demonic god’ didn’t allow its children to roam free but there were speculations about how the creator of the demons was trying to open a portal to the demon realm to summon more demons to his side.
This creator was literally viewed by the light alliance as a living god and it was this god that the church of Holy Light was actively fighting against which led to the persecution of anyone or anything that wielded dark energy or cultivated it.
Julius had only recently begun using negative energy but he wasn’t afraid of the church finding out. He wasn’t afraid of the church’s radical views which were quite obviously misleading and mistaken.
Once Julius finished his external training, he stepped out of the Dark Pool and put his clothes back on. His body was pulsating with energy and the thumping of his heart was powerful and if others were around him, it could nearly be heard.
He didn’t notice any changes to his body except that he was brimming with vigor and energy. Julius wondered if he could take Eisha here to cultivate. He wanted his wife to be able to use negative fiend energy as well since it would definitely be beneficial for her.
However, the next order on his list was to spawn a hero-level unit for his dark fiends. Since he was level 3 now, Julius was able to spawn an additional hero unit on top of the free slot he still had from level 2.
If he built a few more sanctums, Julius would be able to get another hero unit slot for a total of 5 in all. It wasn’t much in his eyes, but it was enough to keep his fiends protected since most nations only had 2-5 champions who were as strong or even more powerful than his fiends’ hero units.
Of course, the fiends’ champions started in their weakest state but they had an easy way to get stronger and that was to fight, devour, and continue on fighting to raise their levels.
“The Dark Fiend Altar should be ready now. I wonder what hero I’ll be able to spawn this time?”
