I opened the shop doors, turned on my computer, and started to type up the email for the sizing with the numbers I already had. I had been opened for more than half an hour when the door finally opened and I looked up to see a haggard Jason with a couple guys walking in. "Morning." I called out and saw all the men file in. "Good morning. I brought the guys who didn't get measured and Charlie is getting all of us coffees. I gave him your usual order." Jason told me and I just nodded before he started coming toward the front desk where I was still sitting. "Okay. So, shall we wait for him or just go on with the groomsmen?" I asked Jason grabbed a blank paper and my measuring tape before pulling a pin from my hair. "Do what you need." Jason waved me on and I smiled at the first guy who was closer to the stand. I waved him up and he stepped up right away. I took down notes and when he was done he told Jason he would be at work if anything came up. I got started on the next to last guy when the door opened but I kept my eyes on the measurements and asking Stanley if he was okay with the waist band tightness or if he wanted it let out a bit. "Here you are." I heard a deep voice and I did a double take for the man holding out two cups. One for me, and one for Stan. "Jason said you take it with lots of whole milk and three sugars." He told me and I nodded. "Thanks." I took a sip and it was actually spot on. I moved to set it down with the clipboard and went to get the could leg measurements done. I got all finished up with Stan, and he left as well. "Who shall be next?" "I have to be at work, Charlie you don't mind right?" The last groomsmen asked as he set his cup down. "No, I have the next couple days off." Charlie took his seat and kept talking with Jason. I got Jeff done and downed the rest of my coffee as Charlie got up. "So, what do I do. I know they all had their shoes off." He said as he kicked off his dress shoes. "Just need the jacket and sweater off as well." I nodded wondering how warm he was. Besides also being a Yeti he wasn't sweating in this warm room or his two layer- "The sweater is my shirt." He told me taking off his outer jacket and pausing. "It is? Is it thick?" I asked him and moved my glasses up on my head. "Sort of. I knew it would be cooler in Glasgow than in Billings but-" "Okay. I get it. Umm, how about you and Jason just switch shirts for the fitting-" I suggested and turned to find Jason was outside with Claire and they were having a discussion I knew wasn't going well. "Never mind." I sighed and just bit my lip. "You're the same one that used to date him right?" I paused at the question before looking at him in the eye. Why was he asking me that? "Yeah. Why?" I asked and crossed my arms and waited. I took my time looking him over. Charlie... Charles Monroe. Still had the light blond hair and deep blue eyes. At 12 I hadn't been dating Jason, but when Charlie was here I had a small crush on him, purely based on looks. And now he wasn't some skinny kid who was a year older with a snow board... he was a man who was just as tall as Jason, maybe even a couple inches taller. His voice was deep and his arms were as thick as my size 8 thighs. He was a protector... and everything about him still made me feel giddy and the stupid crush on his looks all over again. "Just wondering. Claire had said something about getting his ex to help or something but I don't know what she needed help with." He told me and I rolled my eyes. "I don't know what she wants help with but she decided that for some reason she wants three wedding dresses." I told him and he shook his head before looking towards the couple. Jason was now leaning his shoulder on the front glass and taking a hard talking to as Claire faked tears. "Claire is a no good gold-digger." He muttered as he started to take off his sweater and I gaped at the muscles and hair and averted my eyes. "Why are you-" "Well you need the measurements and at least with you getting them quickly I can go and save him." He told me and basically waved at me to get on with it. I had to keep my gaze moving as I took his measurements. I tried as hard as possible not to touch his skin, but at some points I had to hold the measuring tape still and just from a simple touch I was getting warmed up. Not to mention that the more I looked the more I wanted. "Okay, you're done and can go now." I told him and moved towards my computer to finish off the email before sending it. But when I looked up Charlie was still sitting on the couch. "Why are you-" "Don't I get to pick out the colors or whatever?" He asked and I laughed. "No, the bride has already chosen the look and the colors. I just send the measurements out." I told him and he sighed. "What did happen between you and my cousin?" He asked as he stuffed his feet in his shoes before pulling on his jacket. "We are better off friends." I told him and sighed. "If Claire comes in tell her I am in the back working on her dresses." I turned before he could say anything and walked into my dressmaking room. "Wow, this is a room of white." He whistled as he started to walk into the back with me. "Yes, white is a popular color for wedding dresses." I nodded at him and he kept walking around as I got my glasses back on. I got the thread through the needle before looking up at him as he opened a drawer of thread. "Don't touch." I used a bit of my magic to slap the Blush thread from his hands with a whip and closed the drawer. "Owe." He hissed out before turning to me. "Did you seriously just slap my hand with your magic?" I saw his eyes take on a glint and I held back my fear. "Yes. I have everything in here organized and I don't need some man coming in here and touching each and every thing because he is confused as to what it does." I told him before using my magic to get on with sewing up some tulle. "That seems simple." He nodded to the dress that would be a fully blinged out ballgown. "Simple is best... but I think you already know that it won't stay simple." I sighed and looked over the skirt knowing I would want something simple like this if I ever got married. "Are these the dresses?" He asked and pointed to the sketches over the three mannequins. "What she has wanted.. yes." I told him and he made a face. "Why would someone want three dresses?" He muttered and I sighed. "Most women only want two. One that is extravagant so they will look their best when they walk down the aisle, and the other is for when they are at the party. Something breezy that they can eat and dance in." I told him and looked at the sketches. "And she just has three extravagant dresses. Why is my cousin marrying her?" He asked turning to me now, seemingly pissed as he looked around. "I don't know. She started dating him less than 6 months after Jason and I broke up. They've been together ever since. And she didn't like him being friends with me still so it's a awkward friendship we have. He doesn't tell me his problems with her and I would have no idea who he would complain to." I told Charlie and he worked his jaw and nodded. "Do you know who he would vent to?" I shook my head before sighing. "Taking those measurements for the groomsmen is the first time I've ever met any of them. She's basically made him get all new friends from when we were together." I said honestly before thinking about it more. "If there is one person he would go to with problems it would be his high school best friend. Lucas Tacket. He's up in the woods somewhere." I told him and he nodded. "Are they still friends?" "He's not a groomsman and he's not the best man... I would bet if there is a friendship it's not a very close one anymore." I told him and he just nodded. "You don't think they should get married." Charlie ventured and I gulped. "I don't have any say. Jason is a good person but he is a man who can't be told what to do." He nodded and leaned on the doorframe. The one he barely fit in. "And how about you? Are you seeing anyone?" I shifted my eyes to the magic still working on the dress. "No." I didn't know where he was going with this... but I was really hoping he wouldn't suggest that I try and break up Jason and Claire. "Then how about a drink?" He took steps closer to me and I looked at him and gulped. "Tonight? I know there is a bar here... and we can get dinner." He offered out and I tilted my head and thought about when we were kids. "You want to take me out to dinner and drinks?" I clarified even though it was simple and plain as day. "Most people call it a date, but yes. Dinner and drinks." Charlie flashed a white as snow smile and waited as I seemed to pause. "Yes? No?" He tilted his head and seemed a little worried. "Sure. The bar has the best burger and fries in town." I told him and he smiled wider. "What time do you close? I can pick you up here and just walk down." He told me and I nibbled my lip. "I don't have much work laid out that needs to be done. So just pick me up when you get hungry." I told him and he nodded before backing up and bumping into the door and then knocking over a rack and hissing as he lifted it. "I should go before I break anything or ruin your organization stuff... tonight." He repeated and I nodded and moved with him to the doorway to watch him walk out. He paused when he saw Claire and Jason making out and I just shook my head. He caved and she was getting all 3 dresses. Charlie walked out of the front door, making them pull away and Jason nodded at something before Claire told him something and pulled away. She made her way inside and I bit my tongue so I wouldn't say anything. "All three dresses are going to be paid for. Please get them done as fast as possible. Not like you have anyone else in town getting married." She laughed and moved to close the door behind her and then walked towards me. "Let me see what you have so far." Maybe I should have asked Charlie to come back by 5... especially if she was going to be here looking over my shoulder all day.
