Suspicions

Ariel was eating the ice cream Diana gave her when she watched the news about a car exploding on the outskirts of town. She smiled sinisterly at the news featuring such a tragic accident. Reportedly, the two passengers immediately got off when the car was about to explode, but one of them was hit by a truck which made him bounce and died on the spot in a pathetic condition.

She smiled in satisfaction because of that.

"That's your doing right?" said Gray who just came and sit next to her

Her eyebrows raised, "What do you think?"

Grey laughed loudly "you bad girl"

"I've been a good girl for too long," she said playfully. "There's nothing pathetic than a caged beast, right?"

"So you let the beast out now"

"Of course, they should know who they are dealing with" she said coldly

He giggled "You met Verra yesterday?" he asked "Every time she sees you, the next day she will be in the news and in the newspapers headlines"

"Yes. She still uses me to increase her popularity. Speaking of Verra, I haven't met Rory yet. Do you know where she is?”

He hum softly "I don't know, but from what I hear she's on vacation with her fiancé"

Rory Cami is engaged. But with whom?

“When did that rotten girl get engaged? I've never heard of it," she said

"The Cami family didn't want the engagement to be public, only the family came to the event"

There's something strange.

'You know, maybe I just can't never beat a demon like you. But what if another demon tries to fight you, hm?'

Could it be that the demon Verra was referring to was Rory's fiancé?

But she didn't know who is it, she had to start figuring it all out from today. Especially regarding the things Cami was after Cartier besides treasures.

"Brother, I want all the list of safes belonging to father" she said quietly, she was a little doubtful about this. But to find out, she must investigate the place where her father kept important documents.

Gray furrowed his eyebrows suspiciously "for what?"

She sighed softly "I have something important that I need to find out immediately" she said

"Okay wait a minute"

After ten minutes, Gray handed her a black box "Here, it's all in here"

"Thank you, Grey" she immediately took the box and kissed his cheek "I'll be in my room if you need me" she said

"Yes, sweety" he replied

She walked to her room in a hurry, he immediately sat on her bed and put the box. Her slender fingers quickly opened the box. Really she had to find the answer as soon as possible, if Cami only wanted treasure, they wouldn't have gone this far. There must be something else.

Some of the paper had yellowed with age. But she was lucky because the writing on the paper was still very clear and she could still read it. She found a total of four safes with their locations written down.

Switzerland, America and England.

But she only found three locations written, in the fourth safe she did not find the location. There's only the name 'Anemone'

What does Anemone mean? She didn't know it was the name of a bank or a building. Maybe she should go to three of the four safes and for the fourth, maybe she'll find it at the end.

She had to find a document about what Cami was after, her father must have written something about it. Whether it's written in a diary or tucked into a document. She couldn't rely on Liam for this, she had to find out on her own.

“Ariel, a moment please” Adrian called her from outside

"Just come in, I didn't lock the door"

Adrian went inside and immediately sat next to Ariel "I heard from Grey, you asked for a list of father's safes. What are you looking for?” he said suspicious

She frowned "I'm looking for something important" she said softly "I don't want you and Gray to interfere, this is completely my problem"

"You know we can't do that" he said firmly "we'll always be there to protect you"

"But I'm a grown lady, I'm sure I can handle this on my own"

"You just graduated from college, why don't you focus on company matters and leave the problem regarding the Cami family, eventually they will get tired and stop" he explained.

"But they didn't stop after five years had passed." She sighed softly “Besides, they also have someone to fight me”

"I don't understand what they want" he said quietly "There used to be rumors circulating that the Cami family served our family, but the truth about that still can't be proven"

"Why is that?"

“Because the rumors just disappeared, for some reason”

"In the past you were often invited by father to meet with the families of his followers and even his special forces, don't you have the slightest clue?" That's right, Adrian always goes wherever I go just go. Because he was groomed to be the successor of the family

"Not. You can live a better life without being stained with black at all” he said coldly

She gasped "But that's the only way to put the puzzle pieces together" she said forcing Adrian to understand "with it, I will have more power and authority. Even the crown prince will always support me.”

"The crown prince and Archduke Coldwell will always support you without you being a part of that black world again"

"But of course he would be more than happy if I was a part of -"

Adrian looked at her worriedly and immediately cut her off “Yes and you can never get away from him" He stroked Ariel's soft cheek "There will always be sacrifices because the royal family will not help you for free, they will ask for something in return"

"It's give and take. It could be that what you sacrifice is your freedom," he said slowly. But that's enough to brought chills to her bone

"I'll do everything I can to uncover the truth behind our parents death and what the Cami's wants with us" she took a deep breath "And my decision is final"

Adrian gasp – he was surprised to hear that

“Even if I have to crawl and kneel to the crown prince and Archduke Coldwell, I will.” she said seriously "I will do whatever he asks if he can help me to uncover the truth"

He took Ariel into his arms and patted her head affectionately 'my poor dear' he whispered in her ears

He kept hugging her. Until a knock on the door interrupted them.

“Miss Ariel, your friend asked to meet you” Julie's voice came after

"Who?" she asked

“He said his name is Damian Lorcan”

And she froze in Adrian's arms, how did he come here?
