In the morning she awoke, red-eyed but clear-minded. Selima was ever the practical girl, and her mental numbness had vanished with the passing night. There were certain considerations that must be faced, and Selima was bold enough to look at them straight on. Shelter was a prime consideration. She needed someplace to stay and hide where she’d be safe from police searches. There was no place of absolute safety, but this ruin seemed as good a spot as any.
