Three Months

~Asher's POV~ Continuous throbs were aching my head. The first 4 hours of my precious morning went into the meeting with a new business partner who kept ranting and ranting about himself all the while and now I am regretting my decision to do business with him. "Tell him to shut his s**t mouth next time otherwise I will make him do that," my lycan growled in my head giving me a severe headache. I shook my head and emptied the glass of water which was placed in front of me. My lycan, Kai neither likes talking a lot nor does he like people who talk a lot. Especially the ones who just rant about them and this man was no exception. Kai only likes hearing only a few people and those people are his family. I gazed at the pile of files at my desk and groaned, I already went through six of them and still, 4 are left to go through. My eyes moved to the clock and a sigh escaped my mouth, I still have some time before my next meeting. A knock came on the door and by the scent, I knew it was Archer. He walked inside with furrowed brows and placed another file on my table, "Ian called and told me that the Fairy King reached out to him with another piece of bad news. Joseph is becoming a maniac day by day, we need to put an end to his deeds otherwise you know a war will start with fairies." I fisted my hand at the mention of that crazy alpha, even after getting a warning from all the alphas and the fairy king himself, he still ain't putting an end to his deeds. Uncle Taylor and Ian also reached out to him and their warning made him stop doing his insane things for some time but now he is again back to square one. "The king and queen are gone for the summit and it will take a couple of days for them to come back until then you know are in charge, Prince. It's time that you should meet Joseph." I nodded to him, "Tell Ian to prepare for Ocean Howl Pack. No one should know about our arrival." He nodded but I noticed there was something else that he wanted to share. I quirked my brow and he sighed, "I know it is difficult for you, but how long you are going to neglect your responsibilities? I know you are already handling 2 big companies and started 1 more last year which is also doing pretty great but don't you think that despite making money day and night something missing in your life? Your pack life. Your kingdom. Don't you think it is time that you should take your werewolf king's responsibility? You know everyone is looking forward to your crowning, especially your parents." "I know..." I muttered under my breath not knowing what else to say on this subject and took my attention to the file which he brought. I know people are looking up to me whether from my pack or other pack. But... There was a wish in my heart since I was a kid. I always wished to rule with my queen beside me. After looking at the happy faces of Grandpa, Grandma and Mom and Dad while taking oaths together, I always wanted to take my oath with my mate. It's not just about ruling, I am looking for the completeness that comes when you are holding responsibilities and hands together. No other feeling can match the level of wholesomeness that spread into us at that moment. "But how long are you willing to put everything aside for mate? You know we can't ignore this anymore. What if there is still more time for her to walk into our life? We can't keep denying our responsibilities. It's already been 2 years." Kai said. I don't think I can let things hang for more days or maybe months. I don't know how long she will be taking to walk into my life. I closed my eyes and with heaviness in my chest, I said, "I'll talk to Mom and Dad about this. I will take the title soon." Archer walked out with a smile on his face reminding me of my next meeting and I diverted my attention to the files in front of me. There is no point in thinking this thing over and again. It took me one hour to complete reading and sighing all the files. Before I could take a breath of relief, Archer and Ian's message popped on my phone screen. Archer told me that Mr Smith is here and Ian sent the reminder of tonight's party at the Red River Clan. It's Adelina's birthday today and I promised her to be on time. I have to wrap up this meeting soon. I walked out of my office to the conference room and saw Mr Smith standing with someone. I shook hands with Mr Smith and furrowed my brows at the man who was ogling at me. Mr Smith followed my gaze and cleared his throat, "Ohh, this is my new assistant, Luke. The old one left his job." I nodded to him and we moved to our seats to discuss the new product that we are going to launch next month. While I was discussing the details with Smith, I noticed that his assistant was sneaking glances at me which I found pretty weird. I looked at Archer who was smirking at me and quirked my brow. He mind-linked me, "I think this little human is interested in knowing the lycan sitting in front of him." "Shut Up." I thought the meeting will end soon but the words that came out of Smith's mouth took way too long to explain everything. I didn't know he had so many doubts just a month before the launch. "Alright! I think we are all set for the launch. If you don't mind can we discuss the leftover things over the call? It's my niece's birthday and I don't want to be late," I said straightening my shirt. He nodded to me and we both went our separate ways but obviously, his assistant's shy smile didn't go unnoticed by me. "Dude I guess he is really into you. He doesn't even know his cheeks were red only with the lycan king's presence." Archer laughed. "Done?" I asked with a quirked brow and he zipped his mouth. We got settled into the car and he heavily sighed, "Finally after eight freaking hours, I will be seeing Maya, Sharon and Skyler." He looked at me and continued, "And you will be going back to your pack after three months. Don't you think you are ignoring the pack? Though everything is handled still... Not going back and meeting everyone doesn't seem like the Asher I knew since childhood." I just shook my head with a smile on my face and looked out of the window. When I told Dad about my stay in the city, my parents and sister were worried about me thinking that I don't want to live in the pack because all of my cousins are living with their mates. I was angry with them for thinking this low for me. I may not have met my mate yet but that doesn't mean I am jealous of my sister or cousins. I will never be. I am happy for them for living their best life with their mates and of course, with their pups. I know once my sweetheart will be in my life, the space in my heart will be filled and every worried thought that people have will vanish in a split second. I wanted to do something of my own. Everything that I have is under Dad's name, he and Uncle Taylor are the ones who build these businesses and I wanted people to know me for me. When Dad got to know about the real reason for the stay in the city, he couldn't say no because this was something that he also did in his early twenties. Of course, he didn't leave the pack for the company, but he built the second company on his own so people know he is not only Marcus Black's son but self-made Noah Black. And I know from where I got the drive to be 'The' Asher Black in the city. I looked out of the window and a smile appeared on my lips while looking at the pathway that I didn't see for months. "That smile tells Uncle Asher missed his niece..." Archer said. "Indeed I did..."
