Big Project

~Elena's POV~

I always thought working is tiring and it is made for boring people. I remember when Becs used to go to the office daily, I used to make fun of her that she has become a slave of someone and working day and night for someone else's growth.

But now, when I am working today with someone, I understood why she always said she loves her job and the tasks that she does. I am enjoying every second that I am spending at the Taste of Tiana.

I have been working here for 25 days and I can say that this place is far more amazing than I thought. Not only the owner of this place is nice and kind but every single person working here is so polite and helpful that for the first time, I think that the moon goddess did bless me with good people around me.

When I came here, I only knew about a few dishes but my teammates helped me in learning about all of the dishes in only a week and the best part is they didn't even make me feel like a dumb or a useless person like my father.

"Yeah... You need people to tell you that you are not dumb. You don't know that on your own. Oh... But you are dumb and you know why," My wolf mocked me.

"Why can't you just leave me alone? You know I don't even like your existence..."

My backfire statement made my wolf growl so loudly in my head that I needed to clutch my head, her loud growl made me feel like my head will explode any moment. God... She is indeed wild. Why the f**k do I have to deal with her daily?

"One day you will beg me to be one with you..."

She lowly growled and faded away in the back of my mind.

I released a sigh of relief, that was intense. I hope that one day she mentioned will never come into my life.

"Are you alright?" Zoey asked while placing her hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah, just a little headache..." I smiled.

She told me to take medicine from the shelf and went back to take the tray from the counter. I looked around me and saw the other chef, Kim pointing towards the shelf where the first aid box is placed.

I smiled... This is the reason why I believe humans are far better than werewolves. These people always take care of me as I am the youngest chef here who is taking care of her nephew.

Everyone thought that I am working here to meet my daily needs but when Chase visited me with Adam, everyone including Ms Tiana was shocked to learn that I have a nephew to take care of and since then everyone started taking care of me more.

"Everyone, here!" Ms Tiana said while entering the kitchen and clapping her hands.

Her eyes were shining with happiness and the chirpiness in her voice told me that whatever she has to share is something very important and exciting to her.

She waited for everyone to drop their task and give her full attention and then with a big smile on her beautifully tanned face, she clapped her hands again in excitement, "We finally got the biggest project that we were chasing for months. Finally, The Taste of Tiana will be showing off their cooking to the biggest group of people. This is our chance team! Let's show our skills to the people out there!"

I looked around me while projecting the actions of others. Everyone was clapping and hooting for the big project but I was standing there clueless. What big project she is talking about?

"Umm... If you don't mind telling me, can you tell me what is this big project?" I politely asked while fidgeting my fingers.

Ms Tiana brightly smiled, "Big companies always host parties, sometimes for product launches or sometimes for their success. We were approaching them for months to get the catering service at their event and finally, after so many tries, we got the opportunity to provide our service to all the people attending the event."

"That's great!" I smiled.

"So which event and when we will be going there?" Kim asked in excitement.

"First, I will be going there to see the place where we will be working and then after 15 days, all of us will leave for the city to give our best services to all people out there. And yes... Elena, I want you to accompany me tomorrow for the visit."

WHAT!!!! CITY AND ME?

Oh dear moon goddess why are you doing this with me? Why do you always throw things at me that I don't want to do?

I chewed my lips and stood there silently hoping for her to change her mind but when she didn't say the words that I was longing to hear, I heavily sighed, "Can someone else go to my place? I mean... I... Umm... You know I have a nephew to take care of and also I don't know anything about the city."

She slowly approached me with a smile lingering on her lips and put a halt in her footsteps after she was a few inches away from me. She placed her hands on my shoulders and in a soft voice, she said, "I know dear. We will be there during office hours only and will come back soon. And I want you to know about the city which is why I want you to come with me. Whenever we give our services anywhere I always take one chef with me to understand the workplace and working environment. You will be back in time, your aunt duties will not suffer."

I bobbed my head not knowing what to say and she walked away after telling me to join her in her office and everyone to be prepared.

I went back to complete the dish that I was making with a lot of thoughts clouding my head. Why me? There are two more chefs who are my seniors and will be able to tell everything correctly. Why does she want me to go there?

My wolf was almost invisible and nowhere to feel or heard in my mind after that quarrel but since Ms Tiana said about me going to the city, my wolf can't stop wagging her tail. Her excitement to go to the city and meet new people, especially wolves is killing me.

"Stop!"

I said while slamming my hand on the counter. Why the f**k my wolf can't understand me and my feelings for once? Why moon goddess needed to give me a wolf like her who doesn't even care about me even a bit?

I took deep breaths to calm my wrecked nerves and found Caleb looking at me with confusion evident on his face and I bit my cheek, why can't I be normal like him? Like other people around me?

You have to accept yourself the way you are...

Some voice in the back of my mind said this and I don't know how... But suddenly I started to feel at ease. I sighed, I know I can't do anything to change my existence then why the f**k do I keep cribbing about my reality?

It has become your habit...

For once, can you please stop throwing statements like this at me? Was my wolf less that even my mind is saying things like this to me?

"Whoa, girl... Are you okay? Your expressions are changing every second," Caleb amusingly said.

"Yeah... I am fine. It's just my head is aching badly."

I wish there was some turn-off button in me. I would have gladly turned that button off in situations like this.

I quickly completed my dish and after handing it to the waiter, I went to Ms Tiana's office. I know she has made up her mind to take me with her but still, I will try my best to convince her.

I already don't want to go into the city and cross paths with wolves, and above this, the excitement that my wolf is showing for this is also putting me in a loop. Her blood is pumping with excitement which is draining my blood out of my system. What if...

I threw that horrible thought out of my head and knocked on the door. Ms Tiana called me inside after the second knock and motioned me to take a seat in front of her. She disconnected the call and handed me an envelope with a smile on her face.

I was confused by the envelope but just because she was smiling while looking at me, I smiled back and took the envelope.

"Here, this is your hard-earned money. Your salary," She smiled.

Is it?

I peeked into the envelope and smiled back at her while releasing a sigh of relief. Finally, I will be able to give Chase what he was asking for days!

I thanked her and was about to leave when she stopped me and reminded me of our visit to the city. I tried to change her mind by reasoning to her that there are senior chefs who will be better than me but she said something which told me not to deny this opportunity.

"Elena we all are looking for growth always. Those chefs already know about this because they learnt this the same way and now I want you to learn that too. You are working great here, now I want to see what more capabilities you have and what you don't have so I can help you build your skills according to that. Also, Zoey told me that you never went to the city, so it will be a great refresher for you."

Her smile didn't even fade for once which made me wonder how she always manage to plaster a beautiful smile on her lips all the time. No matter what the situation is, or how her mood is, she is always smiling. She is such a happy soul.

My experiences were telling me to deny this but whatever she said is true. I need to learn things on my own and if she is giving me the opportunity then I should take it without uttering any more nonsense.

I nodded my head, "Sure. At what time we will be leaving tomorrow?"

"At 10."

"I will be on time."

I said and moved out of her office with a sigh leaving my mouth. I hope this visit will be normal and won't turn into a disaster.
