Sitting at dinner with her parents had always consisted of the same mundane conversation and smearing of Court’s choices in life. If it wasn’t about Devan, than it would be about the fact she is “unmotivated” and “disappointing”, but if all your parents did was berate you, you wouldn’t feel a need to impress them either. In the rare occasion that Court would be invited to dinner, it would be spent with an awkward silence that finished with fake smiles and hugs as her parents would then talk about her in a negative light for the next week. It was insufferable for Chloe as that was her sister, her blood, and her family.
