Four days later...
Sunlight creeps through the lavender curtains, spreading warmth all over the magnificent room. The bed is cozy. It's huge, soft, and has tough hands grown on either side that are pulling me deep into it. The embrace is exotic and comfortable.
I stir a bit and snuggle more into the addictive warmth. Its fragrance is exhilarating yet cherishing. It is special—I have never smelled anything as narcotic as this one. I can be around it the whole of my life and still not get bored of it. In the safety of its sturdiness, I can survive the toughest of the times. My lips curve at the thought, feeling something soft tickling my cheeks.
I have had one of the best nights of sleep of my life in years. I don't remember when was the last time I slept like a baby—without a care in the world. There is absolutely nothing threatening ever.
I grin as I peep my eyes open and blink to adjust to the lights. A very beautiful sunrise welcomes me into a warm and beautiful room.
My face faced the balcony overseeing the vastness of the ocean. I lay rolled on a soft quilt, feeling the misty wild stroking my hairs.
'Ugh!' I sighed, blinking at the flock of birds flying past the wall-sized window. I don't remember walking into a room facing a never-ending horizon. My mind wanders over past events to recognize potential imminence.
I remember walking into the Atharva Hospital. Avika was beside me.
The corridor opened from the elevator and stretched to two broad doors of the ICU. Around six guards were pacing throughout the length. The doors of other wings were sealed shut. However, the lockout was temporary.
I had shrugged the same lab coat that I'd stolen from the mortuary.
'Put on your mask and walk confidently!' I'd whispered as we stepped out of the elevator, taking baby steps to the unit. The guards stopped pacing and peered at us with narrowed eyes.
Avika scrolled the trolley behind me. She keeps a close trail with me, trying to hide in the shadows. Her timidness was annoying nonetheless I kept a straight face.
'Where to?' Someone jumped in front of me, bringing our steps to an immediate halt. He was tall, honey-dew in complexion, and well built. The guards around him were standing slightly away from him—in a gesture of respect.
He has to be someone of high rank.
'We have to take a body check-up. The reports need to be scrutinized by the seniors. It will take some time but it's urgent.' I lied through my teeth, staring the guard right in the eye.
He cannot trace what I have been rehearsing for so long.
'Have you forgotten your manners already?' The wolf snapped. 'What's your name and rank?' The guard glared at me. It was when I recognized the face and smacked myself internally.
Even though any display of respect for the dogs is against my virtue, I had to bow before the second in command.
He was Beta Shantanu. My eyes snapped at the back when Avika whimpered. Shantanu mimicked my gestures and spared a glance at Avika. However, his eyes did not linger longer. There was barely anything that he could see with the masks on.
He has probably engaged to his mate already. It could be the only legitimate disinterest in the marvelous eye-soothing beauty.
I did not delay the official greetings any further. The wolf already had deadly vibes, prolonging conversations further would only push me into a more dangerous zone.
'I am sorry, Beta. I was concerned about Luna's health. I could not think of anything else. Forgive us!' I immediately bowed with my palms joined.
He peered at us a little harder, trying to read. Nevertheless, he nodded and let us be.
'Be Quick! We are just outside in case…' The threat lingered in the air. 'How long should it take you?' He asked, timing his wristwatch accordingly.
'Twenty minutes?' I questioned. However, it was taken as a statement before we were allowed in. Seemingly, they haven't found any threat to Luna's life from the serpents yet.
So much for looking down at us! We could potentially be the first attackers. Anyways, their ignorance was our reward.
'Well…it was smooth.' Avika whispered in my ear, smiling slightly. In reply, I only glared at her. Her faintheartedness could have landed us in trouble. We could have been caught.
I was seething in rage but knew better to keep it all in check.
Inside, Luna Aaradhya was lying unconscious with machines tucked from the various sides. Serving sedatives to an already passed-out creature was not much of a task thereafter. Avika administered the dose before she removed Luna's clothes for my examination.
It might have taken me more than ten minutes to capture the minor details but it was an eye-pleasing sight.
Luna Aaradhya was drop-dead stunning with round mounds, perfect curves, long-slender legs, and a face to stare at. Still, her beauty did not reach anything near mine. With a fair complexion, butt-length long hair, average-sized breasts, and an attractive face, she has longer pounds than I do.
There was a small mole on the side of her breast. Her navel had piercings. Her slender legs had tiny hairs, but the thighs were clean. It wasn't a huge task for Nagini.
There was no pubic hair like I'd expected. However, there were bites all over her. Does that monster hit her or what?
'Please, hurry. Sarva!' Avika interrupted my gaze as well as my thoughts. I blinked and nodded, biting my inner cheeks.
There was promptness thereafter. It all happened in a blurry, fuzzy moment when I shape-shifted into Luna to accustom Nagini into the new shape, put the real Luna in the trolley, and shifted back into the nurse as I walked in.
We covered the bed with pillows and inserted the machines into the sides. The walk out of the unit was quiet. In record time, Avika slipped out of the hospital with Luna in a wheelchair and covered her head while I made my way to the unit to replace her.
'Morning, Mate! How are you feeling now?' Someone pulls me towards a hard surface. I blink out of the daze, trying to have a once-around of the luxuriously comfortable room.
There is nothing much I could see at this angle. Just the high ceilings, POP structures, chandeliers, Air-conditioner, and a side lamp in the shape of a tree. The room is painted in ivory with shades of lavender in some places.
The curtains are coordinated accordingly. There are small wall paintings on the wall adjacent to glass windows. However, the details could not be noted from a distance.
'I know you are up, Lazy Ass. Aren't you tired of sleeping?' A manly husky voice cooed in my ears.
The hard surface comes out to be a naked chest and snuggles up to me more, almost in a choking grip. Warm breath fans over my cheek and ear as more soft peppers tickle my cheek.
Is someone kissing me? Before I could react so much to the touch, a warm hand-checked my temple and delivered a peppering wet kiss over them, pleased with whatever he felt.
'Aary, are you not feeling good yet? Should I call the doctor?' The seductive voice hums in my ears softly. It's gentle, seducing, and concerned. I have never heard a voice as soothing as this one.
I also look at the vibrating sensation. It's a melody to my ears. It awakens the feminine desires in me. I don't remember going anywhere near that voice before, yet it is somewhat familiar—sensational.
Who is he? The quiz surfaces along with the ancillary questions. Where am I and when did I get here? Maybe they gave me sedatives to make me fall asleep. That could be the only explanation. Again, it ain't the hospital unit.
Could I…be in the Mansion? The Alpha Mansion?
If…the man has to be none other than…
'Rudransh!' I breathed out involuntarily, just to make sure. Goosebumps rise on my skin at the skin-to-skin contact. I could not believe I had been admiring my nemesis's voice. It should be a nuisance.
Yes, it is a nuisance. The ugliest squeak I have ever heard.
'Hmm.' Alpha hums in my ears much to my dismay.
I am in my nemesis' arms! I curse Nagini for taking so long to realize it. My face heats up at the thought. My first reaction was to jerk away from his possessive hold, but his vice grip around my waist wouldn't make it easier. Also, creating a scene first thing in the morning will put the whole show off the road.
I wonder how long it has been since I have been here. I have to retreat to Hanuman Hill where Avika has kept Luna—get rid of the b***h before she creates trouble.
'I am good. Great, in fact!' I slurred, finding it difficult to hear my own voice. It isn't mine though. It's Luna's.
Anger spiked up in my body—I can't believe I have to occupy a foreign body. It's a useless writhing mess at five feet tall. Why the hell am I panting and feeling so awake? Why am I still inhaling his manly scent? What the f*****g hell has happened to my wits?
Wake up, Nagini. Wake. UP.
'Hmm.' Alpha sighs relieved. His hold on my waist tightens as he pushes me impossibly close to him.
What the f**k dude? Do you want to mold me in your body itself? How am I supposed to breathe in this situation?
I am left flabbergasted and dumbfounded. My body forgets to respond. Surely, I am no virgin, but the strong touch of the opposite gender, be it my enemy, reminds me of how feminine I am. Self-reliance for three years has almost made me forget the basic laws of natural affection.
And its resurface is dimwit and irritating.
'When you were sleeping in the hospital bed surrounded by beeping machines,' the wolf whispered in my ear. His silky smooth voice is laced with powerful emotions.
For a second, he sounded concerned and…scared.
It instantly pushes me into a dilemma. I try to comprehend his sentences while I rummage through my brain for a response the real Luna might have delivered in such a situation.
Does she flirt with him first thing in the morning? Do they regularly sleep in the same room? Will I have to tolerate him every night? I curse the internet for not providing this important information.
So much for reading—everything about Alpha.
However, my knowledge of the creatures has let me know about the constant attraction between a couple.
The wilds are s*x-hungry and beastly in bed. My brain recollects, but what I am unsure of is the frequency. If they have it regularly or frequently, it is natural to share a room for comfort and convenience.
I curse under my breath at the thought.
Back in Samrajya, the King and I used to have our private chambers. We only slept together in the season to conceive. The rest of the time, I was on my own and could have done as I pleased. I used to love my room. It was my precious possession. I had marked it as my territory—where only I was allowed to roam and rule.
Every detail meant something significant. It reflected emotional b*****e. Privacy is every being's basic right. Don't the wolves know it?
I untangled myself out of his arms and stepped out of bed to take a careful look around. Rudransh stares at me as if I have grown two heads. He is confused and taken aback. Could it be the first time he has seen Luna walking away from him? He bites his lips and takes a complete once over.
'Why are you behaving so weirdly? Did I do something, Aary?' He asks, throwing the quilt off his semi-naked body. His pupils are dilated. It seems like he was physically withholding himself from launching at me.
Did I unknowingly piss him off? Nothing could be as great for the starters!
