Chapter 9: Wet During the wet season life sometimes became slightly more difficult. Unlike the southern part of the state, the rain here would pour for days. The ground turned into red slush and pools of water appeared in the most unlikely places. So much rain also meant the air strip was closed. That meant no mail, no newspapers, no bread, and no milk.
