Prologue

Ethan Davis is undoubtedly the most popular and attractive guy in the entire high school. Captain of the football team, tall, muscular, his arms filled with tattoos are the weakness of many teenage girls. All the cheerleaders want to go out with him, all the athletes want to go out with him, all the students at Silverlake High want to go out with him. All except one. Hilary Jones is the captain of the math athletes' team, an unparalleled brainiac, the best average in the entire senior year. Her hours are dedicated one hundred percent to mathematics; her dream of studying physics at Harvard is what compels her to spend hours and hours in math tournaments to secure the scholarship. Without it, she couldn't go to Harvard. Ethan, on the contrary, doesn't want to go to any university; he wants to fully dedicate himself to football. Mathematics (and all classes in general) matter very little to him. Hilary hates sports. Ethan hates math. Ethan and Hilary have studied together their entire lives; they've known each other since they were small, but they have never gotten along. To him, she's just a nerd, unattractive and dull. For her, he's an airhead who doesn't know how to add two plus two. Their parents, on the other hand, have been dating for some time, something that Ethan and Hilary pretend not to know because there's a reputation to uphold. However, when their parents decide to take the next step and get married, Ethan and Hilary are forced to stop treating each other like strangers and move in together, now as stepsiblings. Their lives don't fit together at all, but somehow, they start spending time together and understanding each other's ways. An accident, a denied scholarship, forced cohabitation... Could love be the only good thing happening to both of them? I invite you to read the story of Ethan and Hilary.
