4. A single between couples

As Alpha Asher walked to his destination, everyone he had met greeted him.
It was normal, wolfs tend to show their respect to the elders and powerful ones. Wolfs who are elders and powerful expect everyone to show their respect to them.
It was their heritage.
Still, Alpha Asher hated it.
He wanted nothing more than to disappear. He hated all that attention.
He stopped his moving as He stared at the stairs beside him.
‘I can escape that, all I need to do is turn right here and I will be,’ his heart’s beats start to increase.
‘Asher! If I caught you doing this again I will,’ a female’s voice echoed in his head. Her voice mixed with anger and scolding.
Asher trembled as the memories of that incident echoed in his head. No matter what he couldn’t forget her threat. And he knew what she will do to him if he escaped right now.
So, with a deep defeated sigh, he returned to his original path. He continued his smiling.

“How is my little pup!” a female’ voice beamed as Asher opened the doors.
The corners of Asher’s mouth turned up before he could see the speaker.
As he closed the doors behind him. He walked steadily to her. when he reached her, Asher lowered his head and given her a kiss on her cheek.
“Now that I met you, I am the happiest.” Asher said in his airy voice.
The woman laughed.
“Look at yourself! Good thing that you did inherit that from your father.” The woman touched his cheek. Her smile blinding.
“no. I am sure I inherited that from you, mum.” Asher smirked.
“So funny!” Maela’s voice came unclear due to the food in her mouth.
“don’t talk while you eat, food girl.” Asher mocked her as he took his seat beside his father.
As Asher seated in his chair, he turned his head to meet his father.
“Good morning, father.” Asher faked a smile.
“Good morning, son.” The current Alpha replied calmy. No emotions showed in his voice.
Then both of them focused on their food.
Not only both father and son had the same appearance, they also shared the same taste in food.
The pancakes and honey beside the orange juice in front of them proved that.
To bad Asher didn’t inherit his father’s skin tone. Otherwise, anyone could mistake them for twins, that and the gap between their ages.
“at least I take care of myself, not like you.” Maela’s mocking respond came late. She didn’t have to hold her respond any longer that now both her father and brother finished their talking.
She sighed in relieve.
“Where is Roan?” the Luna’s brows knitted while looking around the room.
“Ah, he is finishing something, but don’t worry he will- “Asher didn’t finish his sentence, before being interrupt.
“Hi every one, did you miss me.” Roan’s high ringing voice made the current Alpha flinched.
The current Alpha looked at his mate to see her smiles.
He rolled his eyes.
Asher covered his face with his right hand.
“yes” replied the luna. Still beaming at Roan.
“no” replied his mate. Looking at his with her eyes narrowed.
“I know you didn’t mean that, babe” said Roan while walking to her then he leaned to give her a kiss on her lips.
Maela smiled but quickly hide it. She didn’t want to give in, so she didn’t say anything. Still, it didn’t work. Maela didn’t say a thing but her face did as a shade of pink decorates her.
Roan smirked. Facing her, he moved his lips to form a sentence. Only Maela saw.
Her face became red.
Roan took a seat beside her. and continued his teases.
The family started to laugh. Then the current alpha stops and looked at his son.
The scene was beautiful.
Family members who gathered around the oval table.
Taking and laughing.
Like usual, maela wore her expensive summer dress. Rarely wearing something has floral prints on it. wearing her hair in a high ponytail.
On the other hand, the luna always enjoyed wearing them, special on the morning. unlike her daughter, her hair styled in a high bun.
Both the current Alpha and his heir styled like they were going into an important meeting any moment. their hair in a different style. the father had his hair in a slicked back, while the son had it middle part flow.
While Roan looked like he lost between them.
“How was the party yesterday, did everything go right?” he given his son a quick look before focus once again on his plate.
“yes” Asher kept his words short.
“ok” came the current Alpha brief respond.
“I know that every woman wants her son to look like his father, but did it have to be this much!” the luna faked a hurt gesture. Still, it came cute which made the others giggles.
“Is it not enough that both look alike, no you had to be the same with your personalities.” Said the luna annoyed while giving both glares.
“Oh mum! at least it saves time to learn how to deal with them.” Said Maela sarcastic while moving her hand freely in the air.
“Look who is talking, like you didn’t inherit your mother’s- “Roan couldn’t finish his words before both woman glare at him, if he made a mistake, he will be dead!
“Which is a fantastic thing, to have more of this beauty!” Roan finished. holding his hands in a gesture to show grateful, which only made him look poor.
Both women looked at him gleaming, then looked at their husband and brother, who nodded immediately.
“good” said both woman with a proud smile.
“What did you do about that-” the current alpha started but interrupted by his luna.
“Only family talk while eating, not work.” the luna pointed her finger at him warning.
“Alright,” the current Alpha gulped.
“Come to me office before you start your schedule.” As the current Alpha finished. He stood up and went to his beautiful mate. He looked at his luna dreamily and give her a soft kiss on her forehead. “See you later, beautiful.” And then wink at her.
“Dad.” Said both children embarrassing. “We are here!” both yelled at him.
“So what?” the alpha replied calmy.
The luna started giggling and kissed her mate back. “I will see you later, handsome.” And winked back at him.
The alpha started to walk and, in a few seconds, he was nowhere to be seen.
Moments later the luna had finished her food, and she too left after saying bye to the others.
“Man, can’t you stop!” Asher yelled. Trying to covering his eyes.
“Why? What I am doing wrong!” Roan raised his brows.
Asher didn’t answer, he just looked at his sister and beta with disbelieve.
His nose wrinkled.
His sister who in his beta lap, both feeding each other. Almost making out.
“Man, how I am supposed to eat while you looking at me like that?” Roan questioned in annoying. He didn’t wait to hear his friend’s respond. He stood and took his mate in his arms.
“Babe, let’s continue in our room.” And he left with her without even have a look at his friend.
Asher who was left alone, found that his jaw dropped.
“Man, it is suck to be single around couples.” He murmured. Holding his head between his hands.
