Chapter 2 Tour

2017 Words
Ava tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. She smiled slightly, biting her bottom lip while looking at Dylan and his friend Kadae. It was quiet but she was certain she might have heard a growl from one of them. But if so they quickly suppressed it. “Anyways… enough about that stuff. If you want us to show you around we can. Social suicide is on your shoulders.” Ava watched as Dylan’s smile grew. His eyes seemed relieved too. As if he was depending on a positive answer. Which was silly so she knew her eyes were just playing tricks on her. “Lead the way.” Dylan said, shooting her a dazzling smile. “Show me where I can find some food and snacks.” Kadae said happily. He could feel the mental eye roll from Dylan, but he was in danger of starving here. He was a growing lycan and needed his food. Mia giggled. “I agree food should be our first stop.” “Did you guys get your papers when you registered? You should have gotten a map and such.” Ava watched Dylan turn and look at Kadae with irritation. “Oh, there was a map in there? I just shoved all the papers in my bag.” Kadae reached into the bag pulling out crinkled papers. He looked up at Dylan and gave him a sheepish smile. “Geez, there was a map in there?!” Dylan said with irritation. “Well maybe if you weren’t making him fetch your registration papers like a prince you would have known that for yourself.” Ava said with a smirk. Oh, the irony. If she only knew. Dylan chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck. “He offered to grab the papers. I wasn’t going to fight him over it. Besides, I would prefer the personal tour… It would be nice to make a couple of friends here too.” “You want to be friends?” Ava looked at him like he was crazy. “Do you not want to be friends with me?” Dylan asked quietly. “Remember, social suicide? Why don’t you hold that thought for now.” Ava had a faint smile on her lips. Once he heard the rumors about her he would be running for the hills. “I don’t care. I want to be friends. Mia here doesn’t care and obviously, your ex-boyfriend didn’t care.” Dylan cringed when he said the word ex. “He might be an i***t but he isn’t blind.” Mia eyed Ava up and heard a growl of approval from Dylan. She looked at him for a moment but then continued, “As for me? Pfft. What can they do to me? I’m the alpha’s daughter of the Cuff Links pack and I’m one of the top female fighters here. Let them try something with me…” She looked between Dylan and Kadae. “So you two are wolves too?” She asked as she moved her nose in a smelling motion. “Sure are.” Kadae beamed. It was a lie. They were lycans which was not the same but they needed to pretend to be normal werewolves here. “Nice.” Mia said with a sweet smile. “Anyways on with the tour…” Ava said quietly. She wasn’t quite sure she knew what to think of them. But Dylan seemed to burn a hole through her with his gaze and for some crazy reason, this made her excited. His eyes looked her over possessively as if she was his. Normally this would have made her snap… but it wasn’t. She continued walking hoping the sound of her heart racing wasn’t being picked up by their ears. The girls led the boys through a stone arch passageway. There were several leaflets posted on the columns in various colors. Dylan looked at them curiously. He stopped and briefly looked at the paper. There was a picture of a girl with words reading: “Missing. Arianna Douglas, 21 yo. Blonde, blue eyes, 5’7. If you have any information about her current location, please, call any of the numbers below.” “Cole Irland puts those up. Arianna was his girlfriend. She was one of the students who went missing last semester and no one knows what happened to her.” Mia frowned. “It’s really creepy about the disappearances. Some think it is a cult at the school or something. Or runaways. It can be a lot of pressure being from renowned families and needing to perform well.” Ava watched as Dylan and Kadae stared at the picture. They were new so they probably haven’t heard about the disappearances. She wondered what they thought about it. “I guess the number of disappearances isn’t too disturbing… no one has lifted a finger to do anything about it yet.” Mia sighed in agitation. “You would think at bare minimum one of the leaders from the four clans would at least find it worth their while. I guess it will take someone higher up to disappear before they bother.” Mia said with a biting tone. “Mia, we are a school full of magic. We don’t need the help of the royals. If you are weak then don’t travel alone. Simple as that.” Ava didn’t mean to sound so unfeeling, but it just popped out. The idea of the royals and possibly lycan’s coming here unnerved her. They didn’t need that there. Surely whatever was happening here it would get stopped soon. Whether it be a cult, running away or foul play. The students here were capable. It was an elite university. “You don’t travel alone do you?” Dylan asked, pinning his gaze on Ava. She shrugged. “Sometimes. I’m not exactly afraid of whatever is going on. If someone is taking people they’ll be in for a surprise if they try to take me.” “Oh wow… she talks so big for being an omega.” Ava snapped her head to the venomous tone. She knew that voice. The petite brown-haired, green-eyed girl came strolling around the corner wearing a half shirt to emphasize her chest even more. “Oh, Ava. Don’t go trying to fool others since you couldn’t keep your last boyfriend satisfied.” Brittany’s poisonous smile spread over her lips. “You curious where the expression fairy dust actually comes from?” Mia growled lowly. “Relax Mia. She isn’t worth getting expelled over. And we both know her daddy will pay her way out of expulsion.” Ava rolled her eyes and placed her hand on Mia’s shoulder. “As if you could do anything to me… omega.” Ava smiled at Brittany. “One day… we won’t be in school anymore. And that day your parlor tricks will not save you from the nightmare I will imprint on your soul.” “You don’t have the personality of an omega.” Kadae said, tilting his head to the side and examining Ava. If this girl was going to be his luna and future queen, she needed to be tough. An omega would hardly be a suitable mate for the future king. “Brittany has spread the rumor since day one that I am an omega-” Ava started but Brittany talked over her loudly. “She doesn’t go to battle classes, ever. No one has seen her shift or fight. There is only one reason at this school to hide your abilities.” Brittany said with a shrug. Ava chuckled and shook her head. “There is more than one reason. Of course, a petal pusher like yourself would never be able to understand.” “What other reason is there?” Brittany snorted out with her arms crossed. Her eyes began looking over the eye candy that was standing just behind the girls. “Hiding.” Dylan said simply. He watched as Ava jerked her head in his direction. He watched her try to control her breathing and her fingers slowly curl in. “Hiding, exactly. She is hiding, she is an omega.” Brittany smiled at Dylan brightly. “I didn’t see you at the registration desk. I usually give the new guys tours.” “Yeah and one of the stops is her room.” Mia then made a fake sneeze, “Slut”. She rubbed her nose. “Must be the flower smell on you.” She watched as Brittany’s eyes narrowed. “Now don’t be jealous because I have a lot of friends.” Brittany looked at Dylan and Kadae. “Would you like me to show you around?” “Ava is showing me around.” Dylan didn’t even spare her another glance. He kept his gaze focused on Ava. No other female existed. All he wanted was her. Brittany’s eyes flickered. “Oh… well no one hangs out with her except for Mia. You are new here. I can explain everything…” Dylan snapped a dark gaze onto Brittany. “You don’t have to. I can smell your jealousy.” His voice sounded like a growl as he struggled to contain himself. How dare this insignificant fairy belittle his future queen, his mate. “What my buddy means is… ‘f**k off’.” Kadae grinned widely as Brittany started to cough on her spit. Mia began giggling uncontrollably covering her mouth with her hand. They watched as Brittany stormed away angrily. Kadae was coming to the defense of his future luna… though she didn’t know it yet. “You guys shouldn’t have done that. She will make it her mission to make your life a living hell. At least that’s what she has done with me.” Ava looked at the two with worried eyes. She watched Dylan’s eyes return to their beautiful blue as he looked at her. A warm smile spread across his face. “Perfect then. Us outcasts need to stick together.” Dylan winked at Ava as he flashed her a bright smile. Dylan didn’t care what these people thought about him. Who were they? No matter their rank or who their parents were they were not on par with him. And never would be. “Brittany won’t outcast them,” Mia said with a shrug. “They are too good looking. She will make it her personal agenda to land them.” “Mia!” Ava said, mortified. “Sorry, she tends to speak her mind.” “Tell me more about myself. Am I hot? Would you like a buffet table with a spread of me on it?” Kadae asked as he extended his chest out. Mia looked him over. “I don’t know if you have the stamina.” Kadae choked on his spit and gave Mia a sly smile. “If that’s a challenge then it is accepted.” Ava held her hands up in a T formation. “Time out…not in our room Mia.” Mia giggled. “There’s other places…” She eyed Kadae with a shrug. “Maybe.” Meanwhile, Dylan kept his gaze on Ava. He was waiting… hoping the same offer would get extended his way by her. It didn’t. Much to his disappointment and perhaps relief? Relief in the sense that she didn’t seem to play around with other men. The thought of another man touching her made his blood boil. He wanted to find that ex-boyfriend of hers and rip him apart. Ava didn’t give him the impression of an omega. She had too much fight in her. Honestly, she had an interesting aura about her. One that almost emitted power. He was curious as to what her reasons were for avoiding battle classes. He would be avoiding them too so that it wasn’t discovered he was a lycan. Maybe she was a lycan too? Or maybe she was hiding from someone or something? If that was the case, he would protect her from whatever it was.
