AVA P.O.V
I was bouncing back and forth chewing my nails. Six hour had passed and still there was no sign of the doctor. I already changed my clothes as the nurse told me I was healthy to get discharged. But here I am sitting outside the doctor's room.
“Miss Wilson, the doctor will see you now.”
The same nurse who looked after me, informed me.
I took a deep breath and crossed my fingers silently praying to God.
“Dr. Andrew Parker.” The doctor greeted me and I simply nodded at him.
“Have a seat Miss. Wilson.” The doctor politely said, giving me a soft smile.
“We were informed, you don’t have any family. Basically, you are the only family of Miss Lily.” The doctor started and I clasped my hand in an awkward position.
“Look Miss Wilson...”
“Ava.....” I cut him off.
The doctor looked at me in confusion. “It’s Ava, my name.” I told him.
He nodded and tucked his hand under his chin. He was staring, making me feel uncomfortable.
“Ava..” He cleared his throat.
“Whatever I’m going to tell you....you have to stay strong, because you are her only family left so you have to look after her now.” My heart was beating so loudly that I thought it would erupt any minute.
My hand became sweaty as I waited for the doctor to continue. “Your aunt.....Your aunt has leukaemia.”
The time stopped making my eyes bulge out from the socket.
My throat dried up as a shiver ran down my spine.
But the doctor was not finished yet and when I heard his next words, my world became dark taking me with it.
“Your aunt is on the last stage. If we don’t start her treatment fast we will lose her.”

It was the second time that I felt my head explode. It was so painful, unbearable.
“Ava, you are awake.”
The first thing I saw after opening my eyes was Dr. Andrew's wrinkled yet handsome face.
Abnormally, I smile at him and flutter my eyes making my vision clear. He handed me a glass of water and I took a sip to wet my dried throat.
“Are you okay now?” Dr. Andrew asked.
“Hmmm” I replied.
But my mind was stuck on his previous words, as I couldn’t grab the news.
Why is it always me?
Why does God always test my patience?
Did I offend him?
Tears fill up my eyes as I bite my lips to stop the sobs.
I can’t lose my only family. If I lose her I will also lose my sanity this time.
“This is the last bag and here’s your bill.”
The delivery boy gave me the check as I came back to reality.
My eyes always become moist whenever I remember that dreadful day.
“Okay.” I took the bill and nodded at him but he stood on his spot making me arch my brows.
“Boss, said you have this week only to clear the bill or from next week he is not going to give any seeds.”
My eyes got big hearing him and my palm started sweating.
“It’s been a month, I’m facing financial problems. All my savings and profit are going into Lily’s treatment but I lied to her daily that all are under control. Our business is also down due to my carelessness and Lily chemo will start soon, which means I have to deposit half of the payment.” I rubbed my forehead and nodded at him.
“Ava....Ava.....?” Lily shouted from the window.
I wipe my tears and look up “What?” I annoyingly asked her.
“Bella....” She mouthed showing me my cell phone.
I ran inside the house and took the cell phone from her.
“Bell....”
“Hey, Ava. Sorry I heard your message now. I was really busy at work. Speaking of work, do you still need one?” She asked as I heard the TV playing in the background.
“Yeah, I need it.” I sighed desperately.
“Let me check, I have some jobs to fill up.” I can hear the rustling of paper.
“Mmmmm, what about a waitress?”
“No, I don’t think I even know how to hold a plate properly without dropping it on someone.” I admitted.
“Nanny?”
“I know nothing about baby Bells.”
“Okay, so that’s a no. What about working in my bakery?”
“Bell not again. I told you I can’t work there, Lily will definitely know something’s wrong and I don’t want to burden you.” I sigh.
“Okay what about, personal assistant at the Trocelli Shipping & Co. You’ll be working under Stefano Trocelli.
"You in?” She asked, expecting me to agree. It was a good offer and well paid jobs.
Trocelli Shipping & Co is one of the world's largest shipping companies. They are world famous and most successful and popular companies. All of my problems will be solved.
“I’m in.” I hesitantly said, letting out a sigh of relief.
“Great, email them your resume. They will call you if you get selected.” She informed me.
“Thank you so much Bell, I really appreciated your help.”
“Are you serious now Ava?” She snapped at me.
I stuck my tongue between my teeth.
“Sorry.”
“Whatever.” She sasses me.
“Lily was making her famous lasagne for dinner today, So I was thinking of inviting you..”
“YES....YESS...YESSS.” She screamed on the other line, making me cover my ears.
I shook my head at her foolish behaviour.
Bell's full name is Isabella. When my parents died she was there with Lily giving me strength and a shoulder to cry on.
When I was teased at school she was the one who fought for me and stood by me.
She is more than a best friend.
I sighed typing the email and clicked on the sending button.
"Please God, give me hope to survive." I silently whisper looking at the sky as the star blink, making me cross my fingers.
