Placing his hands behind his head, he takes me by surprise when he lets out a big hearty laugh. “Before breakfast? I could grab us some plates from the continental breakfast downstairs and bring it back up, so we can refuel.” He flashes a wink as if to indicate refuel for round two, or three. I purse my lips. “Umm, I don’t think that’s a good idea.” I use a gentle voice to lessen the blow. Alex sits up, and he’s basically face-to-face with me. Smiling, he tucks loose strands of hairs behind my ear and rubs his thumb across my cheek before standing. “I’m in room 5513 if you change your mind, sweetheart.” The confidence in his tone makes me think he doesn’t really think I’m going to let him leave or he’s pretending that being kicked out doesn’t bother him.
