Doppelganger: The Master

A new (Fake) Life part 1

Walking down from the mountain she started to feel something odd with her as she looks at the mountain path near her, she found what appears to be a bag of some sort then flashback occurs to her and the flashback shown of her birth mother who traveled to the mountain who is searching a fruit or something like such before suddenly being taken by the creature where she left her bag which is filled with food, cloth, and medicine that should be enough for few months before its expired. 

She slowly remembered her birth mother has kidnapped her for more than a few months which should be enough to spoil the food inside of it where she grabs the medicine and the cloth inside the bag, looking at the cloth she pulls out it fits well enough for her to wear it while a bit hard for her skin but it's still better than being naked and let other see her birthday suit. 

Grasping the memory of her birth mother she checks the bag more as she finds what appears to be an identification pendant which is used by her birth mother before leaving her hometown, she checked it and looks at it carefully which later revealed her ID number, full name, birth date, and later the job occupation. 

"Ah... everything is still here, it seems no one never goes to this place," said Cynthia while looking around "Mm... Yeah, better throw away the spoiled food, that would raise some suspicion on the guard" as she continues. 

After Cynthia throws away the food quickly, he tightened its rope to her waist so it wouldn't fall when she travels again as she slowly remembers the previous route her birth mother took before which has a small village located nearby, which she found were guarded by two guards looking at the horizon before spotted her on the distance as one of them waved at her. 

"Ah, I thought you're dead in the forest took you a long time before returning to the village," said the old guard as a sigh in relief. 

"Ah about that, I had my leg injured so I had taken refuge near the mountain, and luckily the place was safe enough from a wild animal so," said Cynthia looking at him curiously. 

"That's good then... hey, why are you silent now she is back. you constantly nagging the other to go search for and now you're silent" said the old guard while looking at the young guard. 

"That's..." the young guards said nervously. 

"Sorry about that, he always been shy when he sees a girl especially the beautiful one," said the old guard as he lowered his head toward Cynthia because of the height difference. 

'Oh, perhaps he was worried about my birthmother that he wanted to go and find her... I can make him the first target later so I'll try to find him when I'm done with things' 

"Oh, please I'm not that beautiful especially there-" said Cynthia as shake her head. 

"No, you're beautiful!!!" shouted the young guard. 

'I thought so, let's make it a bit more natural that I also loved him while acting a bit bashful' 

"Ah... that's" as Cynthia turns her head away while also glancing at the young guard and to her right side from time to time. 

"Ah? eh? really?! Boy, I think you just scored one" said the old guard. 

"... Lily, I have always been in love with you for the first time. I meet you so would you be my girlfriend" shouted the young guard looking at her with hope. 

"... I... do... also," said Cynthia while her eyes look away. 

"... okay and Dan, we're going to celebrate it at the pub tonight to make it official... and girl, do you remember the place? it's the one near the guild..." asked the old guard. 

"That place... okay," said nervously while also glancing at Dan. 

"Dan how about you escort her to her house," said the old guard "I will tell the other that you have always been working hard so I tell them I let you have some vacation okay" he continues while looking at Dan with a smile. 

"But sir," said Dan while also looking back at the old guard. 

"I said it's fine," said the old guard raising his hand in front of Dan. 

'Dan... when I look at birth mother's memory, he is what others would call a wimp and doesn't have a good skill nor ability that I could rely on but even so, he had a good look and figure where birth mother like by bit. Sadly, destiny did not allow it because she was captured by that parasitic father and always given aphrodisiac daily which resulted in her ability to think forever until she died' 

Dan who told to escort her followed her from behind where he admired her figure as he shows a bit of smile time to time before he slowly walks to Cynthia's side and when he almost touched her hand suddenly, she opened her mouth that surprised Dan as he quickly pulls away from his hand near her. 

"Uhm... Dan," said Cynthia as she glanced at him. 

"Y-yes," said Dan as he shrieked. 

"Just call me Cynthia" she whispered while looking at the front. 

"Cynthia? I thought..." said Dan a bit confused. 

"Lily is my alias, my real name is Cynthia," she said while turning her head opposite Dan. 

"... Sure," said Dan nervously before smiling in the end. 

Dan even though he was surprised by Cynthia's announcement but even so he still accepted it like it was something natural and he knew that she was not a spy because if she was one then why did she always go back to the place almost every day and the next thing is that Cynthia was his childhood friend when they were both young and their parents always meet with each other almost every day. 

Walking together the two arrived at her birth mother's house as the two stops for a moment before Cynthia turns to Dan before she opened her mouth. 

"It's okay you can leave here if you want," said Cynthia as she left Dan behind at the front house. 

"Eh... okay, if you say so Lily," said Dan awkwardly. 

"Bye Dan," said Cynthia as she goes to her room. 

Dan who is waiting in front of the door was planning to return to his post but remembering what the old man said previously he thought to stay on the front of the house while from time to time glancing back at the house then back to the street as regularly greeted by the passing pedestrian as he waves back at them and sometimes talk to them as they chat before waiting for lily back from inside the house while closing his eye. 

After five minutes have passed... 

Lily who went inside already returned outside as she sees Dan is still waiting for her but didn't seem to notice that, Lily was watching him before she closed the door where the sound startled him which made him turn his head around towards her. 

He was so surprised that she changes her cloth simpler white cloth where she (her mother) always uses it, she never once used after both of their parents died of a disease that came from the center of the explosion that came by the refugee who managed to infect them with the disease that slowly kills them.  

Seeing her wearing the clothes, Dan was mesmerized by it as he were also happy that she has forgotten the death of her parents which has been plaguing her all over those years that she was lost in it that she worked normally as an herb gatherer instead of something else as it reminds it of her parents who were also a gatherer even though she always been smiling at him and when he was nearby Cynthia, he also felt that loneliness from Cynthia even though she always tried to hide it until today. 

He always felt the loneliness she always tried to hide before today seeing her wearing the old clothes, Dan was mesmerized by it as he was happy that she already has forgotten the incident of her parent’s death and start to live her own life but the Sudden change caught him a bit odd but he shrugs it off thinking it was just his imagination and she does plan to forget things and carry on with her life as she walks close to him then suddenly give a small peck on His cheeks which surprised him. 

“Is there a place you want to go? I have some free time today... I mean if you wanted to.” says Cynthia as she looked away looking a bit embarrassed. 

“That’s... sure, let’s go to the market place there is a new item I previously see before work,” says Dan as he looks excited. 

“Sure, let’s go. show me the way Dan,” says Cynthia giving her hand. 

“then let’s go,” says Dan as he takes her hand. 

The two then walked to the street then walk to the marketplace with their hand on each other with Dan not knowing that the person beside him was a doppelganger disguising as his childhood friend along with her memory.
