Sunshine hits my face as I open my eyes, only to wake up to giggles, I feel someone lying next to me. Mason hid under the covers while trying hard to hold his giggles. I smiled as I reached under the covers and dragged him out while bursting into laughter.
“Good morning my sunshine”, I smiled and kissed him.
“Good morning Mommy”, he smiled and hugged me. I felt myself relax. I had already signed the divorce papers I wanted nothing to do with Michael and his lies, I was going to try to start over for me and my son.
I sit up and bile rushes to my mouth, I run to the bathroom and I reach just in time to vomit into the toilet, I feel someone rub my back.
“Are you okay Mommy?”, Mason asked worry painted on his little cute face.
“I'm fine sweetie”, I said and brushed my teeth, I must have had too much wine last night. Mason and I walked downstairs and headed to the kitchen to have breakfast. I'll miss Michael he and I created a lot of amazing memories and I can't bear leaving the house he and I built together, a few months ago I was so happy but right now it felt like it was all a dream.
I saw the living room filled with boxes, that I had delivered at night. I made up my mind, I was moving to Italy to look for my parents and start over.
“What's with the boxes, ma'am? Are you getting rid of some things?”, Shannon asked.
“No we are moving to Italy”, I said i just learnt that Michael had blocked all my credit cards the only thing he was giving me was the house and the car. Even if I managed to sell them the money wouldn't be enough to go into a legal battle with him.
I had Shannon deliver the signed divorce papers to Michael and gave her some of the furniture in the house and some of my clothes, I gave some to the groundskeepers well before giving them their severance pay. I wanted to get rid of anything that reminded me of my marriage.
Italy is going to be a fresh start for Mason and me.
After making breakfast for Mason, I sat by the porch and watched him play in the front yard while I started preparing for our move. We were going to carry only a few clothes so it was necessary to quickly sell the furniture, car, and house. I was hoping to get everything done in two weeks so I could go and look for my parents, the letter they had sent sat next to my laptop acting like a strengthening potion and I would read it from time to time.
