"What the heck is that!" Mr. Wales sinks back on the swivel chair after throwing his phone across the glass desk. My hands are trembling as I take up the phone. I check the screen and my heart stops. "Husband Snatcher?" Mr. Wales sneers at me as he straightens the collar of his cream shirt. In the five years I have worked for this company, I have never seen him this furious. And much worse, furious at me. He's a friendly warm guy who's only flaw is a sugar-coated tongue that lies about giving me a promotion every year. My hands are still shaking as I check and recheck and check again the video. I can't believe it! This is my worst nightmare! Somebody please tell me I'm in a horror movie. I want this to be a horror movie. It's too painful to be my reality. The video keeps replaying, my heart crushing into pieces as the ugly memories come flooding back all over again. It's like I'm back to the restaurant and that stupid woman is splattering food and the wine allover my face again! Just that this time I'm watching myself on the screen of a phone. The video is captioned : "HUSBAND SNATCHER" I click the screen to see the source of the video... Breaker... He made this video, tagged me and shared it for the world to see. But why would he do this to me? And to even caption the video, HUSBAND SNATCHER? There's a lot of spiteful comments: "She should die!" "Someone burn her alive please!" "Special place in hell for this ugly b***h!" "That Man just wanted to f**k and leave her! The wife is prettier!" "Please tell me she'll go to jail for killing that poor woman's family!" My heart shatters in pieces at the insensitive comments. I sigh in distress. "Sir, please let me explain..." Mr. Wales gives me a dangerous glare, his grey eyes in slits and rebellious. "Explain what? That you'll tarnish the name of this company with that bullshit!" He points at the phone. "I really thought so highly of you, Ms. Mavista. That's why I wanted to give you a promotion but with this..." Silence ensues. He heaves a sigh. "Due to the rules and regulations of this company, I have no choice but to fire you, Ms. Mavista." My heart slams across my chest and my brow creases. "Sir... Sir..." I stutter. "Please don't fire me! I beg you! This is all a misunderstanding! I dated that guy for a month but I didn't know he was married. I just found out that day on our date when he was bursted by his wife and her friend but -" With a crinkled nose, he cuts me off. "The internet doesn't care if you knew he was married or not. To them, you're still a husband snatcher. You have ruined your name. And I can't let you ruin the name of this company as well! It is my duty to protect the name of this company." I narrow my eyes at him. "Are you seriously firing me because of this bullshit? After all the years I've worked for this company?" "There's an old man that worked for twenty nine years and I still fired him just as easily." I grit my teeth and glare at him. The fear turning into anger. Mr. Wales curls his lips taking a file from the drawer of his desk. "We are done here. Please see your way to the door, Ms. Mavista." I stare at him silently, anger building up bit by bit. This is so unfair. One minor thing and I'm out and the five years I've dedicated to this company washed away like they mean nothing? The five years I've been slaving away, waiting desperately for that promotion. And now he's just letting me go! Like I'm nothing! Like those years meant nothing! "So," I mutter. "Just when I'm at the brink of getting that awaited promotion, you fire me like I'm nothing!" He scoffs. "Oh sweetie, you're not nothing. You're a home-wrecker! Women like you should be burnt alive!" I snicker. "Who are you to judge when you f**k fresh interns falsely promising a job you will never give them?" He twists his mouth. "What did you just say?" "Oh you heard me clearly!" I boom, standing from the seat angrily. I have nothing to lose. I just lost my job already. "And you know what?" I sneer at him. "f**k you! And f**k your cheap cologne! It's just as disgusting as you!" I snatch the file from him and hurl it to the wall, watching the papers fly in the air. "And f**k this office!" I snap. "And f**k this company! But most of all..." I wag my forefinger at him. "f**k! YOU!" He stares at me in disbelief, his eyes dilated as if he just saw a ghost. "f**k you for making me waste five f*****g years of my life sitting on the same desk lying that you'll give me a promotion! And then the slightest thing happens and you fire me in a snap of your ugly fat finger! After everything that I've done for this company! After everything I have endured for the five years! You f*****g fire me! " I grab the glass filled with pencils and pens and I hurl them at him. "Young lady-" I scowl at him. "Shut up old man or I'll stick this pencil in your left eye!" With fear, Mr. Wales yells. "Security! Security!" Two security guards come rushing in and drag me out of the office roughly. I try to fight them off but they are too strong for me. "Throw her out of the premises!" Mr. Wales commands. "f**k you Whale!" I scream kicking my feet up in the air as I'm kicked out of the company like a dog. Everyone is staring in shock, amusement and disbelief. "Let me take my bag!" I yell. But the two guards don't let me. I'm kicked outside and locked out. Bristled with rage, I know exactly where I should go! **** It's time for payback! I step into the restaurant with a happy smile and take a seat in the middle. It's noon. Elegant people are scampering in one by one since it's lunch break. All the seats are almost occupied. I almost scream with joy when Breaker walks up to my table. He's stupidly walking into a trap and he doesn't even know it. He's just made this so much easier for me. He grins at me, standing beside me. "Mi' Amor." ****
