The wizard used his magic to disguise himself as a poor old beggar. He did such a thorough job that not even the magic mirror would have recognized him.
He cast a spell which instantly transported him to the front path of the seven dudes' cottage.
He knocked loudly on their door. The envy and the rage boiled within him as he waited for Joe White to answer.
Joe moved the curtain and peeked out the window. The wizard, disguised as the old man, held his lantern to his face so Joe could see it.
"Humpy told me not to let anyone in, but that old man sure looks harmless enough," Joe reasoned aloud. He opened the door just a crack.
"Fine wares to sell. Good eats too," the old man croaked in a pathetic voice as he held up a shiny red apple in the lantern light.
Joe's stomach grumbled.
