Ahh!..... Olivia cried out in pain with her hands on her head as a piercing headache struck her head in a revengeful way as if to teach her a lesson on the disadvantages of consuming too much drinks.
"Ohhh .....why does today of all days have to be Monday? Who told me to go and drink yesterday?" she grumbled before getting up from the bed.
She walked into the bathroom, took her toothbrush and added toothpaste on it then started to brush her teeth. While doing so, her gaze landed at her reflection in the mirror. She looked like a mess as if she was still drunk, isn't it great?
Olivia washed her body as quickly as she could ignoring the messy reflection of herself with dark circles under her eyes after all it's nothing a little make up cannot handle. On a normal day she considers making up a waste of time but days like this where she needed to apply some on her face were actually one of the rare days, where she feels grateful for it's existence.
After drying her body she walked out of the bathroom to her closet. She picked a purple short skirt with white button up that had flower designs on it. Then she applied a little make up on her face to conceal the dark circles under her eyes. Grabbing her bag and putting on her black heels, she stared at herself one more time with a satisfying smile plastered on her pink lips before walking out of her two bedroom apartment, locking the door.
Olivia got to her working place on the record time as usual. She made her way towards the elevator with one hand on her head as the headache persisted causing her to wince a little. While the sound of Olivia's heels echoed through the hallway as if it's baring out the pain hidden in her heart, she heaved a disappointed sigh as the events of the previous night came crashing through her line of thought. She remembered the agonizing reason why she had to drink to stupor.
The thought of her last date breaking things off with her before they even got the chance to start anything made it more difficult for her to think straight.
Olivia and Rick Thomas her last blind date were supposed to go to their real date the coming Friday instead he'd called her the previous day to cancel their date with flimsy excuses.
"It's all because of my unlucky fate and I like him a lot...oh, how I wish I could be with him but that dream can never come true." Olivia sighed bitterly as sadness filled her heart. She thought of the numerous failed blind dates she had had to recover from. Maybe she should just give up on blind dates and focus more on her work since engaging in a relationship wasn't meant for her. It seems that she's made to live a lonely life with no one to call her own, love, share things with and care for each other.
"What sin did I commit in my previous life to be cursed with loneliness in this life? At this rate, I might just end up dying lonely". Olivia kept battling with her thoughts until the elevator's ding sound brought her back to reality.
She regained her calm posture and entered into the elevator and pressed the floor she was going to quietly since there were other colleagues in the elevator with her. She wouldn't want them giving her a worried or pitiful look, that won't heal her wound right now but add to her stress instead. With that thought in mind she decided to block all thoughts pertaining to her personal problems in other to recover her professional look.
As the personal secretary to the CEO of Waltex Tech, she wouldn't want her personal affairs to affect her work in any way possible. Since God cared enough to bless her with a good Job, she still have to be careful not to mess that up as well.
Nelson Smith Walter, doesn't play with his work and slacking off or being unprofessional doesn't sit well with him either. "You can sulk about your life but don't let it get in the way of your work" Olivia clearly remembered him stating these words proudly. At least if her love life isn't going to work out, she should endeavor to excel in her career. Isn't it? Walking out of the elevator, Olivia ignored the throbbing on her head and switched back to her confident professional working mode. She made a turning to the hallway leading to her office which was close to her Boss's- just a thin wall with glass door separated her office from that of her Boss.
Getting to her office, she dropped her hand bag gently on her desk then walked towards the glass door that had Nelson Smith Walter written on top, with some files in her hands. She opened the door with a click sound then gave it a gentle push before entering the huge room, closing the door behind her. She scanned the room and took in the luxurious furnishings once more, as it never ceases to amaze her each day. The Mahogany desk sitting at the far end of the room with a shelve filled with different types of books by the side, the walls of the room coated with creamy color paint. In the center of the room sat a glass table with expensive dark blue couches round it, beautiful antiques were arranged elegantly by the wall opposite the desk and by her left was another door that led to an extra room for an extra purpose. Her eyes roamed around the room in awe till it caught a figure standing by the window, no doubt, Nelson was already there before her. He was talking to someone on the phone, probably someone special to him with the way he was smiling which implies that he was happy. Talking about being happy, that's probably a bad idea to her since he only looks at her facial expressions when he is happy.
But when he is all serious and into his work, he wouldn't give a damn or try to figure out what was wrong with her, so she silently prayed for the latter option.
