Connor's POV "I need to talk to the both of you... in my office," I said. I face my back and look at Kelsie. Her eyes looked confused. She tilts her head and her brows furrowed. I gave her a nod, telling her to trust me on this. "A-Alright, Alpha," I heard Kristine replying. "Have a rest. We'll talk later," I said to Kelsie. Even with a hint of hesitation in her eyes, she nods. She give a look to her stepmother and sister before walking up to the stairs. I followed her while I motion the two to come with me. When we got into the 2nd floor, Kelsie gave us one last glance before we part ways. Since my office is located on the 3rd floor, I let Kelsie get inside her room first before continuing to walk upstairs. When we got in front of my office room, I heard Kristine clearing her throat. She poke me through my shoulder. I opened the door before looking back at her. She's in all smiles while her mother was in a serious face. "Yes?" | asked in a casual tone, "What is this all about?" she asked. My eyes dropped on her lips and back to her smiling face. Even with her calm voice, I can still sense the nervousness behind her smile, "Come in," I replied. I stepped inside the office and let them follow me. I went straight on my swivel chair and sit. "Knowing that you made us went here in the office, I bet this is something important." Denette said and went straight on the sofa seat. Kristine, on the other hand, went to my desk and stand in front of me. "What do you want us to talk about?" she asked, ignoring her mother's comment. I languidly lay my back on the chair. I look at her straight in the eye. "About what happened earlier- "Oh, we already talked to Mrs. Percy. I will be suspended. It's kind of ridiculous knowing that I did nothing other than saving others from being bullied," she shrugged. I feel like my ear heard something irritated. I shift on my sit and look at her intently. She noticed me staring and I sensed her getting uncomfortable. "Who's bullying who?" I asked. She sigh. "Connor, I think you already know how Kelsie acts towards other. It's hard for her to get along with the pack. If it's not with her name, I guess she will be a lone wolf now--" "Go straight to the point, Alpha. I know you're also a busy person," Denette cut off her daughter. I glance at her and back to Kristine. "I know this happened weeks ago. I was busy these past few days that I haven't much time to address it." Kristine's chest rise. It took her a second before she released a deep sigh. I am guessing she already knew what I will about to say, "May I know what exactly happened why you illegally detained Ms. Tamaska?" I asked. "It was no an illegal detention, Alpha. She was disobeying me... the Luna." Denette crosses her legs and tossed the magazine that she was holding earlier. She lay her back on the couch and look straight onto me. I tilt my head and her the level of intensity she is giving me. "As far as I remember, it is against our law," she added. "Is that a ground for beating her up while she's being restrained?" I rhetorically asked. Denette blinked her eyes and I notice her being disoriented. "I think I already answered this accusation before, Alpha... I was not aware that she was beaten by the guards. We punished them severely already... and I heard you had your own way on disciplining them," she replied. "I am looking forward for this to not happen again," I said in a straightforward tone. I know what they were doing.. and I won't let it happen again. Denette looked at me in a serious manner before nodding. "Yes, Alpha... Is that why you brought us here? To talk about my daughter? Then I guess we're done," she replied. "Mom..." Kristine called. Denette looked at her daughter. Her brows then moved up as if she remembered something important. "Oh, I almost forgot... Alpha, Kristine's birthday is around the corner. May I have the list on who will be invited? I will be sending the invites to the other packs. Even Kristine is not already the Alpha's daughter, I believe you will grant her the privilege to invite Alphas from other packs." "Mom, it's alright if we won't invite other packs..." Kristine looked at me. "I'm happy to celebrate our birthday with out pack members," she added. I nod. "It's your birthday. Besides, you are still part of the high-ranking officials. You have the right to invite other packs. " I look at her mother who is still sitting casually on the sofa seat. "I will let you have the freedom to invite who you want." "Great!" Denette commented. "So, are we done here?" she asked. I sigh. "Actually, I am here to discuss our arrangemen...." I said. I've been thinking about this lately and decided to tell them today. "What is it?4 Kristine asked. She made a step forward, excited on what I will be saying. "I know the passing of Alpha Audig is hard for all of us, and I know the transition is a struggle to the both of you. But we all know we have to move forward," I paused and looked at the both of them. "This may sound selfish, but I need to take over of the Alpha's house. I'm sorry," I said. Kristine smiled. "Oh come on, it's fine. I and my mom is actually just waiting for you to open this up!" "No need to apologize, Connor. We know the protocol. And Kristine is right. We're just waiting for you to give the call. We don't mind getting kicked out of the Alpha's house," Denette replied. "I don't think kicking out' is the right term for that, ma'am. Being transferred into one of the exclusive homes here in our pack is a privilege." She nods at me with a smile on her face. "I understand. I also think Mr. and Mrs. Maccon should transfer in the Alpha's house and stay with you, Denette said. "Actually. my father and mother doesn't want to live in the Alpha's house. They prefer to stay in our home." "Really? Maybe your house is that sentimental for your parents to not want to leave it," she commented. I only nod at it. "So, I'm guessing you are planning for your future mate?" she asked while smirking. I smiled. "I am," I replied. Kristine giggled. "Anyway, Connor... I mean, Alpha Connor, how will be our arrangement on the new house? I heard there's only two rooms there and it isn't renovated yet." "I agree. Audig built that house for his retirement so we can have our own house when the new Alpha take over the place. That house has only two rooms. One is for our room-the master's bedroom, and the other is a spare room." I nod. "Then it perfectly fits the two of you. Just let me know if you want to change or renovate the house so we can set the date. But I already visited it and it looks new and modern," I said. "What about Kelsie? Where is she going to sleep? On the garden," Kristine chuckled. "Kelsie will stay on the Alpha's house, " I answered. Kristine almost choked on her own laugh while Denette aggressively stand on her seat. "What do you mean by that?" she asked. Her brows are furrowed and her lips are on a thin line. On the other hand, Kristine looked at me, speechless. Her lips are parted and slightly quivering while her eyes are bloodshot. "Kelsie will stay. Just like you said, there are only two rooms. She doesn't have a room there. The Alpha's house is huge for a single person. I don't mind her staying, " I said. "So you are kicking us out and you let that -that girl stay?!" Denette's voice slight rise. I lay my back on the chair and look at them languidly. "I thought we both understand that I am not kicking out any of you. You are just transferring. And I am doing everyone a favor. I also think it isn't good for Kelsie and Kristine to stay under one roof." "Then why am I the one who will move out?" Kristen asked while pointing at herself. "Because you are more comfortable than your mom than Kelsie," I replied. She zip her mouth, realizing she won't win this argument. Denette sighed. She fixes her stance and walk calmly towards me. She then smiled. "Thank you for the concern, Alpha. We understand and accept your decision -" "Mom!" "Kristine, he's right. It's better if you and your sister won't stay under one roof. It will only bring the both of you in chaos. It's better to stay away from trouble." Kristine gritted her teeth. She tried to talk to her mom but in the end, she lowered her head and let I and her mom talk. "Alright. I will be sending some omegas to help you pack your things so you can transfer immediately. I will also lend two omegas so they can assist you in your new house." I said. "When will we transfer?" Kristine asked. "Today," I replied. I notice the two of them wanting to argue, but in the end, they remained silent and accepted my decision. ----- Unedited. English is not my first language.
