Mackenzie’s POV I’m curled up under a blanket on the couch, reading a thriller that I picked up in a charity shop last week but have yet to find the time to start. Maxton is fast asleep in his room, his star shaped night light giving off a warm glow so that if he does wake, he can see. He’s just decided that he doesn’t like the dark, and rather than try and argue with a toddler that there is nothing to be worried about, I just bought a little light for his room. When he’s older, we can talk about monsters and the like but right now, a small light in his room isn’t going to harm him, plus when he calls me in the night, I don’t trip over a random stuffed animal or toy car that’s lying on the floor, missed from our nightly tidy up.
