It had been three weeks since Lauren was placed in the hospital and we were going over the poison's ingredients, Samuel and Marion confirmed this was the poison used. This particular poison was rare and it kills you slowly but because of her hierarchy unknown to the culprits, her body was constantly healing her organs keeping her alive, I had no idea and I was pissed. The antidote was made but one more ingredient was needed and I had to ask a favor because only royalty had the ingredient. Aidan linked Dominic and we waited for the dragon as Ty appeared with him, Dominic was all smiles and asked, "Why was I summoned, Your Majesty?" We could see he was in a robe smelling of s*x and knew what he was doing, I told him about my daughter and he was confused saying, "You have a lot of secrets cold one."

Marion explained about the ancient poison called 'Dragon's Fire' and Dominic opened his eyes wide in shock and said, "She survived all these years," taking the file out of my hand. He was reading the notes as his eyes glowed, you could see he was talking to his dragon, Ragnon. He was walking a hole in the ground and Aidan said, "Dom, what is it? You seem lost in thought," he turned to us saying, "You don't understand dragon fire is rare, no one has access to that, the antidote will work but not for long," and I felt defeated. He looked at me and said, "She will need to take the antidote and it will slow it down but eventually, it will wear her body down, she will die, this killed my father after a few thousand years. We didn't know what was killing him until after he died and my mother regretted everything because the actual fire of the dragon will burn the poison out."

I looked at him and said, "But no one can withstand the dragon's fire, Dominic, you will kill her," he said, "I know but you will have a few more years with her without that dragon's fire." I knocked the glass off the table in my frustration, I was losing my daughter and I finally broke, Aidan walked over to me, and I could feel my tears when Marie appeared and hugged me. Ty said, "Maybe we should kill her and bring her back," Dominic said, "I'm not sure it will work," when Aidan said, "It wouldn't, we will bring her back but she will still have the poison running through her veins, we could use magic to slow it down," and he looked at me saying, "It would give you more years with her," and I said, "I can't Aidan, I can't lose her, I failed her and I made a promise to her," before I walked out.

Two Years Later

I was watching Lauren playing with Blair in the pool she was acting so childlike and Marion confirmed she would die soon, she had already lived longer than the former Dragon King. That is why she keeps relapsing so often, she is dying, and it's beginning to take its toll on her body, she looks so pale and frail now. It was her birthday and we wanted to make it special for her, Piot had already made plans for a state funeral because we would announce she was royalty, Eli was pissed about the situation and was still helping Marion find ways to slow it down. However, after telling her the truth, she rather not let us slow it down, she was tired and had accepted her fate, she told us that she would be with her grandmother and we cried that night. Jasper held my hand trying to comfort me when Dominic and Aidan appeared linking me saying, "We found a solution," I walked over to Lauren giving her a hug and kiss before heading into the office to have this meeting. I was not getting my hopes up yet when Dominic said, "I know how we can save, Lauren, the dragon fire was made with a dragon's venom, not just any dragon, a King. I said, "So, you will save her then," and he looked at me saying, "There's one problem," and I yelled, "What is it, Dominic?" He looked at me, "I cannot do it, Elijah," I said, "What do you mean you cannot do it? She is my daughter, Dominic," and he said, "Elijah, hear me out, I cannot do it because I am already mated," and I was confused. Aidan said, "The dragon fire was made with the blood of a King and only the bloodline of a King can save her, once that happens, Lauren will be mated to the dragon who saved her," I closed my eyes taking in a breath. My mother was mated to Domar and Dominic was already mated for years," I turned around saying, "Allan, he is not mated," and Dominic said, "We asked him, he is outside," and I ran through the door to see him talking to Lauren.

I decided to drop in on my future mate since she was having a birthday, I was shocked she survived so long with the poison in her system. I walked over to her and gave her a dragon stone for protection placing it around her neck, I told her it was a birthday gift and she was excited when I felt the others watching us.

She turned around saying, "Look Papa, look what he got me," showing Elijah, she got up so suddenly holding her head, and she almost fell when I caught her, she was weak. She was having a bad reaction to the stone and Aidan linked everyone to leave, Piot stayed with a robe, and I told them, "She is dying, we can't wait for another time, we have to do it now." I looked at Elijah and Piot and said, "Are you sure about this because I have to have s*x with her right after?" Elijah said, "Lauren, we are going to save you but you need to consent to this," she looked at me saying, "He is cute," and I wanted to smile but this was serious. I asked, "Do you wish to mate me after this because you will be out of it," and she kissed me saying, "Yes, I accept you."

She screamed as her veins darkened, it was now or never, she went unconscious, I told everyone who couldn't withstand dragon fire to leave as I started to change. Everyone left, leaving Aidan and Dominic, Domar showed up as I rested her on the ground and spread my wings, and the stone glowed. My dragon Motan said, "Wake up, Lauren," she opened her eyes, and they glowed, I inhaled and released the fire burning her body, it didn't catch fire as the fire turned blue, cleansing her body. Dominic walked over and shoved the potion down her throat, we watched her veins turn blue until they turned clear and then I landed next to her, I changed back and watched her color come back, Piot ran over covering her body as I was handed a robe. I picked her up and they led me to a room to give us privacy, I laid her on the bed, the stone was glowing and then she started to heat up.

She was ready to mate so she opened her eyes as my mark appeared on the back of her shoulder. I felt the bond and knew she felt it too, we looked at each other as I climbed on top of her and consummated the bond. I came out a few hours later, Lauren was asleep and I saw clothes outside on a chair in the hall, I put them on and went out to meet Elijah. He saw my mark and smiled hugging me, and he thanked me for saving his daughter's life, Piot was happy too and I turned to him and said, "So, where is the food, Dad?" Elijah looked at me, his face turned stoic, he wasn't smiling anymore, he rolled his eyes walking out realizing I was now his son-in-law. I was requesting a big wedding winking at Piot who cursed me under his breath and walked out, they love me, I know it as I laughed knowing that I annoyed them.
