Chapter 37: Confrontations and Surprises

1724 Words
One Year Later Elijah Things have settled down lately, Barron was in Ironside on business, he was meeting with Simon who refused to be in the same room as his family. I don't blame Simon for being angry at us but I fear that he would get caught up in the crossfire, Aidan hired him to help find low-income housing for the homeless all over Revena so he can keep an eye on him and hopefully change his mind. Later, he will be doing business in Rogueland in a few weeks and I will be there on this one. I was looking out the window from my office and the door opened and I knew it was Amara, she had twin boys a few months back and I was happy for her. I turned around and said, "It's nice to see you, Amy, what brings you down here?" She said, "I took the train, I will go back to Bearmore but I have to talk to you about, Simon." I smiled and said, "It's been a year, Amy," and she smiled saying, "I know, I couldn't deal with it then but now I need to deal with it, I am ready." I walked her over to the couch and we sat down, I gave her a blood bag and she looked at me and asked, "Why did you save him? I am not angry that you did but why did you save him?" I told her, "I looked into his eyes, he had your eyes and your smile, he took his little hand and wrapped it around my finger and smiled, I couldn't send him to his father to be killed and I knew you were traumatized. I could have kept him and raised him as my son but I had too much going on back then and if I knew Piot would have stepped up as he did with Lauren, he wouldn't be angry at us." She said, "I had thought about him over the years, I guess deep down, I knew that he was alive, I hated what happened to me and didn't want his baby because I was scared, Elijah. Now, I have a son who hates me, I never even told my mates about him and the conversation I had with them was not easy but they didn't judge me, they understood why I did it." I knew this was hard for Amara, and I watched her leave knowing she wanted to connect with him and that Simon wouldn't want any other part in this life. I wish things would be different but we need to focus on finding Fury and the others before he strikes, he had been quiet lately and that could mean only one thing, he was building his strength to go after me and Barron together. The day went by pretty quickly and I decided to head home, I was going around the corner from the building when I saw Jakey with shopping bags heading towards a restaurant, I pulled up next to him and he looked at me and bowed his head coming to the car. I said, "We need to talk," he looked around and said, "I was getting dinner....," I cut him off, "Get in the car, Jonx," he froze composing himself quickly before smiling and saying, "I think you have me mistaken for someone else, Your Majesty." I was heading down the highway to my private property, I smiled seeing Jonx play with his necklace, he was silent and nervous, he was looking out the window probably marking how far I was taking him to plan his escape. I pulled up to the lake house and said, "Let's eat and have a chat," I opened his passenger door and he sat there biting his bottom lip deep in thought, I said, "Don't make me ask you again," and he smiled getting out. He followed me inside and looked around before I went into the kitchen and started to make two sandwiches, I said, "Simon is my nephew, and although he is angry with us right now, it doesn't mean we don't keep a close eye on him and you, since you are mated to him now," I pointed at the mark on his neck. "So tell me, Jonx, how long are you planning to keep up the charade because Samuel wants his prisoner back? It's bad for business since you found a loophole and all of you got out." He looked at me and said, "I don't know what you are talking about, I know nothing of this Joniza that you speak of, I love my husband and I am loyal to him, so if you brought me here to test my loyalty to the man I love then go ahead. Loyalty means everything to me when I give someone I trust my heart, body, and soul, I expect the same in return. However, I learned a long time ago that love means nothing to people who don't respect it, so thank you for the sandwich and take me back so I could talk to my husband when he calls to check in on me." I was impressed that he kept his face so straight while breaking the glass as I called him Joniza, he made what he said believable if only he believed the garbage coming out of his mouth, I would too, he didn't even realize that he slipped up when he said Joniza instead of Jonx. However, I need to get Simon to reject him before we send him back, if not he will take Simon with him so I let him go this time but next time, my sword awaits him again. ****** Ty I was listening to the conversation with Joniza and Elijah, I had a spell placed on him while he was there, a magical tracker so if he contacts the others, we can track them down too. Elijah gave Joniza the keys so he could leave and he pulled out the driveway like a crazy person, I handed Elijah a scotch and asked, "How did it feel to see a past lover that you care so much about back from the dead in the flesh?" He handed me the glass Joniza drank from that had blood on it since he cut his hand when Elijah called him Joniza before he put it down. He said, "I loved him once and it cost me, I was hurt and then I met my mates so I no longer love him, he is and will always be a traitor, a murderer, and a treasonous bastard." I smiled as I saw the torture in the underworld, the escape, the nightmares he has sometimes, and the plans he had for Elijah. Elijah was pissed but not worried, we just needed him to lead us back to the rest soon rather than later. One thing we did realize in the blood is that he does love Simon which will strengthen their bond, I prepared him by telling him, "Once we kill Joniza again, you will lose Simon forever, so you need to prepare for that because the kid hates you all now." Elijah looked at me and smiled but knew what I was saying was true, Simon loves him and Joniza is slowly falling for him. We teleported back to Fogger Forest and filled Aidan in on the situation. He looked at Elijah and said, "You were right about Jakey being Joniza," and Elijah said, "I know that walk anywhere, he may have the people around him fooled but his mannerisms had not changed," Aidan dismissed us so he could go and be with his mates. I turned to head to my house not far from Aidan's mansion to see my lovely mates watching soap operas, go figure. ***** Jonx/Jakey I got in Elijah's car and headed to my house in a flash, I didn't know how he found out it was me but I got him off my trail for now, I just need to keep up the charade and be perfect for Simon. I hated and loved being in the room with my former lover, I still held a candle for him but it was slowly dying out as I fell deeper in love with my husband. A man who respects me and sees my worth to him, I left the keys in the car because he would probably send someone for it and I ran into the house. I closed my eyes and started to cry, all I ever wanted was love and now I got it, I won't go back, and I will never go back even if I have to move from here again. Simon hates it here so we could go somewhere else to live, away from all his family who never wanted him in the first place, I put away the clothes I bought and took a shower. I curl up in bed haunted by my past, will this torture ever end? I should've never gone to court and been with Elijah. It's been two weeks since my encounter with Elijah and Simon will be home today, I was excited and prepared a meal for him, I was hopeful. I got the brochures about a few mansions in Elivra, we could choose a house and move there, I heard it was beautiful and full of history. They don't mind about vampires and hybrids living there and I was ready to leave Vampora for good and never return, maybe adopt and start a family or get a surrogate. Then I remembered that I was his chosen mate and he would have another mate since royal blood runs through his veins but until then, it was just me and him. I could wait a few more years when they least expect it before I start getting my revenge. However, keeping Simon away from them was the best revenge, they were big on family and to have one of their's out there hating them will be driving them wild and so with that, I await my husband's return. The doorbell rang and it was strange, Simon had a key so I opened the door and I froze when I saw Logar smiling and saying, "Hello, old friend."
