He was born to Lorena Castellano Molinero and Tiberio Molinero. After years and years of trying to have a child. It was a happy moment that after trying for so long, they had been given a boy. His father named him Alfredo, no second name because his first name made a statement. He was so proud. He was so happy, they were both happy. Lorena had gone through so many medical procedures just to be able to carry a child. Tiberio has spent so much money. Lorena often felt unworthy of being a wife in the Molinero clan. She didn't feel woman enough. When she couldn't even give her husband a child. Her marriage had been an unhappy one. After leaving her family in Columbia to settle with Tiberio.. it wasn't easy. More so when she couldn't bare him a heir. They would have easily divorced but that would disobeying the will that her greatfather had left.
Finally giving birth at the age of thirty-one and Tiberio at the age of forty. Tiberio had not made any other woman pregnant which was very rare as he was a walking reck. He slept with anything that had a hole in between. She assumed maybe he only wanted her to carry his heir even though there was no love in between. She was always lonely in her huge extravagant home. Something happened... it was the reason why this gift called Alfredo had been born. She was angry, desperate and in need, tired of Tiberio's cheating. She carelessly slept with one of her guards.. Felipe. She was atleast ten years his senior. He was always quiet and reserved, he respected her. She found comfort with him but felt utterly ashamed because he was only a twenty-one year old boy. He had showed her that he wasn't so much as a boy, that forbidden night.
They promised they would never speak if it. She gave her husband the attention that he deserved out of guilt. A few months along, she was pregnant. It dawned onto her that for so many years of pain and agony. This man, Tiberio was the reason why she couldn't bare children. He insulted her daily, he made her feel unworthy of his love, he treated her horribly when it was all his fault. No wonder he had not made his mistresses pregnant either. Did he know? She hoped not because he would be aware of her betrayal.
She told him she was pregnant.
He suddenly started treating her well and showing her love and affection. All that she had yearned for many years now. Felipe watched from afar, when his son was born. He had the same grey eyes, like his but what are the odds. Tiberio had grey eyes as well with specs of blue.
He loved Lorena.
She loved him too.
They continued their affair even after little Alfredo was born. Felipe suggested they run away but they knew Tiberio was very dangerous. He would kill Alfredo if he knew it wasn't his child. Felipe watched his son grow.. with Tiberio. Thank goodness Tiberio was a good father atleast he tried to be.
He proudly went for Alfredo's soccer games. He proudly celebrated any of Alfredo's achievements. Alfredo was close to Felipe being his body guard, day in and day out at an elite boarding school in Argentina. He was known as the son of one of the richest men in Mexico not as the Mafia heir. They of course kept all that under wraps.
Felipe sacrificed his life for the woman that he loved and could never have and the son that would never acknowledge him. He grew proud seeing how Alfredo had grown up to be a respectable, intelligent and humble young man.
He dreaded the night of his son's eighteenth birthday. All he could do was watch from afar at the senseless, Molinero virgin tradition.
When Lorena died a year after from cancer. It broke him but she asked him to look after their son and to never ever let Tiberio know because he will kill Alfredo. Felipe listened. Tiberio trusted Felipe with Alfredo and continued making him the official guard for Alfredo.
Thank goodness Alfredo looked like his beautiful mother, besides his eyes. He wouldn't have wanted people around to start questioning the odds.
When Tiberio passed away when Alfredo was twenty-two. Felipe was there for him. Alfredo treasured the relationship he had with Felipe. At times he felt he was the only family he had left with.
Without a doubt that was the truth.
If only he knew.
