No matter what happens, even if her beloved Duncan shifts into a different form, she will still recognize him. Just like the one who saved her from the scariest creatures to be seen. She recognized it by his voice.
"You shouldn't have done that, Duncan. Because you seem to have proven them right. You are the son of the dean at our university so you should have been the one to adjust," Scarlett said as she let go a deep sigh.
"No. I won't do that, Scarlett. I'll never let anyone will curse you because of nonsense. You also, I guess it's time for you to accept the fact that I cannot be---"
"Are you going to say again that you're not normal people? Will you insist that we cannot be together because we're not compatible? Cut the crap, Duncan! I almost believe you about that! If you are not happy with me in our relationship, just go away and never appear in my sight anymore!"
She's furious! But not for those who are bullying her! The fact is she's confused as well! Her parents who raised her since birth were saying that she never go out that night. But her boyfriend is insisting that both of them are away from the crowd.
"Look at yourself now, Scarlett. Your reactions now and in the university proves that you and I are not a completely human being. Do you know that your eyes are burning as hell? If I didn't stop you inside our room in the school, you maybe burn the whole place. You're already the crystal balls in fire and ready to throw---"
BUT Duncan was unable to finish his speech. Because his girlfriend has completely become a fire person.
"There you are, Scarlett! You are a firewoman! You've transformed into a woman that can create a ball of fire. Then you're a dragon!" he exclaimed.
Because of this, the girl was about to throw stones at her lover. But it calmed down immediately. She cooled down until everything gradually returned to normal. But deep inside of her is still trembling with anger. It's impossible that she's that kind of person.
"I'm sorry, Scarlett. Because of me, you were forced to reveal the real you. But don't worry because I won't let you go. It's better---"
Again, the young man did not finish what he was saying because she cut him off.
"You are wrong, Duncan. We should go our separate ways. Do whatever you want and I'll do the same. I'm not a firewoman or a dragon as you say so. I'm just an ordinary person who wants a life without worries," she said emotionlessly.
But she knows that she's just lying. Because she began to doubt her real identity. Her parents say that she's a normal human being. But since they are her parents, she will believe in them.
'If I'll connect everything that I've seen since my birthday, I'm not just an ordinary firewoman. Not even just a dragon. If my intuitions are correct, I am a she-wolf. But it cannot be. I'd rather be a spoiled brat and live according to my will than be one of them.'
"Scarlett, where are you going? It's dangerous for you to go away all by yourself!" she heard him scream.
But instead of answering, she walks faster than usual.
LATER that night...
Full moon. It was quiet all around the woods.
"If what I saw in my dream is true, I have to prove it by myself. Add the fire that I can throw especially when I'm full of anger," she whispered in the void.
From walking became jogging to running. She just ran and ran. She has been running for almost thirty minutes but she still doesn't feel tired. So she ran faster so that she can smell the scents of the evening dews. The coldest weather that she ever felt compared to her fully air-conditioned room.
Until she started hearing an invisible voice again. It's a full moon but that pest still cannot be seen.
'Run, baby. Run!'
'Sooner or later we'll make you our food!'
But she just ignored it. Instead, she became faster with every move.
'You will never get away from us this time, baby. I'll make sure that I can kill you!'
'I'll make you vanish permanently in this place!'
The voices are deafening! But he couldn't stop. Because she will be their food. But she will never allow that to happen.
But after a while, she stopped.
"Who are you? Why don't you want to show me? You're all just saying those words but you don't want to show yourselves to me!" Because of her anger, she was able to answer.
But, they just laughed. A very scary voice even if it's a laugh.
"If I'm not mistaken, there are four of them. Because according to their strength, the owners of the voices are all men," she whispered to herself.
'She is alone! That is why we cannot just let her go. Now or never, we need to kill her now!'
'Of course! We need to kill her. Because if it's not, she will be the one to wipe out our clan!'
She can hear them saying those words. That is why even though it was a full moon, she turned and look around.
'If I am a woman who can create fire in my palm, I can burn them to death,' she mumbled.
Because of her anger toward those invisible creatures, she raised her both palms.
"Prove now that you are a woman that capable of making fire! Burn down the whereabouts of each of your pursuers!" she said in a voice that she only could hear.
Every hurling of fire from her palm is equivalent to a howl from the woods. And because she threw crystal balls of fire four times, the surrounding area was filled with howling.
"It's good for you! I guess there's nothing you can do but scare your neighbours!" She grimaced and left that place instead of continuing to run.
The next day, the news spread about the fire in the woods.
Wildfire!
That's what's in the news. Because no one knows where and how the fire started. But for Scarlett, it is no longer surprising because she is the one who did it.
"That's something for people like them who have nothing to do but tease others!" She secretly squealed.
But!
"I think you're ready to accept who you are, son." Her mother's voice.
But before she can answer her, another voice was heard.
"At first we didn't intend to tell you but as time went on, every time the full moon came, our feelings grew stronger that you have the right to know who you are, Scarlett." Her father's voice.
That's why she turned around and faced them properly. But before she can open her mouth to ask what they are bubbling, another surprise has come along.
