We expected the cold, but not the way her body was bundled up. Giselle was 5’3”, a couple inches shorter than me, and the pack had swaddled her corpse in a king size blanket. She looked like she was sleeping, but the frozen lips and ice speckled lashes showed the stillness of her body. I couldn’t believe the resemblance. Giselle looked like a slightly smaller version of me, but with a wider mouth, smaller nose, and a spray of freckles on each cheek. Gently, we worked to pull the blankets off and expose her arms.
