Chapter 19: In the depths

The King’s Study

“It is good to see you Eric.....Jenny is good, it is just...” King Stephan said pouring out three glasses of Whiskey.

“Can’t keep all the Rogues in check? They are missing their Queen...so am I” Eric said with a sigh.

“How is Jamie? I heard she was in Zuy and her two mates visited” King Stephan said with a smirk. He would not wish Jamie’s two mates in a bad mood on anyone...well almost anyone!

“Last I heard from Dion is that she created a Lava Golem when she got pissed at the lead Earth user. Apparently the Earth User made the mistake of bad mouthing her mates. If Dion hadn’t be there, the Golem would have squashed the Earth User to a pulp” Eric said with a smile.

“That’s my girl! I could feel she was pissed, now I know why! ” Richard said walking out of the shadows with a smirk.

“Ah Richard, there is a whiskey already poured out for you!” King Stephan said in a friendly tone.

“Most kind!” Richard say grabbing the glass from the drinks cabinet and sat on the sofa next to Eric.

“Wow, Fire Sprite is getting powerful if she can call a lava Golem! She skipped the whole one element golem stage and went right to the higher end ones” Eric said smiling. 

“That is so Princess!” Richard said

“Isn’t it just?” Eric said

King Stephan rolled his eyes “Enough with the mate stuff! We get it, Jamie is amazing!  But can we get back to business?” King Stephan said.

“Of course, but remember she is our mate!” Richard said with a slight growl.

“Relax, even if I was interested, I think kitten has her hands full with you two!” King Stephan said quickly. He knew demons were very quick to protect their mates and got extremely jealous. It always surprised that it worked with Eric, but then who was he to question the judgment of Father Light and Mother Universe?

“Well as long as we are clear” Richard said relaxing.

 “Very! So can I have update?” king Stephan asked. 

“Certainly, as you know I have been on the coast. I found out that there was going to be an attack on Heaven’s  Gate Harbour” Eric reported

“Makes sense Heaven’s Gate Harbour is a key trading port. We need it to open to make  sure we have enough  supplies  for our troops. Do you know when?” King asked.

“No, sadly not. Raoul is keeping a very tight ship” Eric moaned.

“Well he was a spy master, but at least know where they are going to attack. That is something at least” King Stephan said.

“Are you going to move a couple of regiments there?” Eric asked

“No, that would give the game away. I will however be placing a few war mages to open portals when needed” King Stephan said.

“Smart move” Eric said approvingly 

“What about the mountains?” King Stephan asked

“Nothing worth mentioning to be honest. They are testing us, so when the spring thaw eventually comes they know our weakness. Well that is what Raoul is hoping” Richard said

“Are you worried he is making hybrids with demons?” King Stephan asked

“Pit demons are slow and unintelligent. However, they can still be powerful. We do have a couple of trump cards in our pack though” Richard said

“Oh?” King Stephan asked

“Jamie, obviously and Lux” King Stephan said

“You are wanting Jamie to fight on the front line?” King Stephan said shocked

“No wanting about it! Like it or not her Biological father is the Sun God, who is the God of War. She will be involved, so we might as make sure she is as safe as she can be” Richard Argued.

“Actually her adoptive Father was a war hero as well” King Stephan said

“Really? That would figure!” Richard said 

So Lux, I am guessing there is a reason why you made him stay away from the battle lines?” KIng Stephan asked.

“Lux is a direct descendant of the demon of war. Unlike the God of war, the demon of war feasted on the corpses and souls of soldiers. Lux has his full powers on the battlefield, but we don’t want Raoul to sense him till we are ready. That and he is guarding the reason for my existence” Richard explained

“Our existence. I hope Lux is keeping her out of trouble” Eric said

“It would take a lot more then Lux to do that!” King Stephan muttered, earning him glares from both Richard and Eric.

Mare Serenitatis was guiding Lux, Jamie and King Caspian to the place where Foal Ingenii was playing. There Jamie saw in her mind’s eye saw the Chaos pool, near a massive sea trench. The pool was nothing like Jamie had seen before in her life. It swelled and rolled, quivered and vibrated. The colours also kept changing. One minute it was lime green, the next was it was orange with yellow spots, the next it was completely back. Just looking at it made Jamie feel sick, but somehow it kept her gaze.

Jamie found she could not look away, the chaos pool’s movement was hypnotic. She took a step foward and suddenly the pool’s surface changed. Jamie  suddenly  a harbour with a large golden gate on a hill overlooking it.  The harbour was decorated with prayer flags, used to celebrate midsummer. Suddenly the harbour was filled with thick fog and the building were on fire. The faded from her mind.

“You Ok Princess? I know Chaos can be overwhelming” Lux  said

“Yeah, I just thought I saw something” Jamie said

“Hmm legends do say you can sometimes see the past,  future or present. Chaos mixes up the timeline up” King Caspian said thoughtfully.

“I am sure it was nothing, now how do we close this thing up?” Jamie asked.

“Lava is normally the best way. It makes a hard core and stops creatures been drawn in. You think you can put some lava in there Princess? Lux asked.

“ I can try, but I have only done it once!” Jamie warned

“And called a lava golem! This should be easy!” Lux said encouragingly.

“Ok, I will try!” Jamie said crouching down and putting her hand on the ground. She opened her minds yes and instantly she saw the threads. She concentrated and pushed her power out, trying to find lava threads.

“Come on!” Jamie thought

“Just relax and let your power flow” Vanth said calmly.

Jamie relaxed  and let her power flow. It started to pierce the darkness of the trench. Jamie suddenly felt a huge presence that made her gasp.

“Who wakens me from my sleep?” A deep voice boomed in her mind. It was very old, but Jamie could not identify the creature.

“No one” Jamie mind-linked in reply.

“No one? I don’t call the moon child no one!” the voice boomed again in her mind. It made her head ache

“I didn’t mean to disturb...apologies..” Jamie said.

“No, perhaps not..but our fates will be intwined in the near future. The vision you have seen in the chaos pool is true. Call on me when you need help” The voice boomed.

“And what price will this help be?” Jamie asked. She knew nothing was for free.

The voice chuckled and said “I see your memories are still lost. Moon Child you saved me as a young one. People wanted to destroy me, but you saved me. You said my uniqueness is what made me beautiful and no one had the right to say what should exist.”

“I am sorry I don’t remember” Jamie said sadly

“You will. But remember to call on me. Until then I sleep” The voice boomed.

“What should I call you?” Jamie asked

“I have many names now, but you can call me kraken“ The voice boomed.

“Rest now Kraken” Jamie said softly and she sensed the presence sleep again. Jamie went deeper, leaving the creature. Jamie found lava and called it to her.

“It is very deep!” Jamie said to Lux and King Caspian 

“You can do it!” King Caspian said as Jamie called Earth and Fire to help her. 

Slowly, the lava through the rocks until it burst out of the sea bed. She got a massive ball of lava and then covered the chaos pool. The pool hissed and moved, but Jamie cooled the lava quickly. 

“Well done Jamie” King Caspian said

But Jamie was already falling into darkness, she had used to much energy again!
