Chapter 4: Sea Mares

“Nope, not that spell either!” Dion said frustrated

“I thought you were suppose to be the most powerful Arcade wizard in Riverwell?” Loki said 

“and I thought you were suppose to be a high demon hybrid” Dion said

“There is much worst places to be stuck” Jamie said

“Indeed” Vanth mind- linked.

The three of them were on a beautiful deserted island, complete with palm trees and warm white sand. Jamie could hear the waves crashing against the shore, it was very relaxing even if a soul parasite was consuming her slowly.

“You don’t think they would let a chaos demon and a Arcane mage teleport in do you?” Vanth mind linked sleepily. Even if Vanth’s soul was not been consumed, the parasite still drained her.

“I have never come across this kind of spell before, it stops any arcane or chaos magic” Dion said sitting down by Jamie. “Sorry Kitten”

“It is OK, there is still some time” Jamie said laying down and enjoying the sun. She closed her eyes and fell soundly asleep. By the time she woke up, she found it was nighttime. She had a blanket over her and a fire was burning. Jamie wish she could see, because she imagined the stars were beautiful. She could hear the soft snores of Dion and Lux. They must have exhausted themselves with all the spells they tried.

“She’s here! The Moon Child has finally come!” a young female voice whispered 

“No, she is not the Moon child! Look at here, she can’t even see us!” A young male voice said.

“Hello?” Jamie whispered. She did not want to scare them off by waking Lux or Dion. 

“Shh she is awake!” The female said

“Please don’t go, I won’t hurt you!” Jamie said getting up softly. She headed towards the voices and realised they were coming from the sea.

“You look sick!” The male voice said. 

“Was that splashing?” Jamie thought before saying “I am and I am trying to get to Zuy for help”

“Are you the moon child?” The female voice said

“I have been called that. My name is Jamie, what are yours?” Jamie said with a smile

“I am Rosina and this is Bellus. Is it true you are blind?” Rosina said

“Yes I am” Jamie said sadly

“Like the Weavers!” Bellus said

“Yes, exactly like them!  You don’t know how I could meet them?” Jamie said

“You have to get on the Island first then go to the castle in the forest” Rosina said helpfully.

“Any ideas on how I can get there? I do so want to meet them” Jamie said gently 

“That is easy you call the Sea Mares. That would be easy for you, even when sick! Your water element is so strong!” Bellus said

“ Sea Mares?” Jamie said

“Yes, all you have to do is step in the sea and get your water element to call them. They are waiting already, they sense your presence. That is why we came to have a look as we could feel it to!” Rosina said excitedly.

“By the Goddess you are Merfolk!” Jamie gasped. She heard tales from Rosie, her best friend and water element but they were extremely shy. One hadn’t been seen in over 200 years!

“I thought I smelt fish!” Vanth grumped as she just started to wake up in Jamie’s mind.

“Of course we are silly!” Bellus said.

“Stop being rude Bellus!”  Rosina scolded and Bellus grumped.

“Well it is a honour to meet you!” Jamie said before she starting to feel sick.

“You need to get going” Rosina said worried.

“We need to get going, Mum is going to kill us for talking to a two legger, even if she is the Moon Child” Bellus said. Jamie smiled as she thought that it didn’t matter what species you where, you still worried about your parents!

 Jamie heard to splashed and she rushed toward into the sea saying “wait!” 

As soon as her feet were in the water her mind was filled with many voices and her body was filled with a cool rippling energy.

“Weeeeeeeeee this is fun!” Water element mind-linked excitedly. Jamie felt her water element flying around like it was on caffeine. A lot of caffeine.

“No it is chaosing cold!” Vanth snapped. Jamie knew Vanth was snapping because she was  tired.

“Water!” Jamie mind linked but water was still whizzing around. “WATER!” Jamie shouted in her mind link.

Water stopped but was still quivering with excitement as she said “ Yes, Friend of Nerida?”

“Please call the Sea Mares” Jamie mind-linked 

“Sea Mares?” Water said

“Yes Sea Mares you stupid quivering ball of energy” Vanth snapped 

“Rude! Rude! Rude!” The elements said in Unison.

Jamie sighed, she was getting a headache. She also knew water was her most sensitive element as it was linked to love. “Please water, we can’t do this without you!” Jamie pleaded.

“Alright, you can’t be held responsible for a rude demon’s behaviour!” Water said In a Sanctimonious voice.

Vanth muttered a curse under her breath, but Water ignored it.

“Come Mare Undarum, come Mare Serenitatis and Mare Nubium ! Heed your Elemental Goddess call and assist her friend!” Water element commanded. 

There was nothing but normal sounds of the sea, and Jamie began to wonder if this was all just a dream. Suddenly she heard the sound of horses hoofs running through the water at great speed before stopping in front of her and rearing.

“Woah girl!” Jamie said instinctively as she put out her hand to calm the mare. As soon as she touched it a image of there mares glowing blue formed in her mind. The images moved in time of what she was hearing and the names of the mares suddenly came to her.

“Shh Mare Nubium, it is Ok” Jamie said smoothly, surprised that their bodies were quite solid even though they were made of water. Mare Nubium calmed down and started to nuzzle Jamie looking for a treat. 

“Sorry girl, I have nothing. I not sure that Sea Mares even like sugar or apples!” Jamie said with a chuckle.

“Oh well, can’t be helped. Maybe next time?” Mare Nubium Voice suddenly came into her mind

“You can mind link?” Jamie said astonished

“Oh great, exactly what we need, more noise!” Vanth grumped 

“Of course Moon Child, we are immortal creatures and can communicate once a channel has been opened” Mare Serenitatis explained

“Oh! Well can you please carry my friends and I to Zuy” Jamie asked politely 

“A demon and an a arcane Mage? They are your friends?” Mare Undarum said, shaking her head in disbelief.

“Yes they are dear friends, please help me. I need to get to Zuy, I have a soul parasite” Jamie said

“We know, we can see the horrid thing latched onto your soul! Horrible dark chaos magic!” Mare Serenitatis Declared stumping her hoof.

“ We will help you and your friends, oh friend of Nerida“ Mare Nubium said.

“Oh thank you so much?” Jamie said excitedly. She turned round and her mind went dark again as she walked back to the campsite. She almost tripped over Lux’s legs.

“Guys! I got us a ride to Zuy, wake up!” She said pulling Lux’s leg 

“Princess, there is no way we get there. I am sorry, but when we recouped our powers will take you home and think of another plan” Lux murmed sleepily.

“Get up! They are waiting!” Jamie shouted and both of the guys woke up with a jump.

“kitten what is wrong?” Dion said reaching for his glasses. He hoped they were not being attacked as he did not have much power in reserve.

“Look Dion!” Jamie shouted and pointed toward the sea. Both of them looked and gasped at the sight of the three sea mares.

“Are those Sea Mares?” Dion asked astonished as he slowly got up.

“Yes, they agreed to take us! So hurry!” Jamie said 

“But...how did you call them?” Lux said 

“I met some Merchildren and they told me where the Weavers were and about the Mares” Jamie said as she tried to pack her stuff up. Dion just flicked his wrist and the whole camp dispersed into his small bag that had a handy space spell in it.

Jamie sighed and walked back to the Mares “Thank you for waiting for us! This is Dion and Lux. Lux and Dion this is Mare Undarum, Mare Serenitatis and Mare Nubium” Jamie said respectfully.

Dion and Lux bowed as a sign of respect and this seemed to please the Mares.

“I will carry the Mage” Undarum declared as she walked over to Dion.

“I am most honoured Mare Undarum” Dion said, still not sure if this was a dream or not.

“And I shall carry the demon. Though any funny business and I shall dump you at the bottom of the Azure sea!” Mare Serenitatis

“That seems fair, but please rest assured Mare Serenitatis we mean you no harm” Lux said with a bow as Mare Serenitatis came over.

“Moon child, you are with me. Come, I sense you do not have much time to waste” Mare Nubium said as she lowered herself allowing Jamie to get on more easily. Jamie felt the cooling energy of the water element flow through her.

The Mares started to move forwards and Jamie could see that every time their hoof touched the sea it sent out ripples of blue energy. Soon they were galloping and Jamie felt the sea spray on her face and she smiled

“I can’t believe we are doing this!” Dion shouted.

“I know great isn’t it? Are you OK Princess?” Lux shouted back.

“I am great!” Jamie said hanging on.

“YIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPPPE!” She heard her elements shout in excitement.

“For once I agree with them” Vanth said as they sped over the sea towards the Island.
