About 2am, after checking Daddy’s mind to make sure he’s asleep, I make my way to the window and slip out onto the porch. I shift and jump down heading to my secret training area. After about 30 minutes of working out, I realize I’m not alone. Turning quickly with blades in hand, I face the intruder.
Julius: It’s ok, Char. It’s just me.
He steps out of the shadows and moves toward me taking my blades and easily hitting the targets bulls-eye while never taking his eyes off me.
Julius: So, is this where you learned to throw like a pro?
Char: I found this place a few years back and set it up. I’m pretty sure Daddy knows where it’s at, but he lets me come and train when I need to relive tension and stress. I’ve been throwing since I was very little. Just tossing knives and daggers at still targets is boring now, so I’m trying to figure out how to set-up a few targets that move at different speeds. I was thinking about buying one of those carnival games that has ducks moving from side to side and tweaking it to go faster. Uncle Edward is right, I can hit a moving target at 100 feet, I’m working on increasing that distance daily, but I don’t like killing bunny rabbits. Daddy and Edward take turns tossing objects in the air for me to hit back at the house. The smallest item I’ve hit so far was the lid of a soup can. That was fun.
Julius: We might have to have you teach some of our warriors on how to aim when throwing on the run. I was watching you for a bit, and am very impressed on how you can hit the target even when you’re in the middle of a barrel roll.
Char: I try to spice things up with my knives. How did you know I was here?
Julius: Justin woke me up and we followed your scent. He was very insistent that he had to see this for himself. Guess Lottie was showing him what you were doing, and now he is a very happy wolf. I’m glad too, you see knife throwing is something we both have trained on and to find a mate who can throw almost as good as us is heaven. Once we get back to Full Moon territory in a few months, I will help continue your training with knives and daggers. Would you be ok with Dad and them taking back your weapon collection with them when they go? We are running a bit low on some items, the silver mine we have is all dried up and your collection is quite extensive.
Char: I’m ok with that. Your pack needs silver?
Julius: Yeah, we had a rogue group come in and attack a few months ago and haven’t been able to forge any new weapons since.
Char (Taking Julius’ hand): Come with me.
I lead Julius back to the main area around the house to the garage, where I keep the Trans Am I’m restoring and my forge. His eyes lit up at the sheer amount of weapons I had there. I told him I hadn’t moved them to the house, because I ran out of places to hide them. Then I show him the section of weapons I've forged but haven't completed. Which just means I didn't add my designs on the blades or polished them up. Despite it being like 3am, he woke his dad up in their mind link and told him to come to the garage. Jason woke his warriors not knowing what was going on and they all came running. Once Jason came in and saw my other collections, and was told that they could take them home when they left in a few days, he gave me a bear hug. I suggested we should probably go back inside and get some sleep, we could talk about it at first meal in the morning. Julius wrapped his arm around my shoulders and kissed my forehead as we walked back to the house, where Daddy was there standing at the doorway, having been woken up by the sound of running outside. I forgot to close the window behind me.
Carlos: CHARLOTTE SOPHIA!! (Full name, not good.) You need to learn how to shut your wolves down and all go to sleep at the same time, young lady. I’m sorry if she woke any of you up, she doesn’t like sleeping.
Jason: Carlos, it’s ok. She didn’t wake us, Julius did. Seems Charlotte has enough weapons forged in the garage for a full army, and she’s agreed to allow my pack to have them. She is very generous, considering how much Silver is worth.
Carlos: She is very good at finding hidden treasures in the wastelands. You would be surprised at what she has dug up over the years. (Turns to me) Char, you want to go digging again, don’t you?
Char: Always, Daddy. I know where I can find a few more, but they are further out and I don’t want my access to my Trans Am taken away again, so I have kept from going for them. Plus, I would need the earth mover again, and you being home, I would get caught. (Blushes) Can we go after first meal? I know where one is buried very deep and it would be too heavy for me to try to get out on my own.
The men look at each other and then at the excitement in my eyes as I talk about uncovering more treasures. How can they deny me? They can’t! It’s agreed that after we eat, I’ll lead the way to the area and Daddy will drive the earth mover. He knows that I know why he is driving and not me. It’s his way of punishing me for sneaking out the window. Oh well, as long as I get to dig when we get there I’m ok with him driving this one time. We all head back to our beds and Daddy moves Charlie over to the second bed in her room, motioning for me to join her, as he takes the bed closest to the now closed window. He kisses my forehead and tells me he loves me, but I’m not escaping again tonight.
When we all get up the next morning, Uncle Edward and Aunt Denise come with first meal, prepared by the chefs in the Palace for us.
Edward: They wanted to do something nice for you all before we head to the “grieving grounds”, Carlos. They packed 2nd meal in coolers for us to take with us.
Carlos: Sorry, Baby girl, can’t take you digging today. We will do it before they leave, k?
Char: Sure, Daddy I understand.
We all sit down and have a long leisurely meal. Afterwards, the men in the house start packing some bags with needed items for their time away.
Char: {Uncle Edward, did you get Daddy’s truck moved to the grounds?}
Edward: {They are hooking it up to another truck to tow there now. I’m sure your Dad will enjoy smashing that old thing to a zillion pieces.}
Char: {I hope so, I have a big surprise for him when he gets back. So don't let him worry about destroying his only means of transportation.}
Edward: {Char, did you buy him another truck?}
Char: {Yep, just like yours. He has been drooling over it for a week now.}
Edward: {He is truly lucky to have a kiddo as sweet as you.}
Char: {Awe shucks, Uncle Edward. Don't make me blush. Did you need a second vehicle now that your Alpha?}
Edward: {Baby girl, you have to save some of your money. Like all that silver you are giving away in weapons to Full Moon. Yes, they will become your new pack when you finish maturing 2.0 and mate with Julius, but you have to save some for yourself and any pups you might have.}
Char (Full on blushing now at the thought of having pups of her own.): {Uncle, I have more then I could spend in 4 lifetimes and you know I'll find more once I get there. I can't help myself. Please let me give you a congratulations gift for becoming Alpha. PLEASE!} {Shoot him my puppy dog face)
Edward: {Lottie, put those eyes back to Charlotte's. That is not fair that you can morph like that and the rest of us can't. Ok, Baby girl, you win. Aunt Denise was saying she would like a smaller car to drive around in. Something like a Chevy Spark or Cruze, they are small and not gas guzzlers like my truck.}
Char: {Think she's like a Chevy Stingray? It's small.}
Edward: {Sweetie, the Stingray goes for over $60,000} (He was looking it up on his phone.) {I'm sure she would be very happy with one of the other cars, honey. Why don't you ask her when you all are cleaning the house out.}
Char: {On it, boss.} (Salutes with 2 fingers on her left hand.)
About 2 hours later, several of the pack men arrive in trucks. Edward gathers the men together and they start packing their "roughing it" gear into one of the trucks. They say good bye to us and head off to the grounds for some serious male "bonding" time. Like men know how to bond, they like to smash and fight each other. Guess it’s a male version of gossiping.
