CHAPTER- 5

"There isn't any questioning the fact that some people enter your life, at the exact point of need, want or desire - it's sometimes a coincendence and most times fate, but whatever it is, I am certain it came to make me smile." ~ Nikki Rowe. RUBY'S P.O.V "Wait! Please wait!" I shouted at the top of my lungs and ran towards the bus stop. But the bus driver didn't hear me, and closed the door. "Shit." Panting breathless, I groaned with disappointment. The bus left when I was just a few steps away from the bus stop. Now I had to wait for another fifteen minutes for the next bus. I would be late for work, which never ever happened before. I felt so tired last night that I overslept. Yesterday's incident, indeed, took a toll on me. And now when I have to go and start checking the preparation, I am late. Before going to the hall I decided to finish my office work so I won't feel pressured tomorrow. But all my plans of having a peaceful and calm tomorrow got ruined. I dug out my phone in my bags to text Marcus that I won't be coming to the office and I am directly going to the hall. I decided to go to the coffee shop as I now have enough time. I haven't met Daphne for two days. I was scrolling through my i********: contacts when I came across Jasper's picture. I still follow him, despite rejecting him for the tenth time. He was a friend of Chase and also his roommate. Jet black hair, cute with dimples, tall and fit. He looked like your typical Netflix college boy. Aside from his good looks, he was also smart, very humble, God-fearing and very compassionate. He was the kindest man I had ever met. All the qualities that I wanted in a guy, he had it all. He was Perfect. Every girl Dream Boy. Loyal, Lovable, Charming and Mr. Right. But not for me. I couldn't take the first step. Despite moving on from my past, I can't properly heal my soul. The scar is still there, caging me in the darkness. When Daphne started dating Chase, meeting him became an everyday routine. And slowly he also became a part of my life but it all had to stop when he proposed to me. I thought of him as a brother, more than a friend, who used to tag along with me when I was left alone between Chase and Daph. And now it's been six month since the last time we saw each other. It was very humiliating on my part and also his. He was tipsy and tried to kiss me when I slapped him screaming that I don't like him. And that was the end of us. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ NIKOLAS PALLIS P.O.V I parked outside the coffee shop. Yesterday's action is still fresh in my mind. I shouldn't have come here but the coffee pulled me in. Last time I didn't get the chance to taste it. It was the most delicious espresso that I've ever tasted. Theodore was dozing on and off from the time I picked him up. We had a meeting today with the shareholder and he was also one of them. I decided we should go together and hence he was here with me. Entering the coffee shop, my eyes directly went towards the bar searching for emerald eyes but to my disappointment she was not there. Instead there was a hazel eyes, honey brown model figure girl glaring down at the waitress who tried to flirt with us the first day we came here. Half up and half asleep, Theo ordered the same coffee that we had previously. But when I tasted my espresso, I was disappointed. It didn't even have the artwork design. "This one didn't taste as good as we had yesterday." I took another sip, and complained. "Serve you right." Theo grumpily replied as a yawn escaped from his mouth. I scowled at him, pushing my cup towards him. "Taste it." "No thanks. You and your bitter espresso are the same. Black and blunt." He groaned, crossing his arms around his chest. "But my coffee tastes good. Just the way I Like it." I frown, raising my brows. "Then why didn't mine taste the same?" He looked straight at the counter and then at me. "Maybe because, somebody else prepared it." I looked at the hazel eyes girl and then at Theo. "Really? Who was that?" "It was a girl with thick-rimmed eyes glasses." "Really?" He nodded, sipping his latte. I called for the waitress who flirted with us. She stood in front of us and looked up as her eyes grew wide from shock. I don't know why she was looking at me with shocked eyes. Is it because of yesterday or is it because I insulted her when she first came here? "How may I help you sir?" "I want another of these and make sure that girl from yesterday with glasses prepares it." "Sorry sir, but she doesn't work here." The waitress replied with a tight lips. "What do you mean?" I cluelessly question her. "She was the best friend of our boss." She pointed her thumbs behind her where the hazel eyes girl was standing. "She usually comes here in the morning and helps us when we need some hands. But she works in some high class company." The waitress replied, shrugging her shoulders. I nodded and dismissed her immediately. "Are you done? Let's go." I stood up ,not waiting for Theo's reply. He was still sipping his coffee. He gave me an irritated look, as he turned his face refusing to stand up. "Fine. I'll wait for you in the car." I replied leaving the coffee shop. Standing beside my red Ferrari, I couldn't think of why the hell I wanted to meet that ill- mannered girl. She was temperamental, stubborn and had a loud mouth. Usually I avoided that type of woman but still I wanted to see her. Knowing very well it won't end up in good ways. It must be the eyes that made my mind go crazy. Her greens were emerald and for a moment it took me back to five years ago but I blocked it knowing it was very bad for myself. I sigh and take out my cell phone reading my emails when suddenly a girl flies out of nowhere and lands directly on me. "Oww!" "Fuck." I cursed out loud as her head hit my nose, shooting a current through my head. My mind worked on their own, as my arms caught her from waist as she was going to fall on the ground. I steady her from the waist with one arm on from the other, I held shoulder making her stand straight. She was light as a feather. She was very delicate." Are you okay?" The woman who looked older than me was still clinging to me. Both of her arms were around my chest. Her face was pressed against my throat. Then she slowly looked up at me. And both of us were so surprised. She was none other than the woman I wanted to meet and at the same time don't want to see ever again. She parted her lips, gasping for air. It gave me an opportunity to stare at the moistness of her sweet curled lips which I tasted last night. And now looking at her face, I can easily say that she was in her early twenty but the way she wore clothes made her look older. Clearing her throat she spoke. "Yes, I'm fine." "Are you sure?" I held from her shoulder as she now stood up straight. "You look so fragile." Her face instantly changed as she glared down on me. "Yes, actually, I am stronger than you think. Looks can be very deceiving sometimes and we both know better than that." She sarcastically piped. I frowned at her. "I don't agree with you. First of all you are so thin, I could easily break your bones. And second, do not taunt me." She inhaled sharply but nevertheless smiled. Her smile reminds me of Ursula. "There's nothing to taunt you. I would dive into cold water rather than stand here and bicker with a five year old stubborn kid, you badly need grounding for his rude behaviour.." With that she spun around and went inside the coffee shop leaving me shocked with a wide open mouth. Five year old stubborn kid? Kid? But I wanted to have the last word so I shouted loud enough so she could hear me. "Okay granny, I'll keep that in my mind." She turned around and glared at me, her lips thinned with irritation. We stared at each other when Theo came out from the shop, breaking our gaze. I kept staring at her back as she walked inside disappearing from my sight. "That was the woman who made the coffee." Theodore said, the moment we were in the car. "I figured that out." I said, starting the car with a silly smile on my lips. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "HELLO LOVELY PEOPLE DON'T FORGET TO VOTE AND COMMENT ."
