The next morning was beyond strange. Isabelle woke to a house that was incredibly silent. It was strange because her house was never quiet. She lived with three hormonal boys for god's sake silence was practically impossible.
In one of the wings inside their house, all of the siblings rooms could be found. Isabelle's room was in between Max's and Timothy's while Damien's was just right in front of her. It was a given that the boys would still be asleep at this time. Regardless, if they had college later but even when they were asleep there would always be noise, snores, loud music or anything really it was odd.
Isabelle couldn't sleep properly last night knowing Gavin was sleeping just below her room. Her body was all giddy and girly it was frightening. Shaking her head, Isabelle wobbled her way towards her bathroom, a yawn escaping her lips.
Taking a quick warm bath, she patted herself dry and stomped back into her room. Isabelle didn't have to look at the clock to know it was seven in the morning. She sighed, she had to leave for school at seven thirty or else she was going to be late- again.
Putting on a soft body hugging sundress and a pair of simple flats, Isabelle sprinted down the house not bothering to brush her untamed wavy hair. She took a quick turn towards a corner only to slam into a warm wall. She readied herself for the contact with the floor but it never came.
Isabelle opened her eyes to meet a familiar yellow. "Gavin." She gasped out of breathe. He was holding her steady, a concerned look on his face. The hands he had on her did not go unnoticed. They stared at each other like that until she felt her body clock shift to seven thirty five. "Oh, crap. I'm late." She muttered pulling away from him. Feeling cold all of a sudden, Isabelle made her way down again.
Nathan was sitting down at their leather couch in the living room, a frown on his face. "You're late." He grumbled standing up and walking towards her.
"Sorry." Isabelle apologized running to the kitchen to grab a bagel. "Have you eaten breakfast?" She asked walking to the fridge to grab a bottle of water.
"Unlike you, I didn't want to be late so I skipped breakfast."
Isabelle was silently thankful that he hasn't mentioned her mate to her. She grinned at him. "Grouch." Isabelle laughed throwing a bagel at him. "Catch."
Nathan caught it easily, smile playing around his lips. "Shall we then?" He said offering his arm.
Isabelle was about to take it when she was lightly pulled back. A loud powerful growl shook the house. Isabelle jumped at the sound. She didn't have to look up to find Gavin there looking like he could kill. She was suddenly scared for Nathan who was standing there still trying to register what was happening.
"Gavin." Isabelle turned to face her mate. "It's okay he's a friend." She tried to soothe. Isabelle suddenly could picture how their relationship was going to be, a growling, snarling Gavin and her trying to calm him.
"I don't like the way he looks at you." Gavin says through bared teeth.
Isabelle sighed helplessly. She was really going to be late now. "This is Nathan. He looks at everyone like that." Gavin towered over Nathan like he was nothing. Given different circumstances, she would probably have laugh at this.
Nathan snapped out of his phase and shrugged trying to hide the fear he was feeling. "We're going to be late." Was all he said as he looked out the window.
"You. Are. Mine." Gavin stated emphasising each word with a pause. Isabelle felt a tingle in her heart as her wolf started howling in happiness.
Isabelle's mind was mush and her heart was fluttering. She has never been so giddy even when she and Nathan were together. "I have to go to school." She said instead making her wolf growl in anger.
'Our mate just told you, you were his and you come and say something about school, again? I'm embarrassed for you.' Her wolf seethed angrily.
"I'll take you." Gavin said trying to control his voice. Nathan was about to comment when Gavin shot him a deathly look effectively shutting him up.
"It's a bit far. We'll need a car." Why she was even trying to get out of it she did not know. Truth be told, her body was ready to jump him any minute now. Isabelle didn't know what exactly was happening.
Gavin's eyes widened. He sent her a sharp cold look that made her throat dry. "Why do you keep on reasoning out?" He snapped in anger. "Do you despise me that much?"
Isabelle froze suddenly horrified that he thought she despised of him. "What? No! I just-" She paused looking into his dark amber eyes. "I don't trust myself with you." She finished not completely understanding what she just said.
Gavin looked confused, the anger completely vanishing from his face.
"She's afraid of jumping you is what it is." Isabelle looked away blushing. Her eyes glared towards the person that said it. It was obviously, Max.
"Max, you fool." She meant for her voice to be threatening but it came out as a squeak. Gavin's face suddenly contorted strangely like he couldn't believe what was just said and if she looked closer she could see a slight shade of embarrassment on his cheeks though it vanished just as soon as it came, a stony expression masking it. Max only smirked at her.
"Nath, go on without Izzy. She's going to catch a ride with Gavin over here." Max shooed off Nath with a wave of his hand. Nathan looked like he was going to say something but thought better of it and left without another word. Max's attention came back to the new mates, a smile on his lips. "Nice, Rover. Is she yours?" Max said jerking his thumb to the garage.
Isabelle was about to tell him that she didn't have a new car when Gavin nodded. "Sent for her last night." He replied looking calmer now.
Max smirked liking the taste of cars that Gavin had. "You better leave now, Iz. You're gonna be late."
"I'm already late." She snipped refraining from stomping her feet childishly as she came to the garage where a black massive car was parked. There were only supposed to be five cars there all black BMW's and Mercedes Benz. "This is your car?" She breathed out. Everything about Gavin seemed to be massive.
He didn't reply only opening the door of the passenger seat for her. Isabelle climbed in and she's engulfed in Gavin's scent, it smelled so much of him and an unwanted smile tugged at the ends of her lips.
The drive to her school was mostly quiet until Gavin looked up an almost sad expression on his face. "I'm sorry for making you late." His voice was so low and quiet that she had to strain her ears to hear it.
Isabelle was being childish, she knew and if she had to be honest with herself it was killing her to be cold to him. Every part of her body wanted him. "It wasn't your fault. I woke up late." She said giving him a small smile. Gavin's expression softens at her disarming smile and turns to the road.
There was silence again. Isabelle could already see her school when his husky voice cut through the silence. "Who was he?"
Isabelle looked back at him. "You mean Nath?" Gavin nodded looking distant, his grip on the wheel tightening. "Nathan's one of my best friends. He's the son of the Beta." Isabelle waited for him to apologize for growling at Nath but it never came. She suspected it will never happen. He drove the rover around the main doors just as the warning bell rang. "Thank you for driving me." She said touching his arm to show that she did quite enjoy the ride despite the silence. "I'll see you later?" Isabelle asked hopefully.
Gavin merely nodded at her. He was looking at her with his electrifying eyes. She wouldn't admit it to anyone but she enjoyed the car ride more than she hoped she would. Just being in the same place with him was enough for her. Isabelle walked away towards the front doors. A few of the students who were pack members bowed their heads in respect for her. Yet, it was obvious they were scared when she caught the look they shared amongst themselves. On the other hand, the human students all smiled at her giving her a way to move around. She suspected they did this because of her Alpha presence. Werewolf or not they would be able to sense it.
It was only when she was securely inside the building did she hear the Rover drive off. With a smile on her lips, Isabelle thought of Gavin waiting for her to be safely inside the school before he left. How the so called heartless man is this caring she will never know.

Lunch came slower than everyone wanted it to as the students rushed towards the cafeteria.
"Isabelle!" Someone shouted from behind her.
Isabelle turned smiling towards her tall friend. "Sof." She let out a laugh when she saw Sofia push and shove the people around her.
"Rumour has it my best friend was taken to school by a very handsome god-like man." Sofia cooed fluttering her eyelashes. "Was it my Damien?" She smiled expectantly.
"Afraid not, Sof." Isabelle replied starting their walk to the cafeteria again. Now, Sofia was gorgeous with her long straight black hair, piercing blue eyes and long legs being the talk of the school. "Gavin took me."
"Is he a new guard or something?" Sofia asked looking curious. Sofia like Nathan was still mateless and was taking advantage of it.
Isabelle then realized that Sofia was purposely pushing her to tell her about what happened last night. "Alright. Alright. Stop. I know what you're trying to do."
"Can you blame me?" Sofia pouted childishly. "I'm your best friend and yet you still haven't said a word about your mate."
Isabelle only laughed at her best friend, giving her a hip bump. "It's just like everything we've dreamed of, Sof." She said dreamily remembering Gavin's protective nature and his low voice.
"But?" Sofia pushed impatiently. Too Sofia, a mate was a mate. Be he a murderer or a peacemaker.
Isabelle pouted. "Have you seen how people have been looking at me lately? They feel bad that I have Gavin as a mate."
Sofia stopped walking then pulling Isabelle back by her arm. "Look, Isabelle. I know I'm not the person that usually says this but Izzy, he's your mate." The look Sofia was giving her was something a mother would give to her misbehaving child. "He's the only one. Stop fighting it. Screw everyone who thinks otherwise." These were the moments when Sofia was scary, scary in a sense that she was right. "So, tell me. Why hasn't he claimed you yet?" She asked peering at Isabelle's neck. Isabelle gasped covering herself and started to walk again.
"I don't know really. We haven't talked about that. All I've been doing is trying to calm him down." Isabelle answered looking down at the books on her arm.
"Heard he almost ripped Nathan's head off." Sofia laughed giving Isabelle a wink. "I like the guy already."
Isabelle breathed out in relief. She didn't know how to react if Sofia didn't like him. Born and raised together, Isabelle always thought of Sofia as her second half. She was the cheerleader, the shopaholic, the manipulator while Isabelle was the sporty yet clumsy, messy haired girl.
"You know. I was there last night when he was about to fight Damien. He was looking at you like you were his life." Sofia stated thinking back to the night. "I would give anything to find my mate."
Isabelle decided to change the subject when she heard the name of her brother. "Speaking of Damien." She cooed teasingly, a mischievous smile on her lips. Sofia was always the cool one of the two but whenever Damien's name was mentioned, Sofia's cheeks would burn brighter than the sun. "He had a bit of a dress malfunction." Sofia just like expected turned beat red. "Oh, so you did see."
"Izzy! I swear to god." Sofia threatened though it fell on deaf ears because Isabelle was already laughing loudly.
They made it to the cafeteria after a few minutes of more teasing. Both girls stopped when they heard their stomachs grumble. They sighed. Werewolves needed food constantly for they burned more than they ate.
Grabbing everything that looked good, they gracefully balanced their tray back to their usual table. Nathan was already there with a couple of other pack members that they were friends with.
Thankfully like all her other friends, they respectfully didn't comment on Gavin. The topic for today were about human girls that were throwing themselves at the werewolf boys and how angry the she-wolves were about it. Sadly, Nathan wasn't looking at her or even acknowledging her in any way.
"Hey, who's the owner of that brand new limited edition rover?" A random human boy asked looking out the window. Isabelle's heart leaped at the thought of Gavin but she shook her head knowing that he left hours ago.
"Oh, gosh. He's cute." One of the humans cried out. It was almost laughable that her group was only talking about that specific girl a few minutes ago.
Isabelle clenched her jaw angrily biting down her burger. The table of werewolves were suddenly staring at her. "What?" She snapped irritatedly. No doubt her Alpha voice was coming through her bared teeth.
"Oh my goodness. Look at those muscles! Is he an older brother of someone?" Another girl squeaked looking out the window.
Isabelle was about to shoot glares at the girl when Sofia stood up from her chair with all her beauty and confidence. "That's my cousin, whore." Sofia had a different personality when they were at school. Her sweetness goes out the window when her father wasn't around. Gruesome and merciless, Sofia had the sharpest tongue.
The group that have been looking out the window froze and looked away staring down at their food again. Isabelle mouthed a small 'thank you' to Sofia before looking out the window. Just like the others said, Gavin was there standing stiffly beside his massive car that was parked right outside the school.
Isabelle couldn't help but blush at the fact that he actually stayed at the campus. Hundreds of questions suddenly surged into Isabelle's mind. Was he hungry? Was he tired from all the standing? What was he even doing here?
Isabelle was yanked out of her worry banter when Sofia pulled on her arm reminding her that lunch was over and they had their next class. "C'mon, Iz. You don't wanna be late for Math." Sofia scowled just thinking about that subject. Isabelle and Sofia were sure Math was made for the ruin of students.
Shuddering, Isabelle nodded standing up from her seat and following after her friend. Sofia was engrossed in telling her about a new girl who was joining the cheer team. As expected, the usual scolding started. Sofia wanted Isabelle to join her squad.
"You know I'm not good at dancing." Isabelle grunts as she tried but failed to balance her heavy books in one arm.
Sofia shrugged pointing out what she thought was obvious. "You do not. The only reason why you don't want to join is because you're shy in performing for people."
"Thus leads to my horrific dancing." Isabelle countered. "Besides, I like the swim team."
Sofia laughed at this. "The only thing I like about the swim team are the boys." She waved her own comment off when they arrived at their designated classroom.
"I wish we didn't have to do math." Isabelle complained with a pout.
"The feeling is mutual. I've been failing every single test that's being thrown at us." Sofia mumbled as she patted down her already perfect hair. "It's getting harder to hide my failing grades from my dad."
Math class moved along in horrifically slow pace with the bald teacher discussing topics that sounded as though he was using another language. Sofia at one point, fell asleep on top of her book, a soft snore coming out from her open mouth. Isabelle, on the other hand, found herself staring out the window to the parking lot where Gavin stood. He didn't move much though it seemed like he was staring right at her. His arms were crossed over his chest making the muscles look bigger than they were. To top his intimidatingly handsome look, Gavin had on his usual emotionless expression on his face.
The bell that sounded the end of the period woke both Sofia and Isabelle from whatever they were doing. Immediately, they stood from their chairs and rushed out of the room so fast that the teacher didn't even see them.
In the girl's locker room, Isabelle and Sofia started suiting up for their run around the track. They both didn't have varsity training today but had to go train at the pack gym with other pack members. Every Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Weekends, all pack members are required to train to keep themselves fit and ready for battle. Not that most of them needed it.
Isabelle had just put on her sports bra and was about to tug on a shirt when Sofia stopped her. "It's absolutely hot out there. Best not to wear a shirt."
Without another word, the girls all went out of the lockers and started to do laps. It was in her third or fourth lap when she saw Gavin standing by the bleachers looking furious. Isabelle could feel his darkened eyes watching her angrily.
"What's was his deal?" Sofia whispered when they were at the shower room. "He kept glaring and scowling." Isabelle didn't comment trying to figure it out herself. Deciding to wear only a tank top and some cut offs on the way home, she went out of the locker room with a laughing Sofia. Sofia's laughs were cut short when Gavin was standing right in front of them at the front of the parking lot. He was looking coldly at Isabelle that she had to fight back a whimper from coming out. "I guess I'll see you back at the pack house." Sofia stammered stepping out away from the two and turning the other way.
Isabelle nodded at her best friend giving a half hearted wave. "What's wrong?" She asked turning to Gavin genuinely concerned for her mate.
Gavin looked as though he was about to blow up with anger. He opened his mouth to speak only to close it after a while. "Nothing." He said angrily you could almost hear the venom in his voice. She winced at that but didn't comment. The ride back was just as awkward as their first meeting only this time terrifying growls and snarls were cutting through the silence. Isabelle was honestly feeling bad for the stirring wheel that was being tightly held to the point of breaking. When she thought he was done with his row, Gavin snapped his head towards her an angry scowl still in place. "Dammit, Isabelle, next time wear a damn shirt."
