Izo put a hand on his forehead. “We have only our memories of our past lives to guide us. Each Defiant has memories of their past lives in other universes before Aeno kidnapped and enslaved us.”
“It’s true,” said Myra. “We have reason to believe, based on what others have told us, that Aeno has done that to each and every person here. Only a handful of his creations actually exist inside the Nexus. The rest of us are outworlders who don’t belong here at all.”
