“Sounds like a plan then.” Scott stood, effectively bringing the meeting to a close. Scott offered his hand to Troy, who shook it. Katerina’s hand was cold and limp. Troy had to consciously not wipe his hand on his jeans afterwards. He tried using his fledgling powers to read her mind but either she was blocking him or he didn’t yet know what he was doing. “I don’t think you fully realize the huge honor and responsibility you’ve been gifted,” Katerina said, bland expression back in place. “Probably not.” Troy shrugged. “I’m just a twenty-one-year-old guy.
