I remained silent, immobile, as I waited for someone to say anything. My eyes automatically settled on Ryder and I felt my heart sink at the anger that was clearly visible in his eyes. His heaving chest and clenched fists didn't make me feel any better, either. Xander on the other hand, looked just as awkward as I felt. He was texting on his phone, but by the way he kept looking up at all of us, I felt it safe to assume that it was just a distraction. “Your Majesties… To what do we owe the pleasure of your presence?” Ryder voice sounded forced, even to my own ears. I felt myself tense as his arm wrapped around my waist and pulled my body against his. Instead of providing comfort like it was meant to, it felt like a dead weight.
