Not Strong Enough

"Come back," Jerome ordered the moment he realized that his second captain was about to be defeated, a situation too embarrassing for him to bear. It meant that just one of Jax's captains could handle two of his special captain he took pride in. "Ohhh! Stop, Connor," Jax said with feigned surprise. "I thought you had confidence in your capable captains, why do they look like they're running away with their tails between their legs?" Jax asked Jerome, a sly smile on his face, relishing the opportunity to disparage his brother. "(Snorts) You can keep feeling proud of yourself for now, but know that you are nothing great. So what if you have a slightly stronger captain than me? I have about ten of them," Jerome retorted. "So what if your captain defeats two of mine?, I'll just send five over to him next time, And if five isn't enough, I'll send all my ten captains" " And if that's still not enough, I'll send all my soldiers," Jerome snorted in anger. "Wow, it seems you don't even value their lives at all," Jax questioned, his ulterior motive being to sow seeds of distrust among Jerome's warriors. "Don't play mind games with me, Jax. You're too young to start that with me." " All I'm trying to say is that you're still too weak to be showing off in front of me, I can still destroy your puny army with the huge numerical advantage I have," Jerome replied almost instantly after Jax's remark. "Ohhh, then I'll keep that in mind," Jax responded. "Here's another piece of advice before you go, Your captain is strong, one of the strongest I've seen actually." " You're extremely lucky to have such a loyal warrior by your side,But don't think you're strong just because you have one powerful man." " I heard that Father's first child our eldest sister, is already a Queen of a Tier 3 kingdom and will soon to break through to the Tier 3 warrior realm" Jerome warned. "So, if you really want to stand out in Dad's court of Kings under him, you should make sure you become a Tier 2 king faster, Tier 1 Kings are not anything special," Jerome said from atop his horse. "Should I take that as you caring for me?" Jax asked in a confused tone, unable to relate to why his brother would be offering advice and providing free information. " Soon, you'll have your own crown and staff of command," Jerome said as he rode away with his soldiers, not even waiting for Jax as ask another question. Jax's lips arched into a small smile. Although his brother may be shameless and greedy, the last act of caring he showed couldn't be faked or covered. Jax realized this when he noticed how quickly Jerome had arrived to take care of the wolves. But even with this unexpected act of concern, they were still rivals. After all, Jerome was the one responsible for stealing his first set of soldiers that their father had sent to help him survive. "Don't worry, I'll take care of things here," Alicia said, breaking Jax out of his deep thoughts. "Okay, thanks to you my beautiful wife," Jax quickly seized the opportunity to steal a kiss on her forehead and escaping before she could catch up and punish him for the stolen kiss. He made hand signs to Connor, who sighed in relief, and they swiftly made his way out with Jax leaving Alicia fuming, she was as domineering as ever, and the soldiers under her nearly burst into tears at the sight of their commander running away. "Where is the Boss's valorous spirit? Where is his strength?, I can't believe he ran because of a lady!" the soldiers whispered to themselves, expressing their disappointment as they watched their beloved king and commander flee, leaving them with their new unofficial boss. They whimpered in defeat, each soldier lost in their own thoughts. Jax quickly made his way back into the barracks, passing through the crowds of villagers who came to congratulate him on their victory against the demonic beast. However, the smile of contentment he once had had faded away like a wisp of smoke the moment he heard the number of warriors his brother possessed. He realized that there was no way his two hundred soldiers could defeat the two thousand heavily armed and well-equipped warriors in Jerome's army if they were to be attacked by a force of that size. The realization dawned on him that his soldiers would tire out long before the battle even reached its end. He understood that he needed to stop being satisfied with the little power he had, just as Jerome had pointed out. The fact that he could still be defeated by any Tier 1 kingdom was a valid point, and he needed to make amends and start utilizing his gaming ability in this world, and start using his system like any gaming system Jax decided to stop thinking of this new world as reality and embrace the mindset of a gamer. He sent new orders to the builders, instructing them to upgrade the camps to level 3, which would provide more space for the soldiers he intended to recruit next. [Status Tab] Name: Jax Freeman King Level: Tier 1 King Land Level: Town Coins: 11,200 Spirit Coins: 8,600 The builders collected a thousand coins each for the camp upgrades to the next level, but Alec didn't flinch. He knew that coins could be easily recovered if they could find a horde of Tier 1 beasts to kill. Jax glanced at the girl on the barracks counter and said, "I want to upgrade the barracks to level two. How can I do that?" "Well, you would have to purchase a set of spirit scientists first, since it's your first time, I can give you a 90% discount. How does that sound, hun?" she replied with an innocent smile on her face. "It sounds great, So, how much do I need to pay?" Jax inquired. "A thousand spirit coins," she answered, maintaining her sweet smile. "Hmm?" Jax suddenly realized that if he didn't receive any kind of discount, he wouldn't even be able to afford the upgrade. He quickly handed over the thousand spirit coins to the lady at the counter, eliciting a pleased smile from her as she entered the barracks. Jax and Connor waited patiently for her to return, and within minutes she emerged with ten men trailing behind her. The men, dressed in white lab coats, gave a slight bow and greeted Jax, "We greet our great king." "Oh, please, stop all that. We have a lot to do. Let's get straight to the point. How many spirit coins will it take to upgrade this barracks to level 2 and how long will it take?" Jax asked, his impatience clear in his voice. "Well, that would cost you a total of 2,000 spirit coins," the leading scientist replied. Jax, taken aback by the amount, took a deep breath and stared at the man in front of him a man with a large head and glasses that made him look innocent. Jax could only hoped that he would give more reasonable prices, than the rogue dwarf leading his builder team at the moment. "Hey, can I negotiate that amount? It's quite costly!" Jax expressed his embarrassment, expecting a price range between 500 to 1,000 spirit coins. "Okay, then. I can accept 1,500 from you for our first deal, but there is a condition if you are interested in further deals," the leading scientist adjusted his glasses on his face and stated. "Oh, I'd love to hear what you have in store for me, as long as it helps reduce the price," Jax replied, intrigued.
