CHAPTER 15: SHADOW

"Come." Maple signaled to Czarina to follow her. "They said we will meet up here." They went to the storage area at the back of the campus where they practiced the items they got from the bidding.
"Who is coming with us?" she asked. She is nervous about being caught, but she is a little excited. She wants to get a hold of a rare green pearl from a hundred-year old supreme level beast that can boost spiritual power and break through.
"It will be just me, you, the prince and Yin." Maple looked around to see if there were other people aside from them. "Valk and Serie can't come over because Valk is having an on and off electrical charge on his body. Sirie said his brother experiences that during the full moon."
Czarina looked up and saw the bloody full moon. It looks lonely and angry at the same time. "Is this the right time to escape and check out the Night Market?"
Maple shrugged her shoulders. "I guess so. We will figure that out later."
They waited in front of the storage area. A few moments later, they saw Kev and Yin walking like a ghost to avoid making noises from their footsteps.
"Where are the others?" Kev asked.
"Valk's not in a good shape. He's having an electrical malfunction." Czarina laughed after saying it. "I wonder what it would be like if I had a fire malfunction?"
"Don't even think about it," Kev said. "There was once a fire element manipulator who lost control of her power and burned their entire village. You wouldn't want that to happen. I'll tell you the whole story later. We need to go before the magical fog covers the Night Market again."
They walked around the building and looked at the main entrance gate of the campus. There are stationed guards at the gate and a few are roaming around the campus ground.
"We can't go out this way," Yin said. "We need to find a way."
"Let's go back to the storage." Kev walked first, the three of them followed him.
"What are you planning to do?" Czarina asked. She knows the prince has thought of another sketchy plan when he looks serious.
"There." He pointed at the high wall fence of the campus. "Use your power, Yin, to make us float and get to the other side."
"Oh, wow, my power is so useful, right." Yin grinned. "Who goes first? I can only do one person at a time."
"I 'll go first and wait for you guys over there." Yin raised his hand. "I will be on the look out there. I'll catch you there, too."
"Sure, Your Highness." Yin used his power to make the prince float in the air using his wind element, and let him go over the 3 meter fence. "You are on your own now. I will drop you now." He let go of the prince, who used his power to create an ice slide and slid on it to avoid getting hurt.
"Thank you for being so kind and careful, pal." Prince Kev removed the dirt at the back of his black silk pants. "I'll catch the next one."
Maple was next to fly over, and was immediately released. She fell on Kev's arms, safe and sound.
"T-thank you for catching me," Maple said shyly.
"Anytime, My Lady." Kev gave a cool stare at her, showing he is always there for her. He put her down slowly. Czarina was next to be thrown over the fence, and Kev caught her right on time.
"Can't you be a little careful like what you did to Maple?" she shouted at Yin who was still on the other side.
"You're a girl in trousers, I don't need to be careful." Yin laughed while he was crossing the fence, floating.
"What did you say?!" Czarina was about to smack him but Kev stopped her.
"Let him go this time, he helped us cross the fence easily." He walked first, along with Maple.
"Be thankful to him, or you'll get in trouble again with me." She showed her knuckles to Yin.
"See?" He laughed so hard then he ran past the prince and Maple. Czarina chased him on the street while Kev and Maple were laughing.
"They looked like a couple in a quarrel," the prince said.
"I wouldn't be surprised if they end up together." Maple smiled. "Yin is kind, he cares for Czarina a lot. It is just difficult for him to show it, I think."
"Right." Kev held her hand. "Let's go and find the Night Market."
Czarina ran into the main road, looking for Yin. She lost him. "Where is that moron?" She looked left and right to see if he was hiding in dark alleys beside closed shops. "Yin!" The street is empty and all shops are closed.
"What happened?" Kev asked from behind. "Where's Yin?"
"I don't know. I was after him when he ran towards this road when he got lost." Czarina became worried. "I kept on calling him but he is not answering me."
"He must be somewhere around here." Maple knelt and touched the ground. She closed her eyes and kept silent for a few seconds. She whispered in the air and waited a few more minutes before opening her eyes again. She stood up straight and pointed to the dark alley. "He is right there, on the second road, passing this dark alley."
"Let's go." Kev didn't wait a second. He immediately walked towards the dark alley to follow Yin. Czarina and Maple followed her.
They reached the secondary road, only to see Yin floating in the air, and being choked by a big dark shadow. It's entire body is just a mere shadow. Yin is trying to get free from it and he tries to kick the enemy.
"What was that thing?!" Maple exclaimed.
Czarina did not have any second thoughts. She raised her hands and created two balls of fire. She threw it to the shadow and she hit it. Yin fell on the ground. He started coughing, catching his breath. Czarina and Maple ran to him to help him get up.
Kev took out his sword and made an attack towards the shadow. He sliced it so fast that no ordinary person could see. The shadow fell down and started disappearing into thin air. The prince sighed in relief.
