Chapter 3

Chapter 3 After a few moments of silence that were driving me crazy I spoke up again. “Talk to me, what are you thinking?” I asked my Alpha. He sat up straight in his chair, setting his hands on his thighs before he stood and walked over to me. His towering form always made me feel small, but I stood strong. I wasn’t afraid of him. Not that he would do anything to hurt me anyways. He took a piece of my hair, tucking it behind my ear softly, then let his fingers run the length of my cheek to my jaw before stepping back. “Rayne, you have such big ideals. Such big dreams, but the reality of it is farfetched. You understand that the Wolves have lived in fear of the Reavers our whole lives, correct? How do you expect a fear that is that deep seeded to vanquish easily, if even at all?” He asked. He made good f*****g point... “I don’t. I don't expect it to, and I know we are going to have issues, especially at first... But I have an idea... We could pitch the idea to the pack and gauge their interest. I know some might be ok with it, but others may stray the opposite way. Once we can gauge the interest, maybe we could start small. A few interested parties from both sides could relocate to an area that we designate as merged. The relocated parties would live together and get to know each other on a trial basis. Just to see how it might work out. The blended parties would then, through word of mouth, explain to others how things are going. We could have security detail watching that area day and night to ensure nothing happens between the parties. It could just start small and we can slowly add more land to the merged sections as we go.” I explained. I could see the wheels turning in Alpha Drake's mind. I then cheated a little, knowing how Alpha Drake reacts to any type of affection from me. I placed my hand on his bicep softly. “Think about it… Together, we could run the largest pack in the states, maybe even the world. The Reaver numbers are comparable to our pack numbers. We would have double the warriors, double the guards, double the land. I could still run training, because I'm a Reaver. I could train both Reavers and Wolves. We could train them together to learn how to fight and defend from each other. Not that the Wolves would have a chance against the Reavers, honestly, but it could never hurt to be prepared.” I said. I gauged his interest so I decided to keep pushing it. “No one would dare step to the mighty Alpha Drake. Think about that type of power…” I said softly. I was feeling much more confident now that I had gotten my main point across. Plus, I knew how important power was for Alpha Drake. Being the most feared Alpha in the world, he had a title to uphold, and this would do nothing but help the cause. “The Reaver Priests meet every 2 weeks for a coven meeting to discuss any business within the covens. We can keep that strategy, and add you, and Beta Sean, and whoever else you deemed fit to be there. That could be how we gauge the merge and keep everyone safe. It could be something like a council. The Obsidian Council. No one would make any decisions without checking with the other parties. We would be a team, and all of us would run the blended lands together.” I said. Alpha drake looked into my eyes and I could see interest sparked within his ocean blue orbs. “You have a point. If we merge the lands and let everyone blend together we would be much stronger. Would we still be known as The Obsidian Pack? I know the Wolves will not agree to a name change. That may be a stipulation you could speak to Raziel about? But honestly, if we start small and merge only those who are willing to try it out, then we could do it on a trial basis. I do think that would be the best bet. I will speak to the pack and get some feedback this afternoon. Let me reach back out to you when I have any word from them, and we can go from there.” He said. “Thank you so much. I honestly believe this will bring more good than harm… If we can pull it off.” I said, with a grin. “Rayne, if this works… We will be the most powerful Alpha and Luna in the world.” Alpha Drake said. “It will work.” I replied. Alpha Drake smiled at me, an actual smile, something that he reserved only for me. As strange as that sounded, it worked for us. As much as Alpha Drake longed to be with me, he knew that we would never be mated. Even so, he still wanted me to be his Luna. It honestly made little sense, but the pack accepted it. His mate rejected him and in the end was murdered anyway. He would never find a mate now that she had died, this much we both knew was true. This pack couldn't be without a Luna forever. This strange form of leadership that we shared was different from other packs, but it was what worked for us. We were untraditional, and that much wasn't a secret. I had hoped our merge would be just another crazy untraditional thing that made The Obsidian Pack stand out amongst Wolves and Reavers alike. I shot a smile back at my Alpha, then turned and headed out the door. I needed to speak to Raziel and see how the meeting went with the covens. I couldn’t keep the smile off my face as I walked through the pack house towards the front doors. He hadn’t quite said yes, but he hadn’t said no either. I knew that had it been anyone else asking him he would have sent them away. But because it was me, he considered it. I knew the power play would work too. I know my Alpha. Once I was outside I started jogging to my house. Alpha Drake had insisted that I keep my home, the home I grew up in here in this pack after my mother was killed. I rarely visited, but I knew that Raziel was still in his coven meeting and I had time to kill. I decided to jog to my old home for old times sake, rather than materialize. I reminisced as I jogged, about the days when I used to live within the borders of my pack. Always safe with my Alpha, except the time I almost wasn’t. It was crazy to think that it hadn’t really been that long since I had taken this position. I mean, about a year, as it were… And even then it felt like just yesterday I was just Rayne, a Wolf, pissing off her Alpha at every turn, and falling in love with a very dangerous man. Oh how the times have changed. I arrived at my house, and headed inside. There was a layer of dust covering basically everything inside. I figured while I had the time I may as well clean up some. I grabbed a rag and got it wet, ringing it out in the sink and then started to wipe down the counters, and cabinets. Then I mopped the floor, and then pulled out the vacuum. I vacuumed my couches too, and shook all my rugs and linens off outside. I didn’t bother to wash them because I wasn’t going to be staying here, so what was the point? Once my home was clean enough I started thinking about the merge and just how it would work. My house was actually right on the borderline of Raziels coven. So if anyone wanted to move here, I would allow it. We could start the merge here with 12 houses. This entire neighborhood to the left of my house, as well as the homes to the right of my house, were technically across the coven border. We could section off those 12 houses and start there. It would be the part of both of our lands that would be the least affected if we merged. It could definitely work. I headed outside and took a look around, walking the perimeter of the 12 houses to ensure that it would be a good spot. “It’s perfect, with enough space and enough houses to start small.” I said to Wynter. She agreed. This merge was going to be good for everyone involved. The stigma between Reavers and Wolves, at least here, would be abolished. It might take time to complete, but I was ready to start now. I could feel the venom of Alpha Drakes mind link trickling through my mind as it connected. “Meet me at the packhouse, I have news.” He said, and then closed the link. My heart stopped briefly, I hoped his news was good… I exhaled and then materialized to the pack house. Alpha Drake, Beta Sean, his twins, and a few of the warriors from the pack were all there. “Ah, Rayne. I was just explaining to these guys your plan to merge the covens and our pack lands. I think I have the first few volunteers.” Alpha Drake said, motioning to the others. “I think I have the perfect place to start the merge between our lands. My old house is right on the borderline. We could take the 6 houses to the left and the 6 to the right including mine, if needed. 12 houses total, and we could section it off. I need to speak with Raziel and see if he has anyone who would be willing to be a part of the merge. He should be done with his coven meeting any minute. I'm just waiting for him to reach out to me. In the meantime I'll keep you all in mind, thank you for cooperating.” I said. I was met with nods as everyone went their separate ways. This was already working, we already had people willing to merge, this would definitely work. Excitement flooded into my chest at the thought. It made me wonder if Beta Sean would bring the twins' mother to live with them if everything went as planned. This really could work… No, it had to work.
