As the alarm goes off for 5:30 am, Heather stirs in her sleep to slowly wake up for school. She turns over to turn it off. She looks at it for a moment then covers her face up with her covers and lays there for a few minutes not wanting to get up. She was almost asleep when her mother had knocked on her door yelling at her to get up.
"Heather! Get up, its time for your 1st day of school again." Her mother yells through the door as she knocking.
Heather groans for a second then gets up. She walks over to her bathroom and gets in the shower. After her shower, she got out, put a towel around her and her hair and walked back into her room. She went through her closet to find something to wear.
After she got dressed, done her hair, and make-up she grabbed her book bag, her phone, and keys to her car then went downstairs to where her mom was making her breakfast.
"Here you go." Her mother had said as she placed the plate on the counter.
"Thanks mom." Heather thanked her mom.
As Heather was eating, someone knocked on the door. And them knowing who it was, Sandy had yelled out.
"Come in you guys!" Sandy said.
All you heard was a door opening then close. Then they came into the kitchen. It was Elena and her little brother Jeremy Gilbert. Their next door neighbors.
"Morning Ms. Lasko." Elena had said.
"Morning to you too, Elena. Jeremy."
Jeremy nodded his head and took a piece of bacon from the plate and sat down. As Elena sat next to Heather, Sandy handed her and Jeremy a plate of good as well.
Since Heather has your drivers license, she drives Elena and Jeremy to school with her since they all go to school together and live next to each other.
After they were done eating, Sandy took their plates and put them in the sink and washed them. After she was done, she looked at the clock and saw it was time for school and work.
"Time to go kids." Sandy told them.
Heather got up kissed her mother on the cheek and headed out the door to her blue 2008 Dodge charger.
As Jeremy got in the front seat, leaving Elena in the back. She was happy about it but it was only fair. He got there first. Plus to Elena she actually didn't care, it left her to her thoughts and her journal to write. Once they got to school, Heather parked her car and Elena got out and ran over to her friends.
Jeremy stayed in the car for a moment. Looked at Heather for a second before lighting up a joint. Heather didn't care that he did, she was on her phone anyways. It was Elena that was the one you had to worry about.
As Heather noticed what time it was, she leaned over and grabbed the joint from Jeremy hit it a few times then put it out. He looked at her for a second then the bell rung. They both grabbed their bags and got out of the car and head to their class.
As classes go slow during the first half of the day until it was lunch. Heather was heading towards the café with Jeremy beside her to get some food. As they found a table, they sat down to eat. As they were eating, Elena and a few of her friends came walking over. Bonnie was a very good friend to them, times Heather think of her as a sister.
"So Bonnie was thinking that, we should do a girls weekend at my place, how about it Heather?" Elena asked.
"Yea sure, my mother works the whole weekend so I'm down." Heather told them.
The girls cheered. Heather smiled a little bit then looked over at the young boy. He smirked a little but went back to eating.
As school was ending, the girls went to their after school activities as Jeremy and Heather went to her car. As they drove home, Jeremy had relit the joint from this morning and smoke some of it. Heather looked at him as she pulled into her driveway. When she put it in park, he handed her the joint and she took it of course. Heather took a few big hits before passing it back to the young boy.
"Only if your mother knew." Jeremy said as he coughed a few times.
"Ha, she'd be okay." Heather chuckled a little. "More important I'm with you." Heather told him as she leaned more into him.
"Yea, about that. You want to take this upstairs?" He had asked her.
Heather nodded. Sandy wasn't home just yet. She was still at the hospital, working a triple shift so she won't see her til like morning. As both the young teenagers got out of the car and headed into Heather's house to go up to her room. Jeremy had shut her bedroom door and they laid on her bed and smoked the rest of the joint. By the last of the joint both Heather and Jeremy was stone. They talked and laughed at some stupid s**t. Heather also done some things that she wouldn't ever do but with Jeremy there and her being stone, it was bringing it out of her.
Heather had leaned into Jeremy to kiss the boy and he had let her. They were making out for it seems forever. As he was taking her shirt off, her bedroom door swung wide opened. They both jumped and it was Heather's mother.
Sandy was beyond pissed off. She was furious at the two teenagers. Sandy had grabbed Jeremy by the ear and pushed him out of the room and sent him home for the night.
"What the hell mother!" Heather had yelled. "Thought you were at work?"
"Oh I was, until I got a phone call from your teacher saying you were late to your first class and that you smelled like you were smoking. Was you smoking?" Sandy had asked her daughter. "Are you high now?"
"No," which Sandy knew her daughter was lying. "And if I was, I'm 17 years old."
"Not in my house you ain't. Ima have a talk to Jenna about this. Your grounded the rest of the week."
"What no, Elena and the girl made plans this weekend to have a girls weekend at her house."
"Well tuff s**t, your grounded. End of discussion." Sandy told Heather then walked out of her room.
Heather was beyond pissed off at what just happened. But she will live with it.
She had ground her phone and texted the girl telling them that she's ground until otherwise. Even texted Jeremy to give him a warning what was gonna come with Jenna.
After she texted them, she dine her homework that she had got for the first day. Which wasn't much but she done it anyways. After she was done, she grabbed her journal and wrote in it.
August 8th, 2008
Well I smoked with Jeremy before and after school. It made me feel good for once. Something with Jeremy, I just don't know what it is but I think I have some kind of feelings for him. I know were a few years apart but were in the same grade though.
On top of what I did, my mother caught us making out and found out I smoked. That was one of the things I didn't want her to now. The boys was a different story. She trusted Jeremy Gilbert with all her heart but when I do something bad, she wants him out. There's times I wish I lived with my dad. Maybe I would get my way there. Speaking of dad, I haven't heard from him in a while. I actually miss the hell out of him. But I knows he's busy with his job at the reservation. I know the last time we talked he said he got promoted with a $4 raise for what he does. But I forget what he does again. But I didn't tell my mother, she would get him for more money for child support which, I hate she's doing that to him.
I'm suppose to go their for fall break in about 6 weeks but knowing my mother she won't let me go.
Last time I were there, I had a party at his house while he was out hunting and well long story short, I got drunk and the cops got called. They had called my mother and she wasn't very happy. My father came home to my mother being there going off on him for leaving me alone the whole weekend. I haven't been back since and that was 2 years ago.
There was a knock on the door and it was my mother telling me dinner was done. She closed her journal and went down to eat.
About half way with her food, her mother speaks about what happened earlier but she ignore her because she don't want to talk to her about it.
Heather has been a weird lonely girl since her parents spilt when she was 13 years old. Her mother says she couldn't deal with Washington anymore. She was getting sick of the weather she says, that she wanted a change of scenery. But to be honest, the last two years were bad for them. Heather always heard them fighting a lot and the messed up part was that her father had to leave after their fights to cool off. Heather never understood why, either.
While the talks, all Heather heard from her mother was.
"I get your almost 18, but doing it in my house is not right. I know I let you off with a lot of s**t. And hanging out with Jeremy makes you happy then do what makes you happy. I'm sick of fighting with you, your sure your father's daughter. But the smoking, the drugs, is not aloud in my house."
"I wasn't doing drugs in the house." Heather had said after a while of her mother talking. She was getting sick of her mother talking about this s**t. "Yea, Jeremy makes me happy and I'm glad I'm my father's daughter, least he let me get away with half the s**t I do." Heather had said then got up and ran up to her room.
As Heather with back to her room, Sandy shook her head. She grabs the plate and throws away what was left and does the dishes. After Sandy was done, she had went upstairs to her own room and called her ex-husband to talk about their child.
"Ira, I'm so sick of fighting with her." Sandy tells him. "She's you all over and I can't do it anymore."
While on the phone, Heather walked out of her room and went downstairs to get something to drink. While on the way back up she heard her mother on the phone.
"No, I haven't told her yet." Her mother says. "No, she hasn't been like that."
Heather was confused at first so she stepped closer to listen.
"Yes, I know the process of it all. But are you sure she'll, okay. If she does, I'll send her your way. Yes, Ira. This is why I left you in the first place. I didn't want any of that in my life. Yes, I know she's part of your tribe. Yes, I get it. I'm not arguing with you anymore about this. Ira, no. I said no damnit. She's my child. Yes I know she's yours as well. I see and hear you in her and that is why I'm over it all. Whatever Ira, I'm hanging up. Bye." She heard her mother say.
What she had heard just mad Heather mad. She went back to her room and sat on the bed. She opened her journal again and started writing where she left off.
So my mother is over me. But I one nothing wrong. Yes, I smoked a joint but it wasn't in her house like she asks. Now she wants to send me to my fathers because she can't handle me anymore. Which I'm happy for, just I don't get why though.
All I know is because I am part of my father's tribe she hates that part of me. Yes, I'm Indian, the Quileute Tribe, is a big part in LA Push, Washington. And I love it there. Its by the ocean, great beaches there. Its everything a girl can ask for but someone had took that away from her.
Well I'm getting off for the night, got school again in the morning. So goodnight journal, least you listen to what I have to say. :-)
The next day, as soon as Heather's alarm went off, she got up and got ready for school. Once she was ready, she grabbed her bag, phone, and keys. Ran downstairs, grabbed a piece of fruit, and ran out of the house. She ran over to the Gilbert's house an knocked on the door. Jeremy opened the door and smiled when he saw who it was.
"Good morning, damn you look beautiful." He had said.
"Thanks," Heather told him then kissed him on the lips.
"Ugh, no doing that this early." All you hear Elena saying as she was coming down the stairs.
They stopped kissing then looked at her. Jeremy had grabbed Heather's hand and they had went up to his room for a moment. Jenna was coming out if her room when she ad saw them.
"Umm, what are you two doing?" She had asked.
"Showing her something that I got in the mail." Jeremy lied to Jenna.
"Hi, Jenna. You look lovely this morning." Heather said messing with her.
"Why thank you. Well hurry up. Y'all had 10 minutes." Jenna told them.
They nodded and went inside his room and shut the door. Heather smiled when they were alone. Jeremy pulled her to him in the bed, then started making out. After a few minutes, they stopped and Jeremy did show her what he does have. But it wasn't what he had told Jenna. He had showed her his stash of pills and other s**t he had.
Heather shook her head at him before kissing him again then grabbed one of the big pills an popping it in her mouth then grabbed a few made joints.
She put them in her bag then they walked out of his room and headed to the car.
Elena was leaning against Heather's car waiting for them. Heather unlocked her car and Elena got in the back if course.
Just like yesterday, once they got to school, Elena took off to her friends and Heather and Jeremy smoked part of one of the joints.
"So my mother called my father." Heather told Jeremy after she took the first 3 hits.
"Oh, lord." He had said.
"She's sick of dealing with me. Said she's gonna send me to him if something happens. Whatever that means. Then they started arguing on the phone about my "Quileute Tribe". Saying that's why she left." Heather told him.
Jeremy shook his head then took a few hits before putting it out. Then leaned over Heather and done a shotgun hit with her, kinda. She didn't know what he was doing to her at first, because she was busy on her phone. After their kiss, someone knocked on the window, it was Tyler. Their somewhat cool friend. He was one of the football players here.
"Come on love birds. God I wish you two would go back to not liking each other again." Tyler had said as he knocked on the window.
Heather rolled her eyes then flipped him off. When she got out of the car, she laughed at him for a second then he wrapped his arm around her.
"You can be such a pain in the ass." Heather told him.
"I know." Tyler told her.
Tyler use to pick on Jeremy when they were younger and still did when they got to high school but Heather had stood up to him and ever since they were best friends. Even though Heather still felt alone half the time.
As they went to class, come and gone, other than their Jeremy and Heather's last class. Elena and her friends joined their last class since their teacher was out. They all sat in the back. Then a new boy and teacher came into the room.
"Good afternoon kids, I'm Alaric Saltzman, your new history teacher and this is one of your new students, Stefan Salvatore." The teacher had said.
The new kid went to take his seat and Elena, well something made her stare at him the whole class. They all were taking notes, really.
After class they had went home, Jeremy kissed Heather goodbye an she went inside up to her room. When she got in she had got a phone call. It was her father.
"Hi daddy." She answered.
"Hi sweetheart, how was school going so far?" He asked her.
"Good. I mean its only been two days."
"I know. So I got a phone call last night from your mother. Why are you being hard for her." He had asked her.
"I'm not, I'm just being me. You know how I am." She told him.
They talk for hours until he had to go, which made her sad. She loves talking to her father more than her mother.
After a few weeks have passed by, it was only a few weeks til fall break she was happy. But she wasn't going anywhere. Not even her father's. Her mother made sure of that. She was still grounded. So she was stuck at home town doing nothing.
As fall break was coming up, things were starting to act weird around town. There were a few animal attacks. Elena was talking to the new guy from school now. Like ever since her and Matt Donovan broke up over the summer, she's been not the same until now. When Heather went to the grill to get something to eat, Matt was working and when she came in, she had saw Elena and Stefan in the corner talking.
"Hey Donovan, I'll take my usually please." I said
"Double pepper jack cheeseburger with hashbrowns and a Dr pepper gotcha." He said writing it down.
"Thanks." She says as she sits down.
After Matt got her meal going and handed it to her, they sat there talking about everything. Mostly about him and Elena. How she told him she wanted to be alone after what happened with her parents over the summer.
That's when Heather and Jeremy had started really hanging out. They both were loners. Jeremy lost both his parents and lives with his aunt. Heather's parents slip and she lives with her mom. Rather live with her father instead. But can't.
