14 Once I returned to my house, I left Selene a voicemail confirming I’d pick her up the next day at six o’clock and the address, which Laura had sent me. I wondered what Selene’s plans for the evening could be, but it was none of my business unless she was hanging out with the scar-faced assailant, in which case she wouldn’t invite me along, anyway. My next call was to the number Jade had given me on the third page of the itinerary printout.
