Epilogue Six months later I was working at my desk when the front door of the house I shared with James Trevalyan slammed opened. “Remy?” “In the study, darling James.” What was my lover doing home so early? I rose and caught up my walking stick. Earlier in the year I’d been in a car accident that did serious damage to my ankle, leaving me unable to continue doing the work James required of me. Fortunately, by the time we’d realised how bad my ankle was, James had convinced me he loved me and intended me to stay with him no matter what befell us. Before I could reach the hallway, James appeared in the doorway.
