Chapter 2: Criminal World

(Maria POV) “F*ck! My head is hurting like…” The moment I opened my eyes, the whole world spun around me. I wasn’t in my room, so I got up with a jolt. “Where the hell am I?” I asked myself and looked around, but it felt like I was in a five-star hotel room. I gulped hard, and everything started coming to my mind, including Joseph Marcello's arrest orders and all the chaos after that. I removed the blanket from my body and looked towards my feet that were cuffed to the bed. “F*ck! So, now I am his captive,” I mumbled before looking towards the leg cuffs. I tried to open the lock, but it was such a complex thing. Before I could find something to pick its lock, the door of my room opened slowly. “Good morning, Angel! How are you feeling now?” I arched my brow and looked at his bluish green eyes. “Why did you bring me here, Joseph?” I asked and noticed a cut mark on his left brow. Well! I didn’t see this mark last night when I faced him. “To have a little chit chat session, Angel,” He answered, and I clenched my fists in anger. “Let me go, Joseph! Or this will not end well for you. You don’t know the power of the law,” I warned him, and a smile crept on his lips. “You are really a fiery one, Little Angel,” His amused tone irked me. “I. Am. Not. A. Little. One! And what’s with you and these s*ck nicknames? I hate nicknames. Stop calling me with these, like we have a deep bond between us,” I answered, and his eyes glowed up for a brief second before turning back to normal. His eyes moved from my head to my cuffed legs and then again to my face. “Yeah! I can see you are not a little one, but for me, you will always be a little angel but a fiery one,” I gritted my teeth but didn’t answer him. He was really trying to rile me up, so I shouldn’t fall for his tricks. “Release me, Jos…” “I am not Joseph, Little Angel! I am Luca and Joseph’s twin,” He said, and my mouth hung open. Before I could come out of my shock, Joseph entered the room and now, I could see why it took us so much time to catch him. Because we were not catching one person but two… F*ck! If they keep surprising me like this, then I will lose my mind in a few hours. I wiggled my legs and the chain clanked loudly. “Open these f*cking things,” I ordered them and Joseph arched his brow with a smirk. “And why would we do that, Buttercup? I thought you liked chains and cuffs, you know!” He hinted, and my cheeks turned red like all the blood of my body rushed towards my face. “F*cking no! Although I like to have criminals like you behind the bars and in handcuffs, I don’t like these kinds of stuff,” I answered after turning my voice as stern as I could. “Hmm! We will see,” he mumbled, and I furrowed my brow in confusion. “What do you mean by that, you jerk???” I tugged my legs hard and winced loudly when the pain shot through my whole body. “You are really a difficult one,” He said and moved towards my legs. “What are you going to do? Stay away from me, you criminal,” He stopped for a second before shaking his head after hearing my words. “Ouch!!! What is this?” I felt a zap of electricity in my leg when he touched my foot. It was definitely real because there was no f*cking hell that I was imagining all this in my head. There was something really weird going on and I have figured out what it was. Their eyes were glowing, and now these tingles which I feel whenever he touches me or my skin comes in contact with him. “Don’t put too much pressure on your pretty head, Buttercup! Everything will be fine… soon,” He assured me, and my throat dried after hearing his words. “What do you mean by fine? Are you going to kill me and bury my body in an abandoned place? Or are you going to sell me off to someone…” I stopped when his grip tightened on my foot. “We can never do that to you, Buttercup! Never!!!” The pitch of his voice changed and my heart rate increased. Luca stepped forward and put his hand on Joseph’s shoulder. “You are scaring her, Brother!” He said, and I looked at his face with frightened expressions. I was trying to control my fear but failed to do so. “You are bleeding!” Luca said and touched my other foot where a few drops of blood oozed out. “Ouch! What’s wrong with your touch?” I tried to free my foot from his grip, but he didn’t let me go. “Nothing!” He answered, but I was feeling differently. Their warm touches were doing something to my body that I couldn’t comprehend at that time. After a few minutes, a male guard came with a first aid box and left the room. “You didn’t even call him,” I asked in a surprised tone. Luca looked at my face with a small smile playing on his face. “You are too intelligent for your own good, Angel,” He said, and started applying an ointment on my wound. “How can you be so gentle with me?” I asked, and his hand stopped for a moment. “What? Have you never seen a man taking care of a woman?” He asked in a playful tone and I shrugged my shoulders in response. “Yeah! But I have never witnessed a ruthless and heartless criminal with the blood of thousands of innocent souls in his hands taking care of a woman,” He clenched his jaws and I gave myself an appreciative nod because I knew my words would cut deep. “You don’t know even a single thing about us, Buttercup! But, soon you will take back your words,” He put my foot aside and gave the ointment to Luca, who started applying it on my other foot. “Never! I know what I am talking about. But… You will not be able to keep me here for long, Joseph. My team will come here and attack your pretty palace in no time,” I warned him, and he shook his head with a smile. “They will never be able to find our place… Not in the next thousand years at least,” I looked at his face as like he was the most delusional person on the face of the earth. “How so? I found you in less than six months,” I answered and he nodded in agreement. “Yeah! Because it was the Moon Goddess’s will, but they will never be able to do that without your help now,” He answered, and I felt like they belonged to some other planet. “Moon what? I have never heard of such a deity before,” I said, and Joseph patted my head before leaving the room. I felt like a clueless child at that moment. “You guys are so weird,” I mumbled before closing my eyes to relax my mind a bit. I have to think of a way to run away from this place as soon as possible. One thing was sure that I couldn’t wait here forever in the hope of some help. I have to figure something out on my own.
